About Huntsville Havoc
Huntsville Havoc at the Von Braun Center
The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) Huntsville Havoc are one of the most successful teams in the history of the league. They play their games at the Von Braun Center Arena in bustling downtown Huntsville, Alabama, adjacent to Big Spring Park and right off of the historic square. Downtown Huntsville is a haven for craft beer, coffee, dining and the arts, and a stroll through the square is a great way to start or end your Huntsville Havoc experience. Once inside the renovated Von Braun Center, championship hockey awaits you, with Coach Glenn Detulleo’s Havoc team led by players like top-scoring center Rob Darrar, captain Tyler Piacentini and promising right winger Isaac Johnson. Tickets for games are broken down into Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers, with the latter being just beyond the glass. Huntsville Havoc theme nights include a Star Wars Night, a Dog Race weekend, a St. Patrick’s Day celebration and two Alabama BBQ Nights. With well-attended games, the Havoc can boast the best average attendance in the SPHL, and that number has only gone up as the Havoc continue to raise the William B. Coffey trophy.
Huntsville Havoc Background
Entering the league in the 2004-05 season, the Huntsville Havoc are a fixture in the SPHL playoffs. The team won their first President’s Cup in 2010. And in 2018, the Havoc famously became the first fourth-seeded squad to ever win the title. They wasted no time following it up with another, when they swept the Birmingham Bulls in the finals for their second consecutive title in 2019.
The Havoc’s home rink is in the Von Braun Center, a multipurpose facility for sporting events and performing arts in downtown Huntsville. Along with the arena, the complex also features a playhouse, exhibit halls, and a concert venue that is home to the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and once famously hosted a five-show run by Elvis Presley.
Fun family night with loads of excitement and entertainment.
This is a great venue, very clean and inviting. They put on a great show and it is very entertaining. This time i was with my wife, daughter, son and 8 yo grandson. Everyone seemed to have fun including my grandson. I highly recommend it for an evening of a lot of fun for the family.
They lost to a Roanoke, in front of a sold out crowd. It was Great!
Lots of fun! It was my 3rd havoc game to go to and definitely didn’t disappoint! Great atomsphere!
My husband and I moved away from Huntsville 7 years ago and missed hockey. This was our first game back and it was even more fun than we remembered. The dachshund races were hilarious. The prime rib was excellent and with baked potato and salad made a very nice dinner for an extremely reasonable price. And the game was really fun to watch. We will be regulars now that we live here again. Go Havoc!
First time at the Havoc’s game and it didn’t disappoint. I’m sure we will be back
We love hockey and the Havoc. Great place to take the entire family for a night of family fun and entertainment. They do it right with all kinds of activity and fun for all ages.
I missed some of the fanfare of the beginning, like the wolf howls. I also missed the hilarious vignettes of players after they're put in the penalty box.
Great arena for hockey. Fans are really engaged. We were in the nosebleed seats and the view was great (great for quad workouts too!). If you are considering less expensive seats, you'll still have a great view. Concessions not as bad as NBA/NFL/MLB stadiums. We've been to a few games and always enjoy them. The theme nights add another level of coolness as well.
Been to 3 games here. Poor audio quality, very few instant replays, too many game interruptions.
The bag policy for the havoc is terrible. I have been to events much larger with much more consistent results. The size limit is 4x6. However I saw multiple people with clear bags WITH larger bags inside. The staff that enforces this are illogical, and this process needs to be re-looked at. What makes even no sense, is a member of my party had a Swiss knife with him and walked through the “checkpoints “ undetected. This policy needs revisited because its intended purpose is ineffective, and we won’t be back to another hockey game until this is changed. Check the bags if you must!
This was my first hockey game and it was absolutely amazing.
Sitting in the 300 sections, row A has a very obstructed view by the railing along the walkway. It would be nice if this was noted on the website, as we would have chosen different seats. Realistically have to be at least in row D to not have this issue. Additionally, most people walking back and forth from their seats don't respect the "wait for play to stop" rule, making it even worse. Also, camera work on the monitors is often very shaky, making it hard to watch.
I was a very exciting and intense game! Very much worth the time and money!
Sporting event was great. Fees doubled price of tickets.
Always great to see the Havoc. Been awhile and as always a good hockey game.
The arena was a great venue for this incredible team. The staff were all super nice and everything was very clean. Overall everything was excellent. Couldn’t have asked for a better Saturday night!
The hockey game was good, however entrance to the arena leaves a lot to be desired!!! There was no clear direction on where you needed to enter and it was my first time attending a game in Huntsville! It took FOREVER to get in and we missed the first part of the game which is disappointing!!
Their was 9 of us & we had a great time. It was a awesome game.
Great Saturday night fun! Friendly, helpful staff! Great drink prices and lots of things to involve the kiddos! Highly recommend!
