Heilung on Tour
Is it poetry in motion? Is it a religious experience? Is it spiritual cleansing? Find out for yourself when European music group Heilung goes on their 2022-2023 international tour. With a style that merges "ancient melodies" with ambient natural sounds and shamanic rhythms, Heilung (German for "healing") is slated to make 24 stops across Europe and the United States to showcase their original style to a broad audience. Perhaps known best for performing their act in full pagan ritual attire, concertgoers praise Heilung for showcasing their unique style with unwavering energy that feels like it could be plucked straight out of Viking mythology, complete with antler headdresses, furs and bones. Despite three studio-released albums, including Futha -- which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Heatseeker Chart and fourth on the Billboard World Music Chart -- music that was featured in a "Game of Thrones," trailer and several video game partnerships, Heilung might be best known for their 2017 performance at Castlefest in Lisse, Netherlands. On three-days notice, the band rocked a crowd of at least 10,000 people with their pagan-folk performance that subsequently went viral. It received so much acclaim, the group released it as a live album titled, Lifa.
Heilung in Concert
Formed by German vocalist Kai Uwe Faust and Danish instrumentalist and sound engineer Christopher Juul, Heilung formed in 2014 to create a new style of music that claims to be "amplified history." Maria Franz would later join the group as both a vocalist and instrumentalist. Faust, who was raised in a tightly-run Christian household, became fascinated by pre-Christian traditions in the world. At a relatively early age she discovered both shamanism (or the study of a religious phenomenon centered on a person believed to achieve various powers through a trance or other ecstatic religious experience) and Viking mythology. Similarly, Juul was the son of a pagan priest in Copenhagen. The two came together when Faust offered to trade Juul a tattoo in exchange for time in Juul's recording studio. A year later, the trio released their debut album, Ofnir. Their most recent album was also their most successful, Futha which features the hit song "Norupo."
Went to the concert at the Huntsville, AL venue .... honestly it was too small for the crowd, the show was amazing from start to finish. This was first of their shows I have ever seen live.... and both me and wife was blown away. You can watch the shows on internet but the experience does not convey... the lighting, the chants ... the DRUMS!!!! (awesome drumers!!!!!!!), do your self a favor and go!
I was looking forward to seeing Heilung and they completely exceeded my expectations! Amazing, moving, talented musicians; I will definitely see them again!! HOWEVER, the venue, the Saenger in New Orleans, was terrible. They said I needed to take off my mask (when there were plenty of others with masks) and since I took an Uber, was not going to go all the way back home, and they wouldn't let me just put it in my bag ("we will not allow full face masks in the building"), so I threw it in the trash. A close friend of mine was harassed by a male door person - he touched her while saying her necklace, one she spent months making, was not allowed because it was sharp. She is small and very sweet, and started crying. The Saenger, in short, ruined her experience. This so-called "sharp"necklace was a part of an animal skull. There were a LOT of people inside wearing antlers, but my friend had to go back and put it in her car? I will never go back to the Saenger again.
I've been an avid fan of Heilung for 5 years now. They're performance was absolutely phenomenal. I've been to quite a few shows throughout my life and this was hands down the best show I've ever been to. Totally magical and spell binding. The venue was nice as well. My only complaint was ther very drunk, obnoxious woman right behind us who continuously screamed and tried to sing like Maria, but was in no way shape or form singer, while she's spilling her drink all over the place. Please be considerate of your fellow concert goers is all I have to say.
I plan to make at least 1 Heilung ritual per year for the rest of my life. Absolutely awesome

A peaceful gathering. Moving music. Well balanced in all areas. The show was amazing. The location was clean and plenty of parking.
We have loved their music for so long. We feel so fortunate to have been able to experience them in person. Absolutely beautiful experience!

I have gone to hundreds of shows in my lifetime. Nothing like this one. Absolutely stunning performance in St. Louis, MO. Can't wait to see you again, hopefully at red Rock in Denver next time.
I do hope they come back to The Factory in 2024. My only regret was not getting closer seats. This was hands down the best show I have ever been to. It’s a soul cleansing ritual experience. Do yourself a favor and get entranced by Heilung. From the ritual beat of the drums reverberating through your body, the wolf howling of fellow Heathens, the bewitching voice of Maria, the deep growls of Kai, and the absolute wonderful vocals and story telling through dancing…..you will never have a better show or gripping experience. See them if you get a chance. No excuses.
This was my very first time seeing Heilung in person, and it was everything that I had hoped for, and more. I have been listening to the band for about 3 years, hearing both the studio and live versions of their albums. Both are fantastic. The studio versions of their songs are more ambient with that hint of primal and ritualistic charm that they are so well known for, while the live versions are far more intense and will rip you out of your seat with adrenaline. That's exactly what they delivered when I attended. I couldn't stop dancing with each and every song I knew by heart, which was almost all of them, lol. And the best part is that I felt perfectly safe and comfortable doing so. I had very positive interactions with a couple of fans as we were waiting in the merch line, a lot of them dressed up too which I thought was so cool! Overall it was a beautiful time, and if I see another Heilung ritual in the area you bet I'm going to be there!
Stumbled upon this group(not sure if they consider themselves a band) on a YouTube rabbit hole. Never thought I'd see them live. When I saw they were in town I had to jump at the chance. What an amazing show. Probably not for everyone. But if you like what you see definitely see them live. Love the ritual.

By far the best show I've ever been to. Sound quality? 5 stars. Performance? 5 stars. I've been waiting a long time for Heilung to come to STLOUIS. And ever thankful and grateful I am I am.
I went to my first Heilung ritual, and I was totally blown away. The several years of listening to them has brought me much happiness and great feelings. The chance to feel their music in the same room is by far the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced. I love their work and what they’ve put into my world. A sense of healing that no modern music comes close to. Thank you!

The factory in Chestefield is a cool venue. Not a bad seat in the house. Skip the vip parking and park on the east side of the lot. Youll be out much much faster. As far as Heilung... I can't describe it. If you know you know. Absolutely funking phenomenal. An amazing amazing experience. Again, can not put into words how worth it, it is to see them live. 15 of 10, highly recommend. A transcendent, religious experience I will never forget and will always cherish. Can't wait to see them again. Thank you Heilung for coming to the states.
This was the most amazing experience I’ve ever witnessed. The atmosphere and ambience made me feel like I was in the woods. The ritual itself put me into a trance that left me wanting more. I will be seeing Heilung again in the future. If you are thinking about seeing them, just do it!
