Harmony Sweepstakes Tickets

Seven wonderful a cappella groups, each with very different styles and music, all top notch and entertaining. The very different styles of singing were a special treat.

I’m disappointed. When I started attending the Harmony Sweepstakes, there were almost always eight groups of competitors. Not they’re down to five. There was an additional non-competing ensemble from the Gay Mens Chorus of Washington, but I can’t believe they can’t find enough a capella groups to fill the bill. On the plus side, West Side Five were the hosts, and it’s always a treat to hear them.

The Mid-Atlantic Regionals of the 33rd Annual Harmony Sweepstakes at the Birchmere made for a very entertaining evening. A variety of extremely talented a-capella groups, with styles ranging from traditional barbershop, to gospel, to contemporary, performed. The audience participation in the show, voting for the “crowd favorite” group on a paper ballet, add to the fun. Catch next year’s show!

This is our third year of going to this event. The first year was the best. Last year was not quite as good and this year we kept hoping the next group would be better than the last. They were not. Each group was OK, nothing special. There was no "Wow factor". We still will continue to go but hope that future competitions will "wow" us more.

Ticket price is high, added fees are crazy, but if you love a cappella music, this evening can't be beat.

All of the groups were very good. Tis was not an amateur hour by any means. Harmonies, choreography, song selection were excellent.

Very enjoyable presentation. The wait staff was very efficient and the food was very good.

We purchase tickets to the show every year. Our friends have hooked us on the competition and we really enjoy seeing the talent. Some groups are better than others, but after all it is a competition. The audience is allowed to vote for their favorite group and there is a panel of judges that vote on technical aspects of the show. Dinner is served before and must say the wait staff has been the best this year. Cooperative, helpful and attentive. That is hard to achieve with such a large group being served dinner.

We need more contests when it comes to A Capella. Tons of talent and possibilities.

The program was very entertaining. I have seen more entertaining shows in the past but this one was very good. The variety of performances was very good. I would have preferred a little more of the standard harmonies.

As usual, the event was fabulous, a great variety of competitors. And as usual, the food was outstanding. It is always so much fun to be able to vote. It was fun to be able to sing along; to be in an audience of 500 singers, when everyone was on pitch, and folks broke out into harmonies, that part was super. Mike Why is an amazing entertainer; he should be part of every event.

This once wonderful event continues to deteriorate. They need to improve the selection process and they need to hire a professional MC. This years hostess were terrible.

Of the eight groups on the program, many did only songs that struck me as more 1980s pop or even hip hop in character than the more traditional a capella or barbershop material that my wife and I vastly prefer. We thought Sixtus and Mayhem the best groups, though Luster, who M.C.ed the program and performed at the end, were head and shoulders above this year's contestants.

This was one of the most enjoyable things I've been to. Highly recommended, but get there early!

Enjoyed the 2013 Harmony Sweeps this year (as always). Favorites: GQ (great hosts!) and Breath of Soul (audience fav!) -- both are phenominal (love their youth and vitality!) Judges choice (as always) was very predictable, very traditional barber-shoppe a-capella.

Great singing! Supportive audience! The judges need to get a grip and realize that acapella doesn't mean only barbershop. Breath of Soul should have won!

The Harmony Sweepstakes National Finals were absolutely fantastic. The vocal groups from across the nation, placed their best voices before a full auditorium of enthusiastic supporters. I thought the event was really electrifying!

My BF and I really enjoyed the Harmony Sweepstakes. The event was chock-full of genuine talent, which was great. Each group seemed even better than the one before. Truly entertaining. The only thing is, I wish we had known more about the Birchmere - turns out it is dinner theater, so people show up a couple of hours before the show and eat, drink, etcetera while they wait for the entertainment to begin. We ended up ordering a brownie sundae for dessert, and it was delicious. I hope to go back next year - this time for dinner, too!

As always the Mid-Atlantic Harmony Sweeps is an events not to miss. The overall talent is superb; and the producers and the Birchmere family make it a lot of fun. The overall judging was spot-on. Will be interesting to see how GQ handles CA. Go get 'em ladies!

Harmony sweepstakes was a good time the hosts of the show were last years winners and they were awesome. Aside from one group that didn't seem like they should have been there the other competitors were great and the audience got to vote on their favorite group. All around it was a very entertaining show and I would recommend it anyone.
