About

The world inside Tupac Shakur’s music and lyrics blazes to life in an entertaining new musical!

Broadway has always given voice to popular culture and social change.  South Pacific, West Side Story, Hair, and Rent are among the hits that hit home.  Now Broadway gives voice to the lyrics of Tupac Shakur, whose music has sold over 75 million albums.

Holler If Ya Hear Me is a riveting, non-biographical story about friendship, love, change, family and hope—an original work that is at once a love story and an unretouched picture of life in the streets.

The seating in the orchestra level of the Palace Theatre has been reconfigured to create a more intimate experience for the audience.  The stage has been moved closer to the audience and the seats are now stadium style, making every seat prime viewing.

Holler If Ya Hear Me brings together some of the theater’s most prominent creative talents.  Directed by Kenny Leon (A Raisin in the Sun, Fences) with an original book by Todd Kriedler (Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner), with choreography by Tony Award® winner Wayne Cilento (Wicked, How to Succeed…), and musical supervision by Daryl Waters (Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring In ‘Da Funk, The Color Purple, Memphis.)

Don’t miss this chance to experience the sheer brilliance of one of the 20th century’s most prophetic and influential voices whose message continues to echo throughout our culture today.

The show will begin promptly at the time stated. No late seating.

    Broadway is Definitely Ready!

by MisterDD on 7/23/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

People questioned whether or not broadway was ready for hip hop, and the answer is YES! This play had a phenomenal story line that is culturally relevant and extremely intertaining. It epitomized musical talent, acting and dance, and the set design was spectacular. If you thought this was just Tupac on broadway, you were dead wrong (no offense). This is not your cliche love story, rooting for the underdog. You can develop a personal connection with each character, even the antagonist, and hope that no one else has to suffer. I look forward to more stories like this on broadway... stories that actually mean something to real people. Stories that empower us to do something positive in our communities. #HollerIfYaHearMe

    What a fun show!

by chayam on 7/23/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

This show was fantastic. It was fun, heartwarming and sad at the same time. I went from crying to laughing throughout. It's message is real and applicable and not overly romanticized. It ended with a 10 minute long standing ovation. REALLY A SHAME THAT IT CLOSED EARLY. I REALLY HOPE IT REOPENS SOON!

    Amazing!

by Brendalyn on 7/23/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

So sad to know this show is no longer on Broadway! This play was amazing!!' It was filled with passion and each performer was believable and convincing. It truly showed Tupac's music as a form of Poetry that everyone could relate to. It was gritty, Raw and real. I would've paid to see it again!

    Absolutely Superb!

by Lncarter82 on 7/23/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

I cannot begin to explain just how good this play is. From beginning to end, the story, the music, the choreography captivated me in ways few plays have before. I first saw it the Tuesday before it closed. Upon learning it would be soon closing, I had to see it again just in case I am never given the opportunity again. It was amazing! And it really is unfortunate that so many people will not have the opportunity to see it.

Musical with Tupac's music was well done

by smittygirls on 7/23/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

Strong voices, emotions and dancing. This musical should have been a must see for anyone who claimed to like Tupac's music. Yet it was not supported. Hoping it will turn up in another, perhaps, smaller venue, locally advertised, and given the chance it deserves, as well as give the actors a chance to show their talents.

    Shame it's cancelled

by MayraC on 7/23/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

Was such a great show. Out of the norm Broadway James Franco type of shows that are on now. Something innovative with great message and music.

Holler If Ya Hear Me was Powerful!

by Mpho on 7/23/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

Saul Williams, other lead stars and the entire ensemble captivated the audience from the opening to the finale! We were moved to tears, laughter, and dance in our seats as they led us on a musical journey via the political, poetic and still relevant lyrics of Tupac Shakur! They left us wanting more. Most of all they inspired those who heard and hollered back to do more to change our blocks!

    Left us way too soon!

by MarkNYC64 on 7/23/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

I have to admit I was skeptical going in to see "Holler" but I was blown away by this original, energetic show. My only regret is that I wish I had gotten a better seat closer to the action and that it stayed on Broadway longer so I could see it again. I really hope they record a cast album because the cast was nothing short of flawless!

    Holler If Ya Hear Me

by AllyC16 on 7/22/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

The singing was terrific. The individuals had excellent voices and the acting was very good. Some of the language was a bit harsh and I had to overlook that. Most adults would not appreciate the language.

    Holler If You Hear Me

by TriciaMae on 7/22/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

The show was good, however, I was not aware of the foul language. It was a bit much and I took my kids. I would recommend show to a friend with OLDER children 16+

    Great show

by Vanegrl on 7/21/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

If the show is having a short run, it certainly is not because of lack of talent on behalf of the cast or the entertainment value. Great show.

AMAZING SHOW!!! I laughed, cried and of course jammed to the music. The way the music was paired with the storyline was flawless. Even if you are not a Tupac fan this is a story and a show that anyone can appreciate. I really hope it comes back soon!

Great message, sorry to see it go

by Mofekolu on 7/21/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

This play was much needed in a time where our youth are struggling with identity and losing their lives to the streets. There should have been a conscious effort to get our young people there by the bus loads. Very sorry to see it go. Phenomenal cast! Little too much profanity for my taste but I understand the context.

    Really enjoyed it!

by essmas on 7/20/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

I really enjoyed this show. I really felt the passion throughout. It's sad that it's closing. I think it's a production that Broadway wasn't yet ready for. They will be soon though.
