About

GRiZ in Concert

One of the leading independent artists in electronic music today, GRiZ is the Detroit-born, Denver-based multifaceted artist who's funkin' up dance floors worldwide with his self-described future funk sound, which mixes electronic music with his fiery live saxophone, energetic funk, and sweeping electro-soul.Ā

Following a full year of self-reflection and creative development, GRiZ returns with ā€˜Ride Waves,' his new self-released album due out April 5, 2019. As his most creatively ambitious and most personal project to date, the 14-track album features collaborations with major artists like Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Matisyahu, DRAM, and Bootsy Collins and sees the producer taking his sound toward uncharted territories in hip-hop, pop, and dance music, all while keeping the funky GRiZ sound intact. The album follows his breakout album ā€˜Good Will Prevail' (September 2016), which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Electronic chart and charted on the Billboard 200 chart.

GRiZ's live shows, which mix improvised saxophone, guitar, and vocals and include the 15-piece GRiZ Live Band, have become massive draws around the world. In addition to mainstage performances at major festivals such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands, as well as headlining sets at Electric Forest and Lightning in a Bottle, GRiZ has headlined and sold out Denver's legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre for four consecutive years. www.mynameisgriz.comĀ

  • Griz 10/10 Alpine Valley 5/10 Live Nation 0/10

by Annapyra on 9/20/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 2 out of 5

The venue was beautiful. Griz was amazing as usual. Unfortunately I felt unsafe for multiple reasons concerning venue management. Water fill stations weren't on for half the event. Leaving only canned water to drink which was really gross or alcohol. There was an overwhelming police presence, conducting illegal searches, and they were harassing many people.

  • Sound was awesome Amenities were great

by Charm on 9/20/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 5 out of 5

Sound quality was great, staff were welcoming and helpful, amenities felt like a nice step up from the usual at music festivals. Had a great time!

  • wonderful beautiful amazing - screaming crying throwing up

by Gabrielle on 9/20/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 5 out of 5

This show was outstanding. The venue was wonderful lines were not long at all, and our VIP party bus was able to get in and out with EASE! I WOULD 1000% GO AGAIN! I had so much fun with my group of about 30 people. Can't wait to see more Griz Shows!

  • Griz and the rest of the performer's were amazing.

by Domino on 9/20/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 3 out of 5

Inside the venue the staff was great, especially the ushers. Now the problem. All the Nazi K9's were completely unnecessary. That made alot of people uncomfortable and honesty scared. Hire private security, and leave the sheriffs and state highway patrol at home. Other than the Gustapo security, triple rainbow was awesome.

  • Amazingggg 🄹

  • Perfect!

by Katie on 9/20/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 5 out of 5

Went to both nights of Grizz and my only complaint is that I would have loved a longer Clozee set!! Alpine Valley made us feel very welcome. It’s a beautiful venue with great views from everywhere!

  • Still have some kinks to work out

by Sam J on 9/20/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 4 out of 5

The music was fabulous, as would be expected for a GRiZ presents production. We were bummed that music only went until about 11:30 and getting set times earlier than the day before the show would've been preferred. We ended up missing most of the first day of music because I couldn't take off work to get there in time since we had such little notice of when music would be happening. There was also a fair amount of confusion about the seating sections - there were GA lawn tickets and GA seated tickets, but not a ton of signage or information about where we were supposed to go. I also had an issue with my two-day ticket in that it only showed up as the first day on the ticket I was sent from Ticketmaster. Luckily, the venue was willing to work with me for day two, but it was unnecessarily stressful. Overall, it was a great experience, but I think it needs some adjusting in subsequent years.

  • Not bad

by N. T. on 9/20/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 4 out of 5

Great lights and visuals. Music should have been louder, never have I gone to an outdoor concert and not needed to wear hearing protection like this weekend.

  • Show was Amazing, Security needs to chill

by WooksGoneWild on 9/20/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 3 out of 5

Probable cause thrown at everything does NOT give the right to search camps upon already clearing security

  • Amazing in every way

Griz set was amazing but the security and live nation was garbage all the djs were amazing need to work on staff and security

  • First time at alpine

by Flatwater on 9/19/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 5 out of 5

Ill keep it brief and to the point, the venue is large and set perfectly with the pavilion pushing awesome sound to the crowd. I came for the EDM and believe Alpine could benefit a lot by hosting more EDM artists in their venue. I had a great time and Griz was groovy af along with LSDream and others, good vibes all around

  • Legendary weekend

by Animal on 9/19/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 5 out of 5

Never been to alpine but I heard griz was throwing down a two day get together and I had a nice group of friends already going. Somehow got super lucky and found two artist pre-sale tickets for 37 bucks each. The lineup second day was by far the coolest thing I've ever been to. Griz getting dirty both nights was really cool to be a part of. The xroud and the energy were phenomenal. I heard some horror stories about camping but we had air bnb and hotels. I loved it. Really hope griz does that again next year

  • I loved it and hope he does it again

by K-won on 9/19/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 5 out of 5

I loved everything about the festival. The only thing i would change is the drink prices and maybe having water stations at more places or allowing in hydration packs. But the vibes were wonderful the production was fantastic and i really hope it comes back next year

  • Amazing.

by Bw on 9/19/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 5 out of 5

The show was absolutely incredible. The sound, lights, pyro. Everything.

  • Triple Rainbow

by Rylee on 9/19/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 2 out of 5

Parking was great but you guys didn’t allow me or other flow artists to bring our flow toys in. The only flow toy allowed in the venue was poi balls not cool! Security guards were also so mean they thought my heavier friend was stashing soemthing in his sweatshirt but it really was just his hoodie under his jersey that was all bumpy. They were so aggressive with him. Music was quiet. Never going back.

  • Great show, horrible venue staff

by Joe on 9/19/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 1 out of 5

Great show by Griz and openers. The worst unecessary security i have ever seen in my 25 years of concerts. Cops every 20 feet leaving the venue because the town of East Troy wants to make money on concert goers here.

  • Amazing concert!!

by Nikki on 9/19/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 4 out of 5

The crowd, the energy, the music was absolutely amazing! We were able to be on a deck and that was wonderful. Alpine is a beautiful venue. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is how high the prices are. A 24 ounce bud lite cost $20. That's ridiculous. Griz absolutely rocked though. We had about 20 people with us and every one of us had a great time!

  • GRiZ Triple Rainbow Night One

by Andrew Pacman on 9/19/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 4 out of 5

There was a group of five of us that arrived at the venue parking lot around 4pm. Walworth county and Wisconsin state patrols were all outside and inside the venue directing traffic and helping the flow of incoming cars. We were able to drive all the way to the back lot and park without waiting in line. Once parked we waited at our vehicle socializing until 4:30pm. We proceeded get into the line for the event and make our way to our seats. The line at the west entrance went fairly quick. The metal detectors were very sensitive to the environment with the wind and even a slight bump from people setting them off as they went through. Once we made it through security, we waited in line to get a drink. $22 for signature drinks in a take home shaker cup. $19 refills. Water was $9 a can but if your group had a designated driver they could get a wrist band for water or soda at the expo center. The golden hour set from GRiZ started around 530pm. There still wasn't many of the actual seats filled at this point. The lawn seating area was slowly filling up, but not like we were used to seeing when Dead and Company had played there in the past. Security to the seats and the pit were checking and watching to make sure noone without the proper credentials would sneak into areas they didn't belong. When LSDream's set started he asked everyone to move closer and allowed lawn ticket holders to move down into the seating area to fill the immediate stage. LSDream had a great set!!! The song flow was awesome and the lights also. We even got to talk and shake hands with him by the sound booth as GRiZ started his set. Once GRiZ started his set, he utilized more of the stage area than any other artist that night. Just before GRiZ's set, he asked everyone to move even closer from the lawns. It looked fairly empty in the back lawn area once this happened. I was hoping the venue would have been packed at this point but unfortunately it wasn't. The show and performances during the night were awesome!!! GRiZ killed it like always. Triple Rainbow had the full spectrum of colors on the stage. Super vibrant and that Saxophone melts the soul everytime I hear it. I was super stoked to see an EDM show at Alpine Valley, hoping that this would be the start of many other artists coming to perform there. Once the show was over, It took over an hour to leave the parking lot from the Red Lot after getting to our vehicle. Everybody in our group had a great time and would love to participate in other events like this in the future. A few concerns our group had was that there is a lack of close hotels in the immediate area. Limited camping on site and no other close alternatives makes future shows concerning. More over night accommodations and closer lodging would help convince the few of our friends that were on the fence for this show to come next time something like this comes to Alpine Valley.

  • Griz is the best, Ticketmaster/ security is the problem

by Sky Burns on 9/19/22Alpine Valley Music Theatre - East TroyRating: 5 out of 5

Griz and his openers killed it! But Ticketmaster is a really frustrating and difficult company that has a monopoly on most ticket sales. The security people were okay, but they would make us walk all the way around the edge of the seats even though I could have walked strait down the steps and it was a much shorter walk. They also were pretty stingy on what people could bring to the venue.
