The talented, funny, energetic Peter Noone was a joy to watch. The debonaire, passionate, phenomenal Gary Pucket was worth the price of admission. The Memphis sound delivered by the Box Tops took me back to the 60's.
Peter Noone with special guests Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, and the Box Tops is an evening of fantastic entertainment. You’ll know every song, and you’ll know the words to every song. This is important because there are several opportunities to sing along, encouraged by the performers. The Box Tops open, and let’s face it: without Alex Chilton’s singular voice, there’s something lacking. Still, the band is top notch, and the stories are terrific. An excellent appetizer. Gary Puckett and the Union Gap are next, and they came out in the Civil War Union Army - inspired outfits that they sported circa 1969. That was a wonderful surprise! Gary’s silver mane and slender frame in the outfit gives him a Porter Waggoner vibe, which suits him well. He owns any stage that he’s on. The set was all killer, no filler. Songs like “Young Girl,” and “This Girl is a Woman Now” might come across as a little creepy coming from any other soon-to-be octogenarian, but in his hands, they are simply part of his canon, and celebrated as great songs. Peter Noone is a fantastic showman! The voice is still utterly intact and unique. He’s always had great material, and picked fantastic songs. His years onstage and as a DJ has made him a great storyteller and comic, with superb timing. I would have liked to hear him do the song that he recorded with The Red Button, “Ooh Girl,” but most of the audience wouldn’t have known it. They were there for the hits, and that’s what they got. And, we all loved it!
We have been seeing Peter Noone for a while. He is a fantastic showman. Love his songs, but moreover his performances. He brings great energy to the show. My 26 year old daughter is a great fan and brought her fiancé this time. He had no idea who any of the acts were, but he said Peter Noone made a fan out of him. We forget the passage of time, but it is great to know the performers and Music of our youth are still timeless and just that darn good to convert the video gaming generation to their newest fans. My future son in law stated he can’t wait to see him again.
Although there were issues with the mics, all three acts were exceptional and handled the situation well. The Association doubled up on mics. The Hermits had pre-set their equipment in the pit so the sound crew did not touch anything during change-overs. I know it is tricky changing set-up from one act to another, but it is important to be professional and ready as the stage crew. Last weekend, at the DooWop concert there were also issues with a mic. You can't beat the performers, though!
Gary Lewis opened the show with all of his hit songs. I have seen him several times and love his songs. He was followed by The Association. I have also seen them a few times and they harmonize beautifully. Finally, Peter Noone of Herman's Hemits made their appearance. Having seen them at Westbury before I was surprised when the staff cleared the stage of all instruments and set them up in the pit. This allowed Peter to have full command of the stage and he worked it like a pro. He is a consummate entertainer, his songs fun and uplifting and he engages the audience. I go to his shows as often as I can, transported back to the 60's and leave feeling good! Can't wait until he returns!!
Always good to hear the songs from the sixties. All three groups put on a great show. Keep on Rocking!!!
Peter Noone was the star of the show and never disappoints. Good looking, very funny, great singer, and stage presence. Before Peter, Gary Lewis and The Association performed. Gary was fun, animated, and very enjoyable. It's important to remember that there was a lot of echo and overdubbing on his hits. Don't expect studio quality and you won't be disappointed. The Association, however, did disappoint. I don't know if they missed sound check or what, but their voices, harmonies, and some pitch(es) did not hit the mark. One of the mics wasn't working and it wasn't discovered until midway through their set. Even with that resolved, the set ending was welcome. As long as Peter Noone continues to be a part of Hot Autumn Nights we'll be there no matter who else is on the bill.
Gary Lewis and the Playboys, The Association , and Peter Noon with Herman's Hermits were all Fantastic. We got a meet and great with Peter Noon after the show. An enjoyable night.
Gary Lewis was actually pretty good! Association was off and out of tune but we got through it. Peter Noone was awesome! He was very entertaining.
Peter was great, Gary was fun...the Association had the worst mix known to man. The lead singers mic was off for the entire set. He could be heard through the monitors, but not in the house. Even when the audience was screaming out for a fix, it never came. The backing voices got louder and softer, while the lead voices were often not heard. It should have been a fun night...but then, there was the soundman!
Peter Noone's voice is truly a gift to the world, and the spirit and humor of the 1960's lives on in him. The most upbeat concert you will ever see! He runs through Herman's Hermit's hits effortlessly while joking and playing with the audience. Don't miss seeing him live in concert. Gary Lewis and the Playboys brought back some great memories. And the Association was in fine voice though they were sabotaged with a bad microphone. A fun night for all with the audience on their feet singing.
Peter Noone just makes me smile. With all of the hardships of life, this is a night I relax and remember my youth.
My daughter and i go every year to see PETER NOONE he puts on a great show and did not disappoint.the ASSOCIATION and GARY LEWIS were also great.PETER NOONE is definitely a showman he had everyone singing along and laughing cant wait till next year.my only problem with the shows is that they are too short, two and a half hours just isn’t enough of them
Peter Noone put on a fabulous show at the NYCB this week end. High energy and he sounded as he did at 21. Highly recommend to any fan of Herman’s Hermits. He is just a great first class act. The only note I would give to NYCB is to check your sound systems. I felt bad for the Association who performed prior to Peter. The guitar jack on the amp would not work. One microphone for the lead singer was out. And as a result they sounded woefully out of tune. We saw them a few months back and we know it was the venue and not the singers Please take care as these are our treasured acts from the days of our youth that we want to support and enjoy them in the way they intended us to.
This is the second year in a row we've attended this concert. Peter Noone is a fabulous entertainer, so even though it was mostly the same as last year, it was still a lot of fun. Seeing Gary Lewis and the Playboys was terrific (he's one of my wife's favorites from back in the 1960's - yes, we're that old!) and I've always loved the songs by The Association. Our seats were up right at the stage, so the view was unfettered, although the particular seats we had were a little tight on foot room. A great experience and we'll likely attend next year if Peter Noone comes back.
Had a fantastic time!! Gary Lewis, The Associations & Peter No one were so much fun!!! I enjoyed every second of it! Cannot wait to go again!! Young at ❤️ heart!!
Gary Lewis is always fun. This diamond ring never gets old! The Association opened with Wendy another favorite. Peter Noone has a special connection with Westbury and is always incredible!!!
This is the second time we have gone to see Peter Noone in person. He is just as good as he was many years ago. He gets the audience involved and his voice and sound is just like it was years ago. I highly recommend and we will be buying tickets to see him again,
Peter was the ultimate entertainer singing great songs all with a sense of humor threaded throughout. His voice was better than it was 50 years ago when Hermans Hermits had many hit records. The other two opening acts, Gary Lewis and then The Association were quite disappointing with terrible sounds and awful harmonies. They should have retired decades ago. They certainly made Peter look even better than he already was. Peter could have done the entire show all by himself and I would have paid the full ticket price just to see him, he was that good!!
