About

Created by the Producers and Director of Riverdance, HEARTBEAT OF HOME is a music and dance spectacular featuring the dynamic, vibrant components of traditional Irish, Latin and Afro-Cuban music and dance. The world-class cast of forty includes a ten-piece band creating a new and electrifying sound written by award-winning, Golden-Globe-nominated composer Brian Byrne.

The show employs high-definition, cutting-edge projection technology and has an engaging narrative structure. Produced by Moya Doherty, devised and directed by John McColgan with narrative and lyrics by award-winning Irish writer Joseph O'Connor. Joseph comments: 'when we marry the sexiness of salsa to the thunder of Irish dance, the lyricism of tango to the yearning of Sean-nós, what a night of storytelling we shall have'.
The cast includes world-class Irish, Latin and Afro-Cuban dancers and with choreography by David Bolger, the production will create a dream-world of joyous, heart-stopping, high-energy music and dance.

The Riverdance experience of a lifetime.

by ZionBFly on 3/8/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Heartbeat of Home was al that I imagined it to be and with twists, turns, breaks, and props that I hadn't. It was a surprise to show my mother just how much I appreciate all that sh'e done to make our house a home, and her reaction alone was enough to create a timeless memory that I can cherish and pass on. It's not just about Riverdance, it's about the world culture of making remarkable rhythms with feet, the timekeepers of the heartbeat. HOH was audibly and visually stunning, and without a doubt it captured our hearts. Home is where the heart can dance in rhythm with those you love.

Heartbeat of Home better than Riverdance

by Deirdre6 on 3/8/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

This was a terrific show - even better than the original Riverdance. It's so creative in interweaving Irish step dancing (the best) with flamenco, tango and hip hop. The dancers were fabulous, and so was the main singer and the choir that sang background on one number. The band was also very talentned, and it was great to see a woman playing the uilean pipes! Don't leave early or you'll miss the band's terrific encore. It's great to see such talented young people who obviously love what they're doing and respect each other's style. I would definitely recommend this show.

High energy, amazing athleticism - Heartbeat of Ho

by DaCatLady on 3/8/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I took my sons to the opening night of Heartbeat of Home in Chicago. The athleticism of the dancers is beyond amazing. The entire crew was really "into" the performance - even the band members were playing their hearts out - swaying, stomping their feet, etc. Half of a performance is seeing that the performers actually enjoy what they're doing and this was readily apparent. One of my kids said that he performed Lord of the Dance because there was a storyline, whereas this performance was more like Riverdance - different segments of different types of dance. Overall would highly recommend it!

    Love it!

The show is fantastic! I loved everything: lightening, background decoration, a live music, and of course dancers. The theatre beautiful and gives us feeling of a special occasion. Near by us was sitting a lot of teenagers, they look like they enjoyed the show too. Please, take your kids, grandparents and do family event. Worth it every penny!

    Wonderful energy and choreography.

by Dabbing on 3/7/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Enjoyed from start to finish! Next big hit! I really liked the musicians interaction within the segments of dance. Also, the different combinations and styles of dancing blended together was engaging...although I'm sure it isn't going to be liked by everyone. This is not your traditional Irish dancing performance (although when performed they were spot on and excellent!) The other thing I noticed was the type of audience in attendance. There were litte ones dancing in the isle at intermission to the elderly in wheel chairs. Everyone seemed to enjoy it all the way through! Must see!
