About

Hania Rani is an award-winning, classically-trained pianist who often blurs the lines between what is classic and what is new. Known for experimenting within the genre of “post-classical,” Rani can be seen surrounded by a piano and several keyboards, and magically weaves together the sound of all of the instruments. Her masterpiece, “Live From Studio S2,” gained over six million views on YouTube in 2021, with Forbes describing it as “hypnotic.” Her eagerly anticipated debut album, Esja, came out one year later and drew immediate acclaim and charted in the UK. Since then, Rani has been prolific, releasing a steady stream of recordings, including her third and latest album, Ghosts (2023), which completes her journey from a classical pianist to an ethereal singer-songwriter.

    Stunning talent

by Ron on 12/13/23Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

Hania's keyboard, vocal, and composing skills are unmatched. Her performance was energized, intense, heartfelt. The seamless blend of electronic techno, classical, and jazz makes each number pulse and swirl. We were standing at the stage just a few feet away from Hania. It was genuinely the best live performance we've ever experienced. Sound quality was superb. We so hope she returns soon for another US tour.

    A transcendent talent

by Bruce Z on 12/11/23The Fillmore - San Francisco

Been waiting quite a while for a composer to captivate me such as this young lady from Poland has recently done. That wait is over. Then, she appeared live in my part of California. So that bucket list wait is also over. She did not disappoint in this show. I am well acquainted with her cross genre, breadth and depth of music compositions. The quasi ambient electronica style that she is most recently exploring is not my favorite among all the other styles that she has explored so far. But it was an interestingly fit, very befitting of the music that graced the walls of this storied venue, the Fillmore, during those iconic Bill Graham years. At times it seemed as if she was channeling Pink Floyd and Emerson Lake and Palmer. So, it was more of a nostalgic moment for this old music curmudgeon, than an experiencing of some of her more unique and forward thinking compositions. However, the complexity, the challenging arrangements and then her craftmanship, needed to pull this show off, was on full display and more than carried the night for me. It made for quite a show, that Friday night, in San Francisco. I should also mention that getting there early combined with the fact that she is still early in her logarithmic rise of popularity on the west coast, gave me the opportunity for a very good viewing and listening spot amongst a full house standing* audience (*note: the Fillmore is still mostly that original dance floor that it was from the beginning and thus standing is what you still do there.). Finally it was fun being around and talking with so many other enthusiastic audience members, Both young and old, many of whom had just discovered this phenom. In the meantime I am going to push to get her at a future Monterey Jazz Festival, in my home town. And where she can show off her euro minimalist / jazz chops.

    Such an amazing musician

by deamos on 12/11/23The Fillmore - San Francisco

Everything about this concert was fantastic, the music and showmanship of Hania Rani was completely on point. The other thing that stood out to me was the lighting, it was perfectly restrained to match the music, but really creatively done. Absolutely brilliant light work. Hania Rani's piano is such a standout, using it both melodically but also percussively. The bass player was also phenomenal.

Even more energy in person than recordings

by DQ on 12/8/23Neptune Theatre - Seattle

You may love Hania's albums and music videos. But if you see her in person, you'll see a whole new level of energy she pours into her performances—including how she dances her feet!

Mind-blowing, best concert ever, by far

by Josh on 12/8/23Neptune Theatre - Seattle

I think people had very different expectations coming into this concert since Hania's music has pretty wide variety and is changing quickly. This was the best of all of her worlds, amazing solo piano and super intense electronic, all combined to create an amazing experience.

Wish she played more of her earlier material

by ML on 12/8/23Neptune Theatre - Seattle

Don't get me wrong, Hania was fantastic. Just wish she played more of her earlier material. Seems the whole set was off the new album, which I'm just not that familiar with. We left the show early. Amazing performance other than that.

    Disappointing venue

by Etienne on 11/26/23Le Studio TD - Montréal

Hania is an incredible artist but Evenko really didn’t choose the right venue for an artist of this caliber. Listening to piano to the sound of beer cans opening, drunk people all over and most of all A TERRIBLE SOUND SYSTEM THAT IS NOT APPROPRIATE TO CLASSICAL MUSIC. We couldn’t hear any of the midrange. Bring Hania to Palais Montcalm, not a théâtre/rock acoustic venue.
