Classis music that still sounds great

by Jseven on 11/29/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

The Buckinghams were good. The Grass Roots were OK. Tommy James & the Shondells were really rockin. Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone were, I believe, the best part of the show. Peter Noone has great energy and has great interaction with the audience.

    good except grass roots

by rojor on 11/26/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Peter Noone was fantastic along with the Buckinghams. The grass roots was nothing but a cover band and a bad one at that since Rob Grill Past away there is no Grassroots anymore. We should have been warned.

    Rock 'n Roll Lives

by prufirstimer on 11/26/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

The Buckinghams were good. The Grass Roots were amazing. Tommy James & the Shondells were really rockin, and Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone were absolutely fantastic. An old fashioned rock 'n roll show that had the audience from start to finish. Memories are only fun when they make you feel good about the past. Not only do you have good memories at this show, you wish there was a present that felt this good. Go and have the time of your life.

Hot Autumn Nights conert @ Westbury 11/22/14

by HodsNJ on 11/25/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

If you loved the music of the 60s then you have to love this show. The Buckinghams led off the show and they were followed by The Grass Roots. Both of them played their hits and sounded fine. Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits took the stage next and was great. He still sounds great and puts on a great show as well. This man had SO many hit songs back then! Tommy James & The Shondells finished out the show and the band sounds UNBELIEVABLE. Great guitar work and harmony singing. They played hit after hit and they had LOTS of hits. Of all the "oldies" groups this band sounds the most like they did back then. A great night of memories, fun, nostalgia and the fantastic music of the 60s. Can't wait for the next show.

    Great Show

by Sparkey28 on 11/25/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Buckinghams seemed to be going through motions as if they were bored doing this show so many times. It should be pointed out that the original lead singer of Buckinghams is not part of this group. Grassroots is a TRIBUTE band since no original members are in the group. This was Rob Grill's back up band. They should have mentioned Rob Grill (lead singer of Grassroots) sometime during their set. Peter Noon-Herman Hermits- was great as usual although he used the same jokes that he had done last year. He seems a little worn out since he performs about 150 times a year and had another show in Florida the next day. Tommy James was excellent with a very high energy show, singing all the hits that he is famous for. In conclusion, an excellent show, although next year, Tommy James and Peter Noone should be back, but it would be a welcome change if the other 2 groups are changed.

    Hot Autumn Nights

by MindBar on 11/25/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

The Buckinghams were ok, didn't recognize there songs. The Grass Roots were good, Peter Noone was the best and amazing, he looks great and he sounds great. He is very funny. Tommy James and the Shondels were ok. They played the same song twice. He also said that we should "Keep Looking Up Because Jesus is Coming"..............which was not really necessary at a concert.

    Terrific!

by AngelofGodMom on 11/25/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Buckinghams and Grass Roots were really good. Peter Noone was the standout. He has a real connection with the audience. Tommy James' music is still great, but he plays around with the arrangements sometimes, which annoys people who just want to close their eyes and be transported back to their youth in the sixties.

    Great Show

by BrendanQ on 11/25/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

All of the performers did a great job. Peter Noone was the 3rd act and he killed it. It was a tough thing for Tommy James and the Shondells to follow. In my opinion Herman's Hermit's should have been the closers. That being said it was an entertaining evening and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is a fan of the music from the era

    Semi-Hot Autumn Nights

by Musicfan1a on 11/25/14NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

The Buckinghams played for 20 minutes, and they were good. Next were The Grass Roots. They played for about 30 minutes and were very good. After that was Herman's Hermits. Peter Noone was much better than I expected, very funny and quite a showman. Finally, Tommy James and The Shondells, who were not a good as I hoped. The band wasn't playing in sync, and Tommy just isn't the showman that Peter is. It might have been better if Tommy had gone before Peter. Peter is a hard act to follow.

    Excellent show

by Anonymous on 11/13/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

The Buckinghams and The Grass Roots were as good as usual. Peter Noone and Herman's Hermits were excellent. I had no idea Peter Noone was such a comedian. He was very entertaining and really had the crowd going wild, if you can imagine that. Tommy James and the Shondell's were not as good, unfortunately. When people started walking out I thought maybe they had gone only to see Peter Noone, but my husband also decided to leave early and he is a huge Tommy James fan.

    No mention of Rob Grill

by Rosemary on 10/26/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

While Peter Noone, Tommy James and the Buckinghams were outstanding as usual, I was very disappointed in the Grass Roots. Not only was Mark Dawson a poor substitute for the handsome and personable Rob Grill, but the band did not even have the decency to mention Rob's passing. Maybe a little RIP would have been nice. After all, Rob made all those great songs into hits. They could have very easily mentioned Rob at the part where they mentioned the veterans before playing Let's Live for Today, which by the way was Rob's favorite song and was the last song he listened to before he passed. The bottom line is without Rob Grill, the Grass Roots are NOT the Grass Roots. Put a different act in next year.

    peter noone was fantastic

by tuxedo99 on 10/24/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Great show. Buckinghams & Grassroots are always great. Peter Noone was terrific- what an entertainer! Tommy James was good but not great fit with rest of show. Peter Noone should have been headliner for this show- will make certain to see him if he plays again!

    Good, almost great

by NoSpinZone on 10/24/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Buckinghams, Grassroots, Herman's Hermits, Tommy James & the Shondells. Buckinghams excellent , tight and did all their hits. Super opening act on a spinning stage at Westbury NY. Grassroots also excellent but must have been pressed for time as they did not do their biggest hit (for me) "Midnight Confessions." The spinning stage got stuck during their act but they tried to play to the entire audience otherwise. Stage fixed just by the time they were done. Peter Noone and H's Hs were the show stealer. He's a top-notch entertainer with a tight band - should have been the headliner. Tommy James and the Ss were good but Tommy J didn't show the energy he once had. TJ wandered into the audience (half had left, to beat traffic I suppose - perhaps they were just there for the Hermits) to shake hands - with bodyguards. He didn't come across as really wanting to do this. In the end Noone was out front giving autographs after the show. Perhaps that's where everyone went to line up while the Shondells act wrapped up.

    Blast From the Past

by bubblegum717 on 10/22/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

I enjoyed the Buckinghams, Grass Roots and the FABULOUS Peter Noone. I did not particularly like Tommy James and the Shondells. I felt his music was very loud and since his time to perform was limited, he took too much time shaking hands with the audience. Unfortunately there was a problem with the revolving stage. I wish the performers would have turned around during the performance. Except of course, Peter Noone, who definitely knows how to play a room and make the audience embrace him. It was everything I expected and more!!!!!

    Crystal Blue Persuasion forgettable!

by HeisenbergBB on 10/22/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

I have always had CBP in my top 3 slow songs ever and I was so excited to see Tommy James perform it; especially after it was featured on Breaking Bad! Well he could barely perform the song any more!! How disappointing! He did do a bad ass performance of Mony Mony. Peter Noone and the other bands did not disappoint.

except for Tomm James Hot Autumn Nights was terrif

by MIKEbrooklyn on 10/22/13NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

The opening acts Buckinghams, Grass Roots and Herman's Hermits were great., especially Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits was outstanding. However Tommy James left a lot to be desired. The guitars were out of sync. The music was too loud and drowned out the singing. Then after playing for a brief time wanted to be begged back on to the stage! He spent more time walking around greeting pepple than singing...which I guess was OK because he wasn't very good. Hopefully Westbury replaces Tommy James next year.
