    The Nutcracker

by Kat on 12/19/23Gas South Theater - Duluth

This was awesome!! The sets were so professional and beautiful!! My DIL is a high school art teacher. She has done sets and was very impressed with these and the technique used! The costumes were gorgeous and the ballerinas very talented. Overall my Daughter (a former ballerina), DIL and two Granddaughters loved it!! We had a fantastic time!!

    Big city experience comes local!

by AmieM on 12/19/23Gas South Theater - Duluth

We usually go to the city to see the Nutcracker but decided to try this local performance of it this year. WE WERE NOT DISAPOINTED! The production and stage sets were absolutely gorgeous. The ballet performances were advanced and captivating! The live orchestra was incredible! And we got front row tickets for a fraction of the price. I don't think we will ever go to the city again.

    Beautiful Family

by Spaceboots04 on 12/15/23Gas South Theater - Duluth

Loved every minute of the performance!!! Brought my daughter (age 3) and now she wants to do ballet! My husband enjoyed it. It was thier first ballet. I used to go every year with my family as a kid. I wanted my family to have the same experience. Brought me back and made me feel like a little girl again! The dancers were amazing! It was great to see all the different ages and ethnicities performing! They all did a great job! But these young performers stole my heart!!! Never got to see a black ballerina and was happy to see them that night! Everyone did an amazing job! The men danced so gracefully! Everyone is skilled. The show was worth every penny!

    Excellent production

by TomH on 12/13/23Gas South Theater - Duluth

The Gwinnett Ballet does not have the resources as the Atlanta Ballet, but the production was excellent as was the dancing and the music with the live orchestra.

    Amazing Nutcracker show

by Helen on 12/12/23Gas South Theater - Duluth

We arrived and went right to our seats with 15 minutes to spare. The orchestra was warming up. The show started and you were able to follow the story line right away. The first act was done to perfection. The dance is traditional and beautiful. Intermission was great. Enough time given for everyone to get refreshments. Second act started. The costumes were true. The art work was beautiful. The dancers were perfect. Such a wonderful experience! Much better than the fox ! I encourage everyone to go next year! You will not be disappointed!

    Wonderful Director's Gala

    by Brenda S on 9/25/23

The GBT Director's Gala was a blast! I really enjoyed meeting the professional company dancers in at the masquerade and watching them perform. It is good to have a professional dance company in Gwinnett.

    Amateur night

by atjcatl on 12/14/14Gwinnett Performing Arts Center - Duluth

We took our 7 year old to the Nutcracker performance last night. The set design and the orchestra were good, and the kids were enthusiastic and charming performers. Unfortunately, the dancing overall is decidedly amateurish. The per ticket cost of $40+ (including convenience fees, etc) is probably worth it if your kid / grandkid is a dancer at this venue, but not otherwise. There were not enough male dancers - a couple of the men on display had paunches, and lacked athletic grace and power.

The Nutcracker PERFORMANCE and Music was Amazing

by smokeyroad on 2/26/13THE NUTCRACKER - WALESKA

I took my 3 year old grandaughter for her first time ever to see this performance of the Nutcracker...and she was so taken by it and so inspired that we now have her in ballet dance school and she loves it....she is very smart and so attentive to everything around her...she caught on to the play very quickly and talked about it for weeks...and still to now she wants to hear the Nutcracker music...which I must add that the orchestra was just so amazing. We now have to be going quite often to the ballet for what this wonderful Nutcracker Ballet has done ....transformed a 3 year old into a ballet dancer....

    Pleased overall

by jreneeb on 1/3/13Gwinnett Performing Arts Center - Duluth

You cannot beat the Gwinnett facilities for a venue. The ballet was well done and seats were good. A good, cheaper alternative compared to the Atlanta Ballet's version at The Fox. However, there really is no comparison. The Atlanta Ballet's version is magical.

    Gwinnett Ballet Nutcracker

by teehee102 on 12/17/12Gwinnett Performing Arts Center - Duluth

For the price it was a good show. We took children who loved it. The Rats were the best part :) The Girl who played Clara was very good.

Wonderful production, good for all ages!!!

by Coffeeguy999 on 12/17/12Gwinnett Performing Arts Center - Duluth

I had seen a production of the Nutcracker at the Fox a couple of years ago, and I actually enjoyed this one more. The intimate setting is a plus. As for the production itself, it is more kid-friendly, with some neat magic acts in the opening scenes (the party), and a more lighthearted performance by the Rat King and the other rats than I've seen in the past. The orchestra performed flawlessly and, though small, the dynamics of their playing were very well-executed, and the additional choral element was nicely done. Lighting and sets were good, although the use and placement of the scrim in the opening scene left me a little confused, hoping the rest of the production wouldn't be like that. It certainly improved greatly from there, and I'd recommend it to anyone!

Amateur production, wish we would have known ahead of time. NOT worth the money charged for the seats

Where did the awesome magician go?

by sharky378 on 12/17/12Gwinnett Performing Arts Center - Duluth

Not near as good as last year. The magician was replaced by a different guy who was not near as good as the original guy. His tricks and presentation was just not up to the magical experience expected. In addition. there was a lack of male dancers it seemed so a lot less lifts and dance moves requiring a pair to execute. There were some exceptional dancers that made the program still a good value and experience for all. There was one boy that really stood out that did excellent jumps and was just incredible. There were great moments throughout the program but lacked the professional feel of previous years.

Nutcracker at Gwinnett was a lot of fun!

by SadieTu3 on 12/17/12Gwinnett Performing Arts Center - Duluth

While a fairly unprofessional performance, it was not nearly as expensive as the more professional performances. The costumes were incredible and the idea of a guest Mother Ginger is great!

    The Nutcracker Ballet was wonderful!

by Betsy3 on 12/11/12Gwinnett Performing Arts Center - Duluth

I took my daughter and my two Granddaughters and they thanked me many times for this. We enjoyed the entire performance and the beautiful sounding music. Great job by all involved and please do it again next year.

My granddaughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the Nutcracker! The dancing, staging, costumes, and orchestra were excellent. We loved the smaller theater and being able to visit with the dancers after the performance .
