  • Ehh

by Anonymous on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 3 out of 5

Its not the cast's fault. This just isn't a great show...still searching for a plot. More character development would make a difference...guess we have to keep things short for youth....but it ought to make sense.

  • Amazing Show!! Cannot recommend highly enough!!

by JohnMHK on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Peabody Opera House was a great venue: classy with great sound characteristics. The show? Completely amazing!! Not sure what fans of "traditional" musical theater will think of this but... Anyone who is a remote fan of Green Day should love this show. I'm hoping to catch it again before the tour ends. Maybe a long weekend in San Francisco.

  • Im the idiot for buying the tickets

by Imheer on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 1 out of 5

I can't remember seeing anything as nonsensical as this. Half way through I was squirming in my chair and praying for the end to be near, not of my life mind you, just the show. On the positive side, there were some nice tunes and good voices; the dancing was very accomplished as well. The problem is, none of it makes sense and it all just looks like a bunch of 'Idiots' dancing around on the floor for no apparent reason

  • Green Day American Idiiot

by SchoolPsych02 on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 4 out of 5

I have loved Green Day's music, especially American Idiot, so I was aware of the language and content. Many teenagers were in attendance and it was probably not suitable for them at their age. The singing and dancing were fabulous!

  • American Idiot Rocked!!!

by cdbstl76 on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

The visual and lighting effects used to totally transform a relatively static stage setting was well done. The story being told was truly reflected in the songs. Great show all around!

The sound clarity was amazing and the entire performance was incredible!

  • American Idiot was Amazing

by Ace100 on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

I have never seen a show as good as this was. The set was simplistic yet very versatile. The music was awesome. Never a dull moment during the show. Fast paced as to being complared with other musicals. It hits right home with today's problems of America's youth and young adults.

  • American Idiot was brilliant

by gatmore on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

American Idiot was absolutely brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed it but due to subject matter, for mature audiences only. A very professional production.

  • Green Day's American Idiot - highly recommended!

Great production - awesome venue at the newly renovated Peabody Opera House. Really enjoyed the music - the music makes the show.

  • Couldn't understand one word

by RobTB on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 2 out of 5

The music wasn't too loud and I'm not hard of hearing and I had excellent (expensive) seats but, when the players would sing together, my wife and I couldn't understand one word they were singing. Solo performances were fine but in every other case you couldn't follow the story cause you didn't know what they were singing. I can't believe any sound engineer would be allowed to let this happen so I'm wondering if the venue caused the problem forcing the engineer to set things that way. I was terribly disappointed because I saw the opening on the Tony awards two years ago and was excited when it came to my town. I cannot advise anyone to see this.

  • American Idiot was a 21st Century Rock Jam!

by nickelct on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Great music, excellent musicians, and an overall A++! Loved it!

  • Overall a go.

by marklberry on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 4 out of 5

American Idiot delivered a high energy, sing-along, fun experience. The actors, music, production, and venue were excellent. The only thing left to be desired was more of a plot. The show mostly felt like watching music videos--light and entertaining with any significant meaning left to our imaginations. Nevertheless, it's overall a go.

I really enjoyed American Idiot! I'm not especially a Green Day fan but still followed everything and enjoyed the music. I loved the staging and choreography. It's a really energetic, infectious rock musical, which is what I expected and loved. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me is that I never really felt any strong connection with the characters--whether that's a personal thing or a narrative issue, I can't really say. Still worth seeing the show, though!

  • A Unique Experience in Musical Theatre

by urbantreker on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

You will not have heard this music in another production or seen choreography quite like this. It is a very intense, in-your-face, emotional journey in the lives of three young men.

  • I paid how much for this??

by DramaQueen786 on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 2 out of 5

When I ordered my tickets, I was not expecting a one act musical. I kept waiting for the intermission, and the next thing I knew, they were taking a curtain call. It was only an hour and a half long and there was little resolution at the end. The best thing about the show was the scenic design and the lighting; it was very creative (I later learned it earned the Tony in those categories). As far as ticket cost, I suppose they had to pay for all those flat screens and Flying by Foy somehow. Ultimately, I was disappointed.

  • Loved American Idiot

by marypott on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

The music was great, the acting was great, the set was great and the band was great! Would not take anyone under the age of 17! Think about the other adults being uncomfortable by the fact that you brought your children. It is beyond an R rated movie.

  • soundtrack is better and cheaper than show itself

by territorial on 3/6/12Peabody Opera House - St. LouisRating: 3 out of 5

glad i went, but it was only meh. the music is great but the show itself was nothing spectacular. I love the different approach at green day's music.

This show was amazing! Great music, representation, dancing. I loved the way the band was featured on stage! Everyone should go see it!
