It was fantastic. I had forgotten how much fun these things could be. The HSO was absolutely on point the entire time, so much so that you forgot you had a whole orchestra in front of you playing. Last one I went to was the Goblet of Fire 3 years ago (thanks Covid!). Will absolutely go again the next time one of these are showing. Kudos to the entire orchestra and leadership. Cannot wait for the next one. Definite recommend.
Wonderful performance to keep the range of drama that is Harry Potter
A movie with live symphony playing the score. Yes please!
The concert was great, I absolutely loved the music, but people hooting and hollering made it unpleasant.
I enjoy all the Harry Potter movies and the soundtrack. I was excited to experience the soundtrack live. The orchestra did a great job. I was pleased to watch the film and snack on popcorn during the event. I will definitely be going to the next one if there is another event like this one.
Enjoyed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in concert! What an amazing experience. This was a birthday present that turned out to be a great memory. My 'ohana enjoyed every minute of it! Having the orchestra highlighting the movie moments especially with the iconic theme song was spectacular! Can't wait for the rest of the series to come to Hawaii! Bravo!
SO COOL. I went to see the "Empire Strikes Back Live in Concert" event conducted by Sarah Hicks. It was everything I wanted it to be, and more. Great movie, amazing music, and awesome musicians. What's not to love?
unbelievable piano competition...world class...and the orchestra was magnificent. All for $10 with front and center seating!
good great awesome! hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhaha
excellent music accompaniment while watching the dark side strike back..lol. waiting for the movie! đżđ
A dear friend and I went to see / hear Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back on June 19th. I didn't realize where we were seated until we kept going forward and found we were in the first row (CC), at the extreme left. Like a movie theater, sitting too close is detrimental to one's neck and the lights on the music stands for the violinists shone right into our eyes. I was surprised that the sound level of the orchestra was quite subdued then I remembered back to my days as a musician where I couldn't hear what I was playing, nor the sound level emanating from my amplifiers. The sounds coalesce further out into the hall. I couldn't hear the violinists sitting not more than 10 feet away from me. What I did hear was marvelous! Anyway, enough nitpicking. The musicianship and the sound of John Williams' music was simply sublime. I've attended concerts for more than 30 years and this orchestra (circa 2022) is one of the best. Kudos to all of the musicians, the conductor and the people working behind the scenes. Thank you, thank you, thank you. To all of the people that don't attend these concerts ... you're missing out on something special.
Awesome! My family loved it. Valet parking was fast, check in was easy, Lexus Hawaii gave us all $5 drink coupons to use and we could drink in the theater! Eagerly awaiting the next movie concert!
Once again the HSO performed superbly well! I attended the Star Wars, A New Hope a few years ago and enjoyed it immensely. I was hoping they would return with another Star Wars episode, which they did and they DID NOT disappoint. I truly hope that HSO continues this venue, playing every episode of Star Wars. It's fun for the whole family and the audience was captivated, engaged and entertained throughout the entire show! I highly recommend/suggest that you never miss the opportunity to witness and "feel" the emotions with every scene. Thank you HSO for another great show. Keep it coming and keep up the excellent and flawless work. Aloha, Alana
This is one of many of the movie nights I've been to at HSO and they are always amazing. Sometimes the music is so good that you almost forget the symphony is there while watching the movie, which makes it even more spectacular when you DO remember HSO is bringing all of the music from your favorite movies to life.
Surpassed our expectations! You should do MORE of these movies!!!
The Empire Strikes Back with the Hawaii Symphony playing the musical score from John Williams...what else could you want??? Maybe some Hot/Fresh Movie Popcorn with Butter??? But even without that, we were riveted to our seats watching the big screen! Luke found out his father was alive...and Han to iconically say, I Know! Can't wait for the next installment to the Star Wars movie series played by the Hawaii Symphony...hopefully we won't have long to wait! :)
AWESOME presentation by the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra that transported us back to 1980!!! The music, atmosphere, attendees all rocked the Blaisdell Concert Hall! Brilliant Conductor SARAH HICKS superbly took the audience from Hoth to Tatooine to Bespin aboard Vader's Imperial Ship, the Millenium Falcon, X Wing Fighters, AT-T's!!! Only regret---we should've attended the closing night performance also! Looking forward to the next Star Wars Concert presentation!
The Hawaii Symphony has a beautiful, light, crisp sound. The outdoor venue gave us a beautiful views of a moonlit night sky over Diamond Head. A robust, cool breeze made it feel great. Lovely experience.
The concert was fantastic! Wish there had been food options for vegans!
