Rules are "Rain or Shine"... I thought that meant that there's a performance if it rains or if it shines...I get that. So, not wanting to waste the money I spent on tickets, I packed to listen in the rain - it was forecast a week in advance of the 4th. Sure enough, we got rain. After 15 minutes of downpour, the strings left. Luckily, we heard the brass and woodwinds play the Star Spangled Banner, then The Stars and Stripes while we waited for the fireworks. Five minutes after the Stars and Stripes was over, we get the announcement that it was too wet to light the fireworks! (although other places around the area were having a heyday shooting off fireworks).
I didn't realize the "Rain of Shine" really meant, "Rain or Shine, we keep your money!"
Sad I didn't get to hear the symphony - I am a huge fan - but sadder to learn that the venue isn't organized enough to have contingency plans for rain...such as keeping the fireworks dry!
