great time, good cause, good way to spend thanksgiving eve
A large group of us have been going together for the past 10+ years. The bouts are usually very entertaining and the proceeds from the event go to a good cause. The tickets are very reasonable and the crowd seems to grow every year.
fantastic event. The women boxers were especially fantastic.
Excellent event! I've been 6 years straight & will continue to go every year.
Always a great past time for a great cause the support of our public servants is necessary we need more events like this
Pretty awesome! 15 rounds of boxing and all of the fights were great! I'll come back next year!
THIS WAS OUR FIRST TIME GOING AND IT WAS ABSOLUTLEY THE BEST TIME EVER. "WHAT A RUSH" WILL NEVER MISS A SINGLE EVENT...... EVERY THING ABOUT THIS EVENT WAS SO MUCH FUN FOR ALL OF US... THE ONLY DOWN FALL IS .... IT ONLY COMES ONCE A YEAR. :(
Firefighters took it. This always turns out to be a great time. We try to go every year. It's a blast
This was my first year going to Guns and Hoses. I will definitely make this an annual event. It was lots of fun. All of the fighters did really good and the environment was fun and laid back. Oh and did I mention the very attractive men with no shirts on punching each other and sweating? Oh yeah! I also recommend just purchasing the general admission ticket. There are no bad seats.
Boxing? Police vs. Firefighters? What's not to like?
My son and I are not boxing fans, but this event gets us pumped every year. Each bout is three, one minute rounds. This year, 2011, there were fifteen bouts. It's pretty easy to follow what's going on in the ring and even the general admission seats have a good view of the ring. Being only one minute long, each round goes by pretty fast. Highlights from each round are played on the big screens between rounds. The refs will call a fight before anyone gets hurt. This is NOT the bloodbath that the pro fights are. This event is suitable for families, though launguage from some in the crowd, might not be. But I've never seen that as a huge problem. **One note for the first timers in general admission seating: Look at the color of the tablecloths on the tables on the main floor. They are red and blue for IAFF and FOP. You might want to make sure you are sitting on the same end as the side you are supporting. The audience is usually very animated. Programs are available and are reasonably priced, usually $5, so get one. It will help you follow along. Remember that this is just for bragging rights. It is a charity event. Either way, the "Good Guys" always win. General Admission seating is high enough to see down into the ring. I'm not sure the people sitting on the main floor will have as good of a view, but they have food servers down there.
Great time.... The guys really were in shape and put on a great show for the community as well to bring back the exposure of a great sport of boxing.
This event was awesome, unfortunately the firefighters won.
This event was awsome! I have went to this event the last 8 years and i plan on going to all of them. This is a great event for a good cause.
This was an event that I will definitely be attending every year. The $10 24oz beers were a bit excessive but its all going towards the Backstoppers. The event was fun, light hearted and fulfilled every expectation.
I would go again! We had a lot of fun! Lots of good fights!
