Hershey Felder showed himself as the consummate pianist, dramatist, and portrayer of Gershwin in the show on Saturday 4/8/23 in San Diego. Thoroughly entertaining throughout the scripted portion of the event, followed by a thoroughly engaging and warm interaction with the audience afterwards. We hope to be able to see him again in the future, and highly recommend his show.
Hershey Felder is an artistic genius. I've had the pleasure of experiencing many of his talented performances and he never ceases to amaze me. Over his many years of performing, he remains a true original who genuinely connects with his audience both during and following each individual performance.
Hershey Felder gave the excellent and insightful performance I have come to expect. He not added to my knowledge of George Gershwin, but he managed to solve a riddle of long standing by answering an audience question. I have long sought a recording of “Rhapsody in Blue” which personified the “blue” as it seemed orchestrations of the piece sanitized the “blues” affect. Mr. Felder when asked whether he played any other instruments, he succinctly answered why and then demonstrated that the piano has the sound of multiple instruments. I then had an epiphany. The orchestrations weren’t sanitized, but rather pulled in what would be heard on a piano solo. Thank you Hershey Felder.
I loved the questions at the end! Acutally, it was all just fascinating and I learned so much and so enjoyed the music. That man (Hershey) is soooo talented.
Hershey is amazing! We have seen him four other times and have never been disappointed. We can't wait for his next performance.

Enjoyed the show. I always like the Hershey Felder performances. They are very good. I am not happy with Ticketmaster only using mobile tickets. I would like more options, email or mail or will call.
Felder is entertaining: interesting, funny, fast paced and a superb piano player. The concluding Rhapsody in Blue was exhilarating! We enjoyed the evening thoroughly.
Everything was great and interesting! A lot of useful information. The artist is professional and plays great! I enjoyed the show a lot. I recommend everyone to watch.
We have seen many of Hershey Felder shows and this one was beyond amazing!!! You can’t explain it. He and his show must be experienced!!!

As previous reviewers have said, seeing Hershey Felder perform As George Gershwin Alone was incredibly entertaining, educational, and engaging. We enjoyed music both new and familiar to us, learned things we hadn't known before, and were impressed with Felder's ability to very naturally connect and interact with the audience in the second part of the show. If you're a Gershwin fan (or just interested in him), go see this show!
The Balboa Theater San Diego told us to arrive one hour early to find parking and get to the theater. The parking is a huge lot next to the theater, so that is not the issue. What they really should have said is come one hour early because we will inspect every part of everything you wear and bring with you. Metal detector and bags inspected. You can imagine how slow this line was for a matinee performance crowd. No other theater in town requires such an ordeal to see a production. Once inside we love the old theater and, as always, learn and are entertained by Hershey Felder. The sing-along at the end was a fun bonus.

He touched my heart in ways I had not experienced, when he offered a solo part. The singer, who had a glorious voice, who worked in a prison, was offered an opportunity to have him come to entertain the prisoners! I was truly touched by his offer.
Hershey Felder is a wonder to behold. Such an enjoyable show with wonderful music and acting.
Since this was my first time seeing Mr. Felder perform, and it was SO outstanding and unimaginable, I cannot possibly see how this could be improved! What a wonderful, unexpected pleasure and treasure! I cannot wait to see him again and again and again...he/the event was THAT good! No one will come away unimpressed, smiling and very moved by the experience.
What a wonderful performance! Hershey Felder never disappoints-we enjoyed every minute of the concert and the sing along after was pure fun!

Masterful combination of musical and dramatic virtuosity. Fielder really inhabits the character. His post-show interview with the audience was a perfect end to the evening. Marvelous.
