About

HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS IN CONCERT:

Following their successful 2013 Sports Anniversary Tour, '80s pop rock icons Huey Lewis and the News thrilled fans with the announcement of additional dates in 2014. Renowned for their stellar musicianship and the charisma of frontman Huey Lewis, the band has become a live favorite for their rollicking sets of upbeat '80s classics.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“Huey Lewis and the News is still the heart of Rock and Roll. Huey still manages to have the crowd on their feet and sounds absolutely the same as he always does.”

“Huey Lewis still has the energy and passion that he had in the 1980s…No frills, just the music. Huey engages the crowd nicely. It was a magnificent show!”

“They rocked a packed house for a good long time…A great mixture of vocals, guitar, horns, and harmonica. They played all of the favorites, along with some new ones, and kept the crowd on their feet the whole show.”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

After their songs “The Power of Love” and “Back in Time” were both featured prominently in the 1985 sci-fi classic Back to the Future, Huey Lewis and the News were all but assured a place as one of the most defining acts of the decade. They delivered on that promise, topping the album charts with Sports in 1983 and Fore! in 1986 and racking up some of the era's seminal hits with “I Want a New Drug,” “Hip to Be Square,” and “Stuck With You."

    Huey was fun!

by joeysmom on 7/16/09South Shore Music Circus - Cohasset

Was fun, remembering old days. My old crush from my younger days, was Huey. I still have the same crush! He was funny, with his comments. The older women loved him, and some went up to the stage. He was kind of like ok, one woman who was just standing there holding his hand, who may have had one too many, he did a staggering away kind of thing, very funny. He played all the songs I remembered from high school, and its just a feel good time. He sounds great! My only complaint would be very short show, not even 2 hours. I was home early, but because of my crush lol!, I go every time he goes to Cohasset, Its fun. When he lifts his eyebrowsand smiles, and your thinking oh wow, thats for me lol!, My sister thought it was funny, that I was so gaga still! If you want to feel like young again, GO TO THIS SHOW!When a guy in the audience yelled out, I love you Huey and he said I love you too Sir, now stay in your seat, do not leave your seat.

    Huey is still going strong

by sammy6 on 7/16/09South Shore Music Circus - Cohasset

Love to see Huey Lewis and the News whenever they are playing close by. His voice is still amazing. We saw him at the South Shore Music Circus in the round and that was a really good venue, everyone had a good seat and the sound was great too.

    A Seasoned News Fan's Thoughts

by CrazyShady51 on 7/16/09The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

This was my first time seeing HLN in Windsor at Caesar's Windsor. To be able to go to the show, I had to have my passport and wasn't sure that it would arrive in time for the concert; however it did so I was able to purchase and ticket go. I wish that it was longer than 90 minutes (I've gotten spoiled over the past 22 years) and the song selection was a great mix of new and classic News songs. Whereas I enjoyed the show itself, going up & down escalators in the venue was not much fun as I am acrophobic.. I realize that the event staff was doing their jobs, but as I'm freaking out at the thought of having to do the escalators *again*; I was not allowed to go out the ground level doors or use the elevator as they were for 'handicapped' vistors; and I did not fit the criteria. I would see the News again in a minute, but prefer the venues where escalators are not used for vistor access, such as DTE (Pine Knob for the Old School fans); Meadowbrook, Freedom Hill, Joe Louis Arena or even the Fox.

    They still got it

by bean1981 on 7/16/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

I was never fortunate to see Huey Lewis back in the 80's (I was only 7) haha but I have always enjoyed the songs. So when this came along I didn't even bat an eye and bought the tickets. I was in the pit one person back from the stage so that was great, and Penn's Peak is beautiful!!! Huey Lewis and the News was full of energy and excitement. The show seemed slightly boring for them.. but they have been playing the same songs for how many years?! I left feeling that I really got my money's worth.

They put on a good show, but I felt they missed a lot of their hit songs. I would definately see them again.

    HLN show rocked!

by kristabelle on 7/16/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

I have never seen these guys in concert before and they did not disappoint! Penn's Peak is such a GREAT place to see a concert because you feel like you are right on the stage with the band - it's such an intimate setting! They played all of their huge hits and even did 2 songs a cappella. I was blown away. The next time they come to my area, I will DEFINITELY be at the show.

    Best concert ever!

by tdmd on 7/16/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Penns Peak is a smaller venue which was PERFECT! It was more like a dance/party than a concert. . . most everyone was on their feet.. If you sat still at this event, you must of been DEAD.

Huey Lewis and the News, 30 yrs!

by njrazorback on 7/16/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic City

This was a small, intimate performance. The venue is much smaller than anywhere else I saw him in the past. I saw him years ago when he was in East Rutherford at what is now the Izod Center, then 2 years ago at PNC Center in Holmdel, NJ. I'm not sure if after that 105 degrees weather at PNC he decided to go for indoors and airconditioning but it was a great idea to keep it small. I had pretty good seats and the best part is I was able to act like a kid and push my way up front. Huey has aged well and his voice is still great. His harmonica playing was just as I remember. Some of his original band members were still a part of the group. The audience was older but they were ready to party! Especially this one woman who begged him for his towel (the one he was wiping the sweat off with!). Huey Lewis and the News are celebrating their 30th year together and they didn't disappoint.

Huey Lewis & The News Still the Heart of Rock n Ro

by pachief on 7/16/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

Huey Lewis & The News did not disappoint as they rolled through their 16 song set, which included crowd favorites like 'I Want a New Drug', The Heart of Rock n Roll', and The Poweof Love'. The set also included a tribute to our military with 'Walking on a Thin Line'. The group entertained with their traditional acapella moments as they shared a couple of crisp new tunes. Huey, who is now 59, can still bring the vocals, but age has robbed him of some of the command he once had with some of the higher notes. The band is as tight as ever and can still play with the best of them. Huey promised that the band would return to Penn's Peak in the future, as will most of the satisfied audience.

Huey Lewis & the News at the Hilton- AC

by OfLate on 7/16/09Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic City

HL&N put on a great show! The venue was very nice, although elbow room between seats was nonexistent... I was surprised that I ended up with extremely decent seats considering I bought the tickets rather late. This show wasn't advertised very well, so I was glad that I came upon it while I was looking for something fun to do during my stay in AC. You can tell that Huey loves what he does. He worked hard to keep the audience involved, which made the show memorable. Huey's energy definitely pumps up the band too. The News played a stellar show! The catalog of hits from HL&N is so impressive, and they definitely covered them all!

Had a thoroughly great experience.....we were right in front of Huey the whole night....3-5 feet away.....1-2 row.....WOW! How lucky are we? They've still got it, and he still looks and sounds great!

    Huey still ROCKS!

by HotairJS on 7/15/09Penn's Peak - Jim Thorpe

I've been a Huey Lewis & The News fan since 1984 when they came to my college just as they were getting well known. Heart & Soul just started playing regularly on the radio when I saw him the first time. I was a big fan at first sight. My friends and I went on to win many lyp sync contests as Huey and the boys! This was my 8th time seeing them and they still ROCK! My only wish as they do more accupella and hope some day they come out with an accupella only album! Also, I wish they would play a little longer. They are consistent however, as this was my 8th time seeing them and they've never played for much more than an hour and 20 minutes or so in any of the shows. Overall, I would reccomend them to anybody who lived through the 80's!
