First time I attended a home run derby. The stadium is awesome and we had great seats. The derby was run in such a manner that there were numerous breaks so you didnt miss the action. Very fun and affordable event.
The event itself was very fun and great to watch. But, it needs to be started earlier so it can finish at a reasonable time. Six contestants took over 2 hours to complete and then it took over 1/2 hour to prepare for the fireworks when the contest was done. And, there were too many activities between batters (especially the 15 minute ridiculous games in between the two finalists). I would much rather the event be started at 7:00 instead of 8:00, so the fireworks could be done by 10:30 or so. Speaking of fireworks, they were MUCH better this year. Beautiful display and mostly great, patriotic songs and full versions of them. I don't understand the selection of the first two songs, Star Wars themed and a current pop song, to represent this great country and it's independence, but Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA, Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World and the themes of all of the military branches always bring goosebumps. Please don't ever remove these from the playlist.
Awesome! My kids had a blast. Adding to our yearly must do as awesome stadium, not an expensive event, and followed by fireworks so you can't beat it!!
We didn't need our seats the kids were trying to catch home run balls. The best part was the amazing firework show
The homerun derby is always a blast. The new rules make it more exciting than ever. The issue for me is that the fireworks are the same show year after year. Update the music or just change it up a bit. Overall still a good show and great pricing for the event.
This event was great fun! There were lots of home runs which made it exciting to watch. However, It is a long event and a long night for younger fans. Bottom line, though I would definitely go again, I might just arrive later in the event so that my little ones wouldn't have to sit so long.
Seats were excellent. Directly behind home plate, air conditioned food, drinks and bathrooms 10 feet away. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful.
What a great time. Please keep bringing this back to Omaha. It was fun and the fireworks were awesome. Don't expect to get through the concessions lines though! You could stand in line and miss the whole competition
Really liked the new format. The only thing that could improve is the time wasted between the contestants. Well worth the price.
I've never been to a Home Run Derby before, it was a little slow moving from time to time however in between hits they stadium did a great job of have other things going on to keep the fans busy. And the fireworks were amazing, I loved that they let fans go onto the field if they wanted to for the fireworks.
This is the third year in a row I have gone to this event. The ball park is beautiful. The fireworks display is awesome. We drive from Kansas to come to this event. People are friendly and Omaha is a great place to visit.
Great fun for everyone. Baseball sluggers were incredible. The ballpark atmosphere was kept fun and upbeat with encouragement from the talented announcer, fan interaction, music, etc. The fireworks were fabulous. What a great display -- the best we've seen. The ONLY reason I did not give it 5 stars is because there was no water for sale in the ballpark. Seriously, no water available at a family event!?! There is no excuse for that.
Had a lot of fun cheering on the guys, didn't know any of them but they all did a great job! Amazing that someone could hit 23 home runs in 4 mins. Unbelievable!!
The young men batting were outstanding! Seats were great! Fireworks memorable! Music selections just right! Had a great time!
Great fun for everyone! We try to go every year! Great music, and fireworks, and they actually serve beer at the event!
This was a wonderful family event and fun for both adults and children. Fireworks were incredible and we plan to make this a yearly event.
This event is tons of fun, inexpensive, and sure to make everyone have a good time. The energy and excitement in the ballpark is refreshing and contagious.
This event has gotten too "commercialized" (literally). Way, way, way too much time for television timeouts. With a starting time of 7:30 & eight competitors, it was after 10:00 before the finals of the HR derby began. Also, it was very disappointing this year that the pitchers were only announced by name without including relation to the ballplayers. In the past, it was fun to hear of special coaches and/or relatives honored to be chosen as pitchers. Lastly, the fireworks were the absolute worst! Nothing new except an EXTREMELY BAD choice of music. Where was Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA? There are plenty of patriotic songs from which to choose: Toby Keith (American Soldier), Billy Ray Cyrus (Some Gave All), etc. The OWH rep that introduced the show said it was a celebration of our country's independence & a tribute to the military personnel. But, they couldn't choose 20 minutes of patriotic songs to represent our freedoms & to commend our military? Pop music unrelated to our country is unsuitable and ruined the entire experience for us.
Great seats, friendly sevice. Very organized. Food and refreshments were great.
We have been attending this event for 15+ years. Parking was easy actually found a free place to park 3 blocks to the north of site. There is a large parking lot just east of where we parked that could be used but it is not for some reason. I think more people would attend if parking was cheap and easy to find. Home run derby is fun to watch, but it tends to drag a little. I always wish there was a game to watch before the fireworks. Maybe bring in the stormchasers. Fireworks at the end are good but not great! They have cheapened them up some. Small towns have almost as good of shows. Need more loud bangs. Everybody likes that! Traffic control at the end was a little slow, but there was a lot of people there.
