Great music, strong voices, clear and good vocals. All actors and dancers were first rate. All in all , a fun evening of music and song.

Guys and Dolls - date with my son

by Byrda on 1/28/15Lexington Opera House - Lexington

Took my son to see guys and Dolls in Lexington. He loves musicals but wasn't sure if he'd like this old school musical. He loved it. His favorite parts were the trip to Havana, the prayer meeting, must be doing it for some doll. I have to admit, those were the best parts of the show in my eyes as well. Adelaide was awesome, the perfect person cast for that part.

    Guys & Dolls

by golfparents on 1/27/15Lexington Opera House - Lexington

Guys & Dolls is an "old school" Broadway classic. The story is cute and the script is clever, so combined with enjoyable music, fun costumes and solid set design..... it makes for a fun evening at the theater. In this particular production, the male and female leads (Sky, Nathan, Adelaide, and Sarah) were very strong in their roles. The most disappointing part of the show was the weakness of the female dancers. One of them even fell down and lost part of her costume during the production! The strength of the cast was disappointing because there was quality at the top, but not throughout. To be fair, the last show I had seen was Newsies (Disney) at the KPAC and it was absolutely fabulous! This particular production of Guys & Dolls paled in comparison. With so many incredible shows to see, next time I would save my theater entertainment budget dollars for something with a stronger cast and stronger dancers.

    Disapointed

by JimMit on 1/27/15Lexington Opera House - Lexington

We love live theater. mainly musicals. We go somewhere across the country to see about 10 show a year for the last 50+- years and have NEVER left a show between acts, until now. We like the Opera House, have seen about 6 shows there, and loved them all, till now. Lexington, the hotel and dinner were great! Guys and Dolls was very bland and simply disappointing. Sorry!

Attended matinee showing, theater was just about packed. Seats were very nice & sound was great. Could see actors really were enjoying themselves. Really get to ham it up with this show. Lots of excellent singing/dancing numbers.

Their wasn't any talent in the cast that would cause me to say "wow." I've seen a lot of shows and this one would be at the bottom of my list to see.

I am typically wary of shows that are older and I was pleasantly surprised. Cute and entertaining.

    Guys and Dolls

by DictionaryGirl1 on 1/20/15E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

Bought tickets as a Christmas gift for my daughter, and we LOVED it. Every part was extremely well done. The dancing was phenomenal; my daughter has taken dance for years and thoroughly appreciated the dance numbers, especially the guys during the craps scene and the girls in the bar in Havana. The costumes were beautiful. Sky Masterson had a WONderful warm voice. ALL the singers were great. Nicely Nicely Johnson's "Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat" was amazing. We can't say enough great things about this show, we'd go see it again in a heart beat. (Too bad it wasn't turned into a DVD, we'd buy it.) :o) Thanks, E.J. Thomas Hall/U of Akron, for bringing such a wonderful show to the area! (I'm running out of adjectives.)

    Guys n Dolls (touring)

by Medinagreg on 1/20/15E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

Great show. First time seeing the play, never saw the movie as well. The "Sit down your rock'in the boat" number just might have been the best song and dance I've ever seen in a live production. I thought everyone in he crowd was about to stand up and join in. I think if one person would have, others would have joined in. I was almost that person. Wow. Highly recommend it.
