This event was a 10 out of 10! They did an amazing job and would definitely do it again!
A great experience introducing symphony to two grandchildren. They were amazed. Everything was great except for a double booking issue in the few behind us that erupted into profanity. Not what I expected or wanted to expose children to.
Way too expensive to watch a movie on a big screen, that had barely any music in it. Would not recommend
I thought it was going to be a play with orchestra. Instead it was the movie on a big screen and the orchestra. Left half ways.
The Orchestra only played the score of the movie. No sound effects. The choir didn't even sing all of the songs. Of the 100mins, they probably played for 20? Basically it was a giant screening of the movie. For the price of the tickets, I expected more.
Every year we do a Christmas Show and this fell short on magic this year. Although the orchestra was great, I thought the music would have been more powerful, you hardly knew they were playing. I really could have sat at home on my couch and watched and had a better experience. It was extremely pricy to just "watch a move". Lots of room for improvement on this. I would not do a "concert"like this again.
I have seen this twice in Nashville at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and twice in St. Louis at Powell Hall, and I cannot wait for the fifth go-round! Such a fun time and so great to hear the original score played live. I would love to see it in Chicago, as what could be more fitting than that? But I’ll take it where I can get it.
What I thought I was going to see is the Atlanta symphony orchestra highlighted while they played excerpts from home alone. What you actually get is a large movie screen over the Atlanta symphony orchestra on a flat stage. You can barely see the symphony as they played along with the movie. You cannot tell that the movie soundtrack is any different. I was very let down. I ended up spending $160 for me and my wife to sit and watch a movie we have seen thousands of times with a bunch of strangers tucked in the very tight seats while you can't tell the symphony is even playing. We left at intermission. Very disappointed and upset. Even cried. I wish I had that money back for Christmas for my kids.
I understand it's home alone. What I thought I was going to see is the symphony play selections from the different movies and a focus on the symphony. What actually happens is you watch a movie on a big movie screen above the symphony. They play along with the movie. I couldn't tell the symphony was playing. It sounds like it does when you watch the movie at home. I was very disappointed. I felt like I paid $60 to watch an old movie shoved into tight seats with a bunch of strangers. I wanted to see the symphony the main focus of the event. The screen overshadowed the symphony. We left halfway during intermission. Really dissatisfied. It was lame. I wish I had the money back to spend on Christmas.
Please bring this show back each year! It was perfect! I loved the entire production!
