Joseph Gordon-Levitt's charisma and humor really made this event a great experience! He and his team took audience members on stage, recorded clips of the audience for hitRECord, and made the audience laugh the whole time. It was an overall fun, exciting, and memorable night. If you are given the opportunity to go to this event, I would take it. Truly a once in a lifetime experience and definitely not worth missing!

    I liked seeing JGL!

by SunshineWilson on 11/16/12The National - Richmond

I'm not the most "artsy" person ever, but I can definitely appreciate the originality and absolute enthusiasm of all of the people involved in/those who support hitRECord. Though I do not feel like I was very entertained by the show. I don't know how to improve this, but I do believe that the show may not keep at least half of the audience's attention. On the other hand, JGL was an amazing host and I would solely continue keeping up with hitRECord just because of his influence! :-P

    Save Your Money

by heartlandmeg on 11/16/12Warner Theatre - Washington

From the start of the show when you're prompted to tweet about "the road your on", then pull out your recording device and interview the person next to you, it all felt like I was back in high school at a mandatory team building exercise. The idea of this journey/road is so hackneyed. I expected more from JGL. His hotness was the only redeeming factor. JGL introduced the concept of hitRECord as this collaborative arts community that empowered artists. The idea of communal art is great, but the idea that it could support them enough financially is ludicrous. JGL pitched hitRECord as an alternative for artists to create their own work when others aren't allowing them the same opportunities. Again, I agree it's a great artistic soundbard, but to suggest its a viable alternative for a struggling artist is absurd. JGL then tried to spin sitcom offers following a stint on 30 rock from the sun as the hardship that inspired him to create this community. There are thousands of collaborators for several pieces on their website, which is great, but dillutes any one person's work who wants to stand out or gain financial stability. At this point it is just bells and whistles for JGL. This promo tour reinforces his passion for the arts but in the end doesn't empower the artist anymore than youtube or tumblr or other platforms. On top of that, the plugs for Sony and Levis and to constantly tweet with hash tags for #goforth or #hitRecord were a turn off. At the end of the show I felt swindled. I had paid close to $40 to basically see some videos that were all online at hitRECord, and be exposed to ads for Sony and Levis. I paid actual money to sit there and here a pitch. So, google some pictures of JGL, watch some videos on their website, and SAVE YOUR MONEY.

    Interactive and Inspiring

by HitRECordFan on 11/16/12The National - Richmond

I expected a show where I would sit, watch and be entertained. Not so! This was a collaborative event hosted by one of the most down-to-earth guys ever, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Was I enamored by his stunning good looks? Of course. But what I truly saw was the artist in him and his sincere passion to work with others to create. It's rare for me to attend a "show" and feel inspired to write music, poetry or anything. There were also good nuggets of artistic truth interspersed throughout either by JGL or someone he interviewed. The fun in it all was just the icing on the cake. This is a must attend to not just see the event, but to get involved to collaborate with HitRECord.

    by Rayy32 on 11/16/12The National - Richmond

This show was great! Joe was an awesome host and made this show so much fun. He interacted a lot with the audience which was really cool. Hitrecord is a really cool organization that more people need to know about. It really is incredible how many cool things people create together without even meeting. Joe is very passionate about it and it really showed. I would definitely would go see it again!

I am extremely impressed with Joseph Gordon-Levitt's unique, inspirational program! He is an all-around talent who speaks to all ages. I basically went to this show as a chaperone for 3 teens--and came out a huge fan of JGL. Wonderful show!

    HitRECord was freaking awesome.

by lejosme on 11/15/12Warner Theatre - Washington

Super involved show with some great representation from the community. It was really great to see so much creativity showcased. It really ended up being a show about people, about the creativity that permeates every day life. And it was beautiful. Also, JGL is super hot.

It was amazing! I will admit I wasn't sure what the show was about when I bought the tickets, when I left the venue that night I left with my passion in the arts (photography, film making, EVERYTHING) reignited! I don't remember falling asleep so happy. I wish I could go to every show on the tour, but next tour I am definitely buying tickets to more than one show! Thanks Joseph Gordon-Levitt for a great night! Hope to see you again soon! And also congrats to all the collaborators who worked on the pieces showed that evening, your work was amazing and I was truly inspired!

    What a let down...

by rachtown on 11/15/12Warner Theatre - Washington

I love JGL, I love film and I love collaborating with people to create art... I thought for sure I would love this show. I was let down... The show was an hour and a half, mostly filled with artsy shorts (some of them were alright) and him marketing his company, products and sponsors. He did bring up audience members for a bit of the show, but it was only people in the first few rows or people that tweeted him. Sorry, I don't have twitter and I didn't sit in the first 3 rows so obviously I didn't get to "collaborate" with him. The Warner theater is not a small space, I think my experience would have been a lot more positive if it was in a smaller theater.

HitRECord was a great success! However, the Warner Theater was too small for the kind of setup that would've made it more accessible. The lobby/VIP section was NOT worth it.

    JGL shined, as always!

    by BrandoLee31 on 11/15/12Warner Theatre - Washington

I am a huge fan of HitRECord, so having the ability to see it live was unbelievable. The show not only brought creativity and one-on-one interaction with JGL but the crowd was able to actually participate and interact through social media. My only concern was that it was a little unorganized. It seemed that at times, it was simply "improv" and the answers that HitRECord and JGL were looking for, were not being given. However, overall.. of course I would recommend this awesome, creative, hipster event to any and all of my friends.. plus if you're not into the whole awesome/creative/hipster "scene", at leas you get to stare at HGL :)
