    The Best of the Season

by Teopold on 3/8/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Gypsy, at the Pantages Theater, was wonderfully fun. The acting, voices, dancing, set, everything was fabulous. We sat in the balcony and had good sight lines. The Pantages is a lovely old theater. Thank you for a terrific afternoon!

Gypsy has power, but lacking in performances

by PrettyDamnBlonde on 3/2/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Michelle Barber delivers a strong vocal performance as Mamma Rose, but not desperate enough. Cat Brindisi lacked sex appeal as Gypsy. Her costumes weren't appealing or worthy of the greatest stripper. Choreography was weak throughout the show. For example Tulsa was so-so. His number should be stellar dancing. Set design was intriguing. It had a decayed elegance of a dying Vaudeville. Electra upstaged Mazeppa. I didn't mind that he was in drag, but the others didn't rise up to him. Loved that Rothstein used the kids throughout the show during Little Lamb, flash back on Rose's Turn was chilling. Excellent re-imagining. Despite these points, I still loved it and would recommend you go see it. Greatest musical ever made!! Go see it!

Best event we have taken in in a very very long time. Considering going again, taking an adult child for her birthday. Humour, drama, and marvelous music, all done well.

Michelle Barber, Cat Brindisi and Tod Peterson were brilliant. A must see, to say the least.

    A fantastic telling

by Slicknes on 3/1/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

This was the best telling of Gypsy that I've seen. The cast was entertaining and perfectly suited to the show. Pantages is a fantastic theater. Perfect venue.

    Gypsy: a Triumph

by MeganFrancesGumm on 3/1/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Gypsy is one of my favorite musicals ever since I was in "short pants". I didn't know what to expect as I sat down but once the strains of "I Have A Dream" started by the orchestra I knew this was going to be amazing. There's nothing else compared to LIVE theater. The upstage set was a bit distracting at times as it was stagnant and never used. I took it as a representation of the chaos of their lives but it was distracting especially at the end when Rose was singing her swan song. I wanted a black curtain covering it so all focus could be on ROSE! But I wouldn't say it detracted from the experience too much. Everyone, down from the dog and children to the one guy who played 15 characters, were simply wonderful. The three leads complimented each other well, however it was Michelle Barber that truly was the star. She not only has a beautiful voice and gams to boot, but she made me laugh and cry at just the right spots. Thank you to the cast for a wonderful, Saturday Matinee experience!!

    Great performances-loved Gypsy!.

by WJSMendelssohn on 2/24/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Michelle Barber and her daughter Cat Brindisi are wonderful in the production of Gypsy. It was an enjoyable Sunday afternoon, as this play was so good. Michelle has the ability to pull you in to the story through her beautiful singing voice. Her daughter Cat, has inherited her mother's ability to do this also. Both performed amazingly, and we left the theatre, talking about their performances. Looking forward to their next performance together!

    Somewhat Disappointing

    by 1Scouter1 on 2/23/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

I won't pin our disappointment on the cast necessarily. I should have done my homework on the script and chosen another play.

    Amazing Performance

by townday on 2/22/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

There is at least one major reason to see Gypsy in Minneapolis: Michelle Barber. She delivered one of the most memorable and powerful performance I've seen in my life. Her Mama Rose is as real, complex, touching and sometimes repulsive as a stage character can be. Unlike some other actresses (even great ones) who portray Mama Rose as a comedy character, Michelle Barber adds a great amount of real-life drama supported by her razor-sharp acting and great vocal performance.

    Gypsy was an amazing production.

    by PatsGrl58 on 2/21/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

We were both in aw with the power of Rose's voice but not so much with her heart. And we really enjoyed the talent of little and big June and felt awful how she was treated you her mother. And the heartbreaking patience of Louise and Herbie almost made me cry. The rest of the cast was just as wonderful. We loved it!

    Better than Broadway!

by Sockstar on 2/20/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Latte Da hit it out of the park (or Pantages) with this production of Gypsy. The acting & staging were truly remarkable. Michelle, Cat & Todd, in the lead roles, were just wonderful. I enjoyed Michelle's performance SO much; her voice is incredible (the night I was there she apparently had a bad cold/laryngitis and it was still incredible) and her portrayal of Mama Rose was spot on (I liked it better than Ethel Merman's, which I saw many years ago). Hard to believe that Todd Petersen is old enough to play Herbie, but he was terrific in the role. GO SEE THIS SHOW IF YOU CAN -- great entertainment!

    Gypsy was fantastic!

    by Blackbird59 on 2/17/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

For Valentine's Day my husband took me to see Gypsy. It was a very well-done musical play and received well by the audience. The audience gave the actors a standing ovation at the end!! The singing was excellent, the kids were funny and the play moved along very well. I would recommend it to anyone to go see! We saw families there as well. Tastefully done with the burlesque theme at the end.

    Terrific musical!

    by MN55047 on 2/16/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Gypsy is a terrific show with a fabulous cast. Cat is the most talented actress in the Twin Cities! The show has fantastic set design, great costumes, wonderful children performers, top notch musical productions and a male and female lead that don't miss a beat! Only deviation from my stellar review is that the play runs a bit long, other than that- I'd suggest anyone check this out, it's refreshing, uplifting and a fun night out!

    Lackluster

by TZnMN on 2/16/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

For the first time ever in a Musical, left at intermission. Lackluster vocal talent and/or poor acoustics made Act I drag on. It's a long setup for the start of a storyline at end of Act.

Play got better as it went

by TCtransplant on 2/16/16Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

I was very excited to see this play and it did not disappoint. The actors were fantastic, especially Madam Rose and her daughter Louise. You could really sense the emotions of the characters. The play started off somewhat slow but towards the end I think the entire audience was engaged. I think the background of vaudeville is important to know to fully enjoy the context of the play.
