I drove to GVL from Asheville NC to see the concert and Fireworks. While the GSO performed admirably, I thought that playing a condensed, short-short version of the 1812 Overture kinda left me feeling a little down. The fireworks, however, did brighten the night a bit. Would go again next year.
The concert started on time and proceeded through a variety of patriotic, big band, and show tunes appropriate for the 4th of July.
The Greenville Symphony did a outstanding performance. The test firing of the cannons scared everyone that was there. That was great. I hope this becomes a yearly event. I will go again and I will bring more people with me too. It was a good time by all. There was enough different types of music that everyone could enjoy the music.
