About

Created by the Producers and Director of Riverdance, HEARTBEAT OF HOME is a music and dance spectacular featuring the dynamic, vibrant components of traditional Irish, Latin and Afro-Cuban music and dance. The world-class cast of forty includes a ten-piece band creating a new and electrifying sound written by award-winning, Golden-Globe-nominated composer Brian Byrne.

The show employs high-definition, cutting-edge projection technology and has an engaging narrative structure. Produced by Moya Doherty, devised and directed by John McColgan with narrative and lyrics by award-winning Irish writer Joseph O'Connor. Joseph comments: 'when we marry the sexiness of salsa to the thunder of Irish dance, the lyricism of tango to the yearning of Sean-nós, what a night of storytelling we shall have'.
The cast includes world-class Irish, Latin and Afro-Cuban dancers and with choreography by David Bolger, the production will create a dream-world of joyous, heart-stopping, high-energy music and dance.

    Very entertaining...

by lilredgreats on 3/16/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Loved everything about the show except the back drop....on the left side (if seated in balcony) had a huge opening that looked like 1/2 a Mickey Mouse hat...head and one ear. It was very annoying and took away from the scenes going on in the background (the waves, landscapes, eagle flying) Need a better way to have the dancers come in and out so you don't have this "black" spot behind them...especially when the changing scenes were meant to go with the songs...

The Rhythm of the Heartbeat Pounding loudly

by TheStructureMan on 3/16/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

The Dance extravaganza was Exquisite! As the beginning started with the basic rhythm of a heartbeat my heart beat started racing. AS the show went on my heartbeat just kept pounding hard full of excitement and enjoyment. The adrenaline raced through my veins through the entire show. Just as running gives you an adrenaline high so did this show. It is a must see.

    HEARTBEATS OF HOME - AMAZING

by mikwin on 3/15/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Loved the mix of cultures in addition to Celtic. All the performers are highly skilled/world championship caliber so you know you're getting very high quality talent. Second half was definitely the most entertaining but the whole show is well crafted.

    Heartbeat was elevated

by 58mike on 3/15/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I'm not particularly a dancing aficionado (although I enjoyed Riverdance and Lord of the Dance immensely) but I was impressed with many facets of this show. The musicians were outstanding. The lighting at times was spectacular. And of course the dancers just blow you away.

This was better than River Dance with the added spices of Latin and Afro-Cuban dance and music. The video was impressive and the dancing tremendous

I never thought I would like River dancing but decided to give this a chance and OMG was I truly surprised. I love dance and the different variations of dance and music was amazing. Sometimes the river dancing seemed a little harsh; like when they did the tango scene but all in all I was very impressed with the whole production. I even bought the dvd to watch at a later time.

Watching the energy in video made me want to buy

by jajbr on 3/14/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I bought these tickets for Granddaughter and her husband for a Christmas Gift. They said the show was outstanding and they didn't know where to fix their eyes because of all the dancing, singing and playing of instruments going on. They said it was one of the best shows they have ever seen.

    Mixed Bag of Dance

by MikeJCMe on 3/14/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

We had high hopes going in, but were a bit disappointed in the overall coherence of the performance. Terrific dancers, outstanding musicians, but confusing story line and arbitrary transitions made the overall performance average.

    If You Loved Riverdance...

by unoimd1 on 3/13/14Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

You will like this as well. It's an excellent mixture of other dance styles with the flair of Irish dancing. The Latin dancers could have been hotter but all in all it's a high energy show with good musicians as well. NOTE: You don't want to sit too close at a production of this type! I was in the 4th row and I felt as though I didn't get the full benefit of the stage effects.
