Very well organized and ran smoothly. Amazing night of fights!
No Doubt a great charity event for a great cause, but there was way to much time between bouts. How about at the end of the fights, or before they ever begin, all the companies who donated get their picture taken in the ring, rather than all the time between matches. I feel sorry for the last few fighters, because by the time they got around to fighting, more than half the crowd had left.
I always enjoy the boxing and mma fights, although the fight time totals under 1.5 hours. The evening lasts about 5 hours... To much promoting of donation sponsors!!! Alot of times between bouts. I understand that this is a charity event, but we pay to see the fighting, not for the extra time for publicity to reward sponsors/ doners... More fights and less talk would keep my interest...or just a shorter venue(not less fights)...time is important...
This was probably my 5th or 6th time attending and this event was amazing as always. With the recent events involving police officers they honored them with the utmost respect. Security, ticket sales, and parking worked seamlessly. The only compliant that I have is the smoking. I thought there was no smoking aloud within Scot Trade however there were tons of people smoking in the concourse which is fine because within the stadium I could move away from it. Wrong someone who did not even buy tickets for where I was sitting came and sat down and continued smoking within the arena. Very disappointing. Normally there are Scot Trade staff to police those types of situations and I did not see any. Otherwise the night was great!
Friendly competition, great beer, and a huge first responder family making the ScottTrade Center the safest place in the entire State of Missouri! Never even found my seats.
I remember asking my wife about three years ago if she wanted to watch the fights. She said "oh no, I don't like that kind of stuff"! Well she agreed to go, and now she looks forward to it every year. LOL. Being a former Marine, I really appreciate the tribute to the armed forces by the events producers. Thank you, and thank the brave first responders that got in the ring! "Semper Fi"
I hadn't been to the casino for any event before. The Guns n Hoses boxing event to benefit fallen fire and police was a fantastic event. Such energy from the crowd. I wish the seating would have been tiered like in a theater because some times you couldn't always see the action in the ring. Overall a good time.
First time going to Guns and Hoses. It was a great event, not a dull moment. None of the boxers, guys or gals, held back.
More production then previous years, undoubtedly to make up for postponement. Good amateur fights.
I thought the boxing and MMA was entertaining; however in between the matches took an extremely long time due to getting people up in the ring for photos and presentations; took extremely too long and drawn out. We were also shocked, disappointed and irritated by the Scottrade Center to allow people to smoke in the Center. I asked an usher why people were smoking in a smoke free venue and his response was "only for this event do they allow it" - he too was pretty disgusted by the smoking. Really?! ? So they cater to the G&H event? The clouds of smoke was terrible- we had to walk through it to get to the bathrooms ; We did not even stand in a line to purchase food from any concession because of the cigarette smoke. I just could not believe Scottrade would allow this exposure to the public. I would not go back to this event for the above reasons.
Event should have started on time and should have ended earlier otherwise very enjoyable
I bought them for my husband and son. They were very happy to be able to go. We have bible study on Wednesday night, so they normally can't go. God comes first!
The fights themselves were very interesting even if the boxers were amateurs. The match ups for the most part seemed very even with relation to skill. However, there were a few exceptions. The MMA fights were absolute blowouts with each match lasting about 10 seconds. I think it might have taken longer to set up the ropes than the fights. All of that was expected. In my opinion the rounds should be 2 minutes long. With 1 minute rounds each fighter is expending all their energy as fast as they can to score as many hits. It leads to a lot of flailing and not a lot of positioning. This being a charity event means there is lots of times of recognizing sponsors which I understand. However, when it takes 10 minutes to take the pictures for a fight that lasted 3 minutes the people in the stands get bored. Guns and Hoses should limit the amount of people they allow in the ring for pictures or make a fake stage dressed up like a ring for pictures. I'm not sure I'll come back but I'm glad I went. If you haven't experienced Guns n Hoses yet you should. It's a St. Louis institution.
We had a blast. A much more competitive event than I anticipated.
Guns N Hoses is a growing charity event to support the Wichita Crime Commission and MDA charities. Cops and firefighters train to compete in a 3 1-minute rounds per bout of amateur style boxing. The organizers add in a cops-only bar band, Silver and Golden Glove amateur bouts, and the worst emcee ever seen. Overall it is a great night of fun, friends and fighting...but seriously, we can do better for an emcee than Jamie 'All Beered Up' Bluma.
I have been to this event before and was very happy about my choice. This year the fights were good, but little or no info. was given about any of the fighters.
What a great time! The event was awesome! First boxing event I've ever been to and it was great.
The event is a wonderful cause. While it's amateur boxing, it was run professionally and the entrants definitely came to box. There was only one female bout and they gave it their all. I would liked to have seen a couple more female bouts.
An event to fund a cause near to my heart, it is always well organized and cheerful.
Exciting and fun. Great precursor to holiday, fun for all members of family, all ages.
