About

GWAR IN CONCERT:

When it comes to gory thrash metal spectacle, no other band even comes close to the sick and twisted monstrosity that is GWAR. Taking the stage in gruesomely excellent costumes, the band executes their hilarious metal send-ups with a faux-macabre pageantry that approaches the divine, sacrificing celebrity effigies on stage and dousing entire audiences in fake blood. Whether they're unleashing "The New Plague" or demanding that "Zombies, March!", GWAR put on a show like no other act on earth, and despite longtime frontman David Brockie's recent passing the ever-dedicated band still plans to treat fans to select shows in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Virginia in 1984, GWAR developed an early following with their costumed, prop-filled, spectacle-heavy take on thrash metal. Simultaneously embracing and poking fun at the genre's extremes, the band struck a chord with audiences looking to indulge in metal's excesses without taking them too seriously. Their 1988 debut LP Hell-O was a huge hit in Germany, with subsequent albums like Carnival of Chaos (1997) and We Kill Everything (1999) enjoying considerable success in the US. Over the years, they've landed songs with titles like "Endless Apocalypse" and "War Is All We Know" on charts around the world, an impressive feat for a group of guys who claim the destruction of the human race as their primary goal. In early 2014, GWAR frontman David Brockie was found dead from unknown causes. In a show of tremendous fortitude and strength, the band announced several David Brockie memorial events and still plans to appear at select events throughout the year. Over the course of their career, GWAR have packed venues such as Irving Plaza (NYC), and the Depot (Salt Lake City).

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Gwar rocked, it was fun, the crowd was definitely into it. The pageantry was definitely funny and fun. Be prepared to get covered in blood..."

"If you like metal and have a sick sense of humor, go see them. What a festival of blood, theatrics, and crisply played thrash metal. GWAR was a complete spectacle ."

"GWAR nailed it. Theatrics were well balanced; new album cut is sick. Eagerly awaiting the next show."

    Good Family Fun

by Anonymous on 10/4/09Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

One of those concerts that you'll never forget. Try and do like me and my friend and get to the very front of the crowd. I stayed at the front the entire time. Try your hardest not to lose your spot, because everybody gets jealous and wants your spot. You will be covered in blood and toxic waste and other awesome fluids!!! Bring a change of clothes and a towel.

    Gwar is Gwar but.......

by ccage on 10/4/09Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

Gwar is Gwar either you are into them or not the show is an experience but thier sound crew I wanted to punch in the head. It's a rock concert so why do they have to play rap while waiting for set up? Because they want to show how cool they are . The majority of people at these shows don't listen to that stuff. Then space is limited in these little venues And Gwar is a visual show and the sound crew lets thier buddies into the sound area blocking fans views. So I thank these two idiots running sound for Gwar you ruined 65 percent of the show for me.

    GWAR amazing

by JrEO on 10/1/09House of Blues New Orleans - New Orleans

GWAR was amazing as always. The Red Chord sounded like loud mud and Job for a Cowboy was pretty solid, but GWAR did not disappoint.

GWAR was great, Job For A Cowboy not so great.

by AmyRose88 on 9/21/09SONAR AND TALKING HEAD CLUB AT SONAR - Baltimore

GWAR was really good, I don't think quite as good as their last tour but still worth going to see. Mobile Death Camp was surprisingly very good, and a very charismatic band. Job For A Cowboy on the other hand, sounds good on CD, but I could definitely pass seeing them live.

by SexecutionerGURRLL on 9/21/09SONAR AND TALKING HEAD CLUB AT SONAR - Baltimore

Go to the Lust in Space show and you will never be the same person again. There is nothing more fun than being sprayed in the face w/ the innards of an infant. SEE IT and FEEL IT.

    Gwar does it again!

by Toastypants on 9/21/09SONAR AND TALKING HEAD CLUB AT SONAR - Baltimore

Yet another awesome Gwar show. This was my 6th time seeing em live and they never disappoint. They didn't play as many older songs as I would've like but I do recall them playing 'Maggots' and 'Sick of You'. I missed Mobile Death Camp, the first opener, but Job for a Cowboy were surprisingly good. I do miss the days of the Misfits openin for Gwar though, those were some great shows.

    GWAR. Simply the best.

by Elosias on 9/2/09Seattle SoDo, and others countrywide. - Seattle

I have followed the band since the early 90's, I've been to over 30 of their shows, I have seen countless bodies dropped, untold gallons of various fluids projected gloriously over a throbbing crowd of biohabs, and have even felt the gullet of the world maggot myself. Like Oderus sez, 'this isn't the rock show, THIS... IS A WAR!!!'. From beginning to end, a Gwar show assaults all of your senses, and leaves you begging for more. Oh, and they actually rock too! Lust in Space is a great album, I have high hopes for this tour. No band gives you as much entertainment for your buck, none, never. You like rock, you like live? See a effing GWAR show!!! You won't be the same afterwords.

by xpookiex on 8/24/09Newport Music Hall - Columbus

I have seen Gwar twice and both times they were amazing. They are extremely energetic and entertaining and put a lot into their show and making sure that their fans have a great time. They are probably the best live band I have ever seen.

Gwar should be seen by all rockers before they die

by Cassius on 7/21/09Fire - Jackson

The place where Gwar played kind of sucked. It was small, and I would have liked to have seen them at a larger venue. Also the people who were there were fairly obnoxious. I knew what to expect somewhat from the blood and guts that spray out, which you won't find at other metal shows. That's what makes Gwar so interesting. They're quite funny too for a heavy metal band. I think anyone who likes very hard rock should definetely go see this band.

    Gwar was worth the wait

by padrebob on 7/11/09Fire - Jackson

This wasn't just a concert. It was a spectacle! Hard rock meets comedy, with goop sprayed all over the frenzied audience and puppetry violence on an epic scale. I want to do it again and again and again!
