    High energy night

    by Rob on 7/19/23

This evening's performance was thoroughly enjoyable. The symphony hit all their marks, the conductor managed the songs perfectly, and the soloists were spectacular. The performers raised the energy most of the evening to a fever pitch, and had much of the audience on their feet. Our expectations were easily surpassed, and we hope to see another performance of this nature in the future.

Great venue, great concert, terrible food

    by Honolulu Native on 7/19/23

Waikiki Shell was great! Concert was amazing! DEFINITELY plan on eating before or after. Overpriced hotdogs and nachos is what they had. Had a tummy ache the whole next day. The food booth was at one side of the arena, the alcohol was at the other end. I felt like I missed half the concert just standing in lines. You can't bring any food or drink inside, so plan ahead.

Rockin’Women & HI Symphony simply Da BES!

    by Mele Pele on 7/18/23

Awesome concert! Totally better than even more than we thought it would be! The sound system was also super! The vocalists were really spot on, Rock’n! Kudos to the max!!! Loved every minute of it! Even did as they recommended dancing in the aisles!

    Just ok

    by Jangmihime on 7/18/23

It’s only 2 hour concert and started 10 min late. Then they took more than 20 min break. I don’t think it was worth for pay $63. I wanted enjoy more orchestra sounds. But the vocal and band sounds was too loud so couldn’t hear much about orchestra. It was sad.

    The sound was not good

    by Mar on 7/18/23

The concert was good but not the sound. You could hardly listen to the orchestra while the bass, the piano and the guitar were playing.

Great music and performers created a stimulating evening

    by AW on 7/18/23

Great performance by seasoned and very talented singers who brought the Women of Rock to life just as it was. The first song of Janis Joplin would have made Janis Joplin proud--the performer sounded and acted just like her!

    Exciting, awesome experience

by Ash on 11/18/22Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra concert with David Benoit and Michael Paulo was excellent. David Benoit is a gifted composer and musician; words cannot describe his artistry and talent. Michael Paulo is an awesome entertainer and musician; we hadn’t seen him live since he performed at the Al Jarreau concert years ago and it was great to hear him perform. The rhythm section was awesome as was the symphony orchestra. The only negative part of the experience was the traffic around the Blaisdell due to 3 events scheduled at the same time. We bought valet tickets and it took about an hour to go around the Blaisdell grounds to the entrance of the concert hall valet. (Which is why I gave the experience 4 stars vs 5) Other than that, it was a wonderful evening!

Excellent. Miss the in-person experience, can’t match.

by Palakamon on 11/16/22Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

Would have liked to take no-flash, amateur photos. (Michael Paulo has allowed this at all his venues!) Social media would provide great exposure and much needed free advertising for the symphony.

    Fun with great music.

by Chilled on 11/15/22Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

Enjoyed the evening music. It was a treat to see David Benoit and Michael Paulo, two jazz icons, perform with the symphony The music was beautiful and the symphony was excellent, and truly highlighted the joy of jazz music. More shows like this should be provided, with more efforts to inform and draw in audiences. Hope it happens again soon.

I thought the concert was excellent.

Michael Paulo is one of the best jazz saxophonists in the country, and the Honolulu Pops complements his music style well.

Magic in the air and on screen

Harry Potter movie + symphony orchestra is the best! Please bring more movie + live music combinations!

    Magical!

by Slithering on 11/4/22Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

The orchestra was absolutely stunning. You have to remind yourself that the score is actually being played live, it is so spot-on. 5 stars! Bring on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!

    Fun experience

by D on 11/3/22Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

The orchestra was amazing, it felt like you were in a theater with surround sound. It was fun to see the different instruments used in the film as you are watching the movie. It is definitely a different experience to watch movies. This event did have an intermission in-between them playing, which was nice. I do recommend anyone whose both a HP fan and or orchestra enthusiast to watch their show should they host another similar event.

It was a great check concert, but…

by Judy on 11/2/22Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

I bring my friend who is blind with me. She misses a lot. But there is a nifty technological device called audio assist. Using earphones, a reader fills in the gaps during periods where there is no dialog with visual details. It is legally required by the ADA. For two years we have requested it. It remains unavailable.

    Excellent! 🤗

by Kai on 11/2/22Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

I was able to experience the excitement not only for myself, but a young child next to me was very expressive with his emotions during the show. I couldn’t help but smile with the performance, as well as response and reactions from the audience! Bravo, Hanahou! Excellent show!!!!
