I knew from the first time I heard the music that the show would be stunning. I was not disappointed. There was so much energy and enthusiasm with the cast that there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience. Thanks for bringing this show to my area!

Love the score
The National Theatre - Washington
Great performances, gorgeous scoring, but actual plot and characters felt a bit two dimensional.

This qualifies as the best of comic opera.
The National Theatre - Washington
The music, lyrics, and plot line work smoothly with fantastic characterizations of Eurydice, Orphsus, Hades, Persephone, and particularly, Hermes as the ever necessary messenger.

Great show, not so great seats
The National Theatre - Washington
The show was amazing! However, our seats were not. To our dismay and I am sure everyone in our row, we obstructed view seats. They were not sold as obstructed view, and they should be. We couldn't see the scenes on the balcony. MEZZ, Row M, Seat 106 - 108

Fabulous show
The National Theatre - Washington
Hadestown has quickly become one of my top favorite musicals. This was the 3rd time I've seen the show, and it's still fresh.
The National Theatre was fine although the sound was over-amplified, and the chaos during intermission waiting for the restroom was awful.

Hadestown On Tour
COME SEE HOW THE WORLD COULD BE.
Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show by celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today... and always.
Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell's beguiling melodies and Chavkin's poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers and singers, Hadestownis a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.
