Happy Together Tour in Concert

When the Happy Together Tour rolls into town, a beautiful kind of magic trick occurs. For just a little while, the cares of the current world seem somehow to melt away as the sound of a free, colorful era long gone rises up in the air once more. It gives us all a glimpse of what it was like to live in that golden moment of the 1960s, when the glorious vocal harmonies of The Turtles and their contemporaries came bursting out of just about every radio and jukebox in America.

When Turtles frontmen Flo & Eddie — and the rest of their '60s pop/rock compatriots on the bill — step up to the microphone, the years melt away as the hits of the Aquarian Age come back around. It's enough to make even the most jaded listener believe in the possibilities of flower power again, for at least as long as the concert lasts.

Happy Together Tour Background

Few bands embody the spirit of classic '60s pop like The Turtles, fronted by the legendary Flo & Eddie, aka Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan. A quintessential exponent of the summery-sounding, harmony-heavy "sunshine pop" coming out of the West Coast in the mid-to-late '60s, The Turtles stamped their name on pop/rock history forevermore with indelible hits like "She'd Rather Be With Me," "You Showed Me," "Elenore," and, of course, the immortal "Happy Together."

In 1984, Flo & Eddie mounted the first Happy Together tour, bringing the sounds of the '60s to a new era on a bill with The Association and other like-minded peers. Over the years, a lofty list of '60s heroes have joined The Turtles on the tour, including The Cowsills, The Buckinghams, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night, and The Classics IV, giving contemporary audiences a taste of that old-school magic.

    Great Show

by Rickster51 on 7/16/11Cape Cod Melody Tent - Hyannis

The show exceeded our expectations. The Grass Roots - Excellent. The Buckinghams - even better with age. The Turtles - great energy and their band is the best. Mark Lindsay was OK; The Association was the only weak act -- I'm afraid they have lost it over the years.

    Fantastic Show

by Shirleo on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

this was a fantastic show. All of the bands sounded great and they played all their hits. The Keswick is a wonderful venue...very intimate and great for this type of show. I would recommend this show to anyone who enjoys rock and roll.

    Happy Together was great

by bobsjers on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

It was a very enjoyable night. I had seen the Buckinghams, Mark Lindsey and the Turtles before, and they were great. This was the first time I saw the Association. I was a little disappointed in their singing Windy. But they got better as they went on. The Grass Roots were great. Obviously it was very sad that Rob Grill passed away 2 days earlier.

    We were all "happy together."

    by 18976 on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

We have been to other 60s band concerts, and this one was definitely one of the best. Each group had a unique sound, and that must be good, because they are still around pleasing audiences.

BEST HAPPY TOGETHER TOUR SHOW EVER!!!!

by annieoaklee on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

I have been to many Happy Together Tour Shows in the past but this show at the Keswick Theater in PA with Flo and Eddie, The Grassroots, The Buckinghams, The Association and Mark Lindsay was absolutely the best put together Happy Together show ever. Each group sounded absolutely fantastic. At the end of the show, each group came out with Flo and Eddie of The Turtles and each group sang each other's songs. It was GREAT. I hope this tour comes back to the Keswick again next year. It was a sold out performance. Thank you to each and every member of each group for such an amazing and SOOO entertaining show.

    Mark Lindsey was exceptional

by Bucs on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Overall the concert was very good, The Association was probably the weak link, in my opinion. I was a little disapointed that The Turtles didn't play more songs than they did as I was expecting a few more from them as I thought they were the headliner. I was happy I attended as it brought back many memories.

    Happy Together Tour

    by pat2ski on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves but must say that The Association need to stop performing on tour. Their voices are past their prime and it ruins my memories of my most "Cherished" songs. Mark Lindsey was surprisingly great and looked a lot better than Mick Jagger. The Grass Roots did a fantastic job!

    Happy Together was Happy Together

by yesteryear on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Great venue, seat's and show. The show started promptly and the evening flow'ed seamlesly. A nice tribute to founding member Rob Grill of the Grass Roots who passed away on monday the 11th. The show brought back many memories of day's long past where am radio was the standard and it was OUR music. Music has been an important part of my life and I am extremely greatfull to all of the performers for taking us back to yesteryear. After the show (for those who waited) all of the performers took a moment allowing us to thank them personally. Travel time to show - 41/2 hrs, well worth it and would- will do it again.

    Fantastic Show

    by 42homestead on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

This version of the Happy Together tour is just great. All the acts were tight and sounded great. My only complaint is that the speaker system was a bit fuzzy, all in all, a great time was had by all.

    Worse concert EVER!!

    by Frames26 on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

All of these "acts" should have hung up their gloves years ago. The fact is these groups couldn't even be a cover band of who they once were. The show was horrible! Do not waste your money. Better that you burn it. I only stayed the whole show because my guest was HOPING the next act could perform. The answer, much to her chagrin, was it was just more pain. To make matters worse the air conditioning wasn't working properly.

    I Remember When!

by Rabbott2097 on 7/15/11Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton Beach

We had a great night listening to some of our very favorite songs from a great time in our past!! The majority of people were our age and we all were singing along and doing the remember when thing. Seeing all these acts/bands again in one show was awesome! If you're a "boomer" don't miss this show - great humor, great music, and an all round great night!! The Buckinghams,The Association, the Grass Roots, Mark Lindsay, and the Turtles in the same show was just incredible...I hope they do this venue again next year!

The music is still great after all these years

by RiskyB on 7/15/11Keswick Theatre - Glenside

Mark Lindsay was fantastic. His voice sounds as good as ever. More energy then I have ever seen from a man his age. My only regret is that he didn't do more of his solo work which is great. Grassroots were classy in their remembrances of Rob Grill. Buckinghams know how to open a concert The Association was good. The Turtles were the Turtles. Great songs.
