Dance Party Monster Trucks
by Scott on 3/3/20BMO Harris Bank Center - RockfordRating: 2 out of 5The Hot Wheels Monster Truck Live show was about as boring as they come. The monster trucks actually only ran for approximately 30 minutes of the entire 3 hour show, which the 30 minutes was broken into like 3 - 10 minutes events of crushing the same stack of cars over and over. That was cool at first, but once flattened, it was boring to watch them effortlessly ride over them again and again. I was thinking this was going to be a dirt track full of tricks and it was just driving over some cars repeatedly and doing donuts on the concrete floor. It was super slow with a lot of talking by the two MC’s and when they weren’t talking there was a lot of wasted time spent doing crowd participation “dance contests” on the jumbo tron in the center of the stadium. Had I known that was what I’d get for $150 worth of seats (6 total), I would’ve skipped this event. Big Foot, which was the only real Brand Name truck ended up breaking down and having to be towed to the parking slot. It remained there broken down for the remainder of the show, so that sucked. The highlight and actually the coolest parts of the show was walking around in the “crash zone” getting pictures up close with the drivers and trucks before the actual show. During the show, the motorcycle stunt guys were awesome too, but they only did like 20 minutes of the whole 3 hour show. Like I said, it was supremely disappointing to have so much down time waiting for the trucks to actually do anything. It was also freezing cold in the place cause they obviously had to pump in fresh air to remove the exhaust fumes from the trucks. But still, I didn’t expect I’d have to wear a snow suit to watch monster trucks. I won’t waste my money next time.
