My husband and I saw 3 of the Broadway in Bakersfield series. American Idiot was by far the Best of the 3. The band, the acting, the singing, the scene on the stage, Everything was great. It was a great show!! We enjoyed ourselves very much.

    American Idiot was awesome!

by Baerinin on 5/23/14Rabobank Theater and Convention Center - Bakersfield

We had a great time at this musical. The performers did a great job and the set design was incredible. I was a little worried at the beginning of the show that the singing would be up to par, but they locked it in and gave great performances! I would happily go and see this show again!

    Fantastic!

by lisascm on 5/23/14Rabobank Theater and Convention Center - Bakersfield

American Idiot was more than I expected. The band was talented, the cast portrayed "real life" and could belt out a good one. Props/stage was perfect. I was impressed at how they wove all the songs together through the story. My favorite part though was after the curtain dropped the first time and then all of the cast came back for 1 last song. LOVED THAT!

American Idiot is the only musical worth seeing

by Robert9485 on 5/23/14Rabobank Theater and Convention Center - Bakersfield

Fantastic performance. The whole cast did a stellar job covering Green Day. Carson Higgins was an Epic St. Jimmy the only one who could have played it better is Billy Joe himself as he occasionally did in the original production. And I'm pretty sure it was Chelsea Turbin who played Heather in Bakersfield- her voice was pristine. Girls got some pipes! She needs to be cast as the lead female. Everyone was great but these two really stood out to both my wife and I. We drove 6 hours from Tahoe on a Tuesday to catch this and it was worth every second. WELL DONE CAST!!!

    American Idiot was Great!!!!!!!!!!!

by bobeo52 on 5/1/14Rialto Square Theatre - Joliet

Show was very good...The musical and stories of the conflicts and probems of todays youth reminded me of our struggles from the 60's..Definitly would recommend American Idiot and would even see again if it comes back around....

by Stellasaurus on 4/30/14Keith Albee Theater - Huntington

I bought tickets for my boyfriend for his birthday and I didn't really know what to expect because I'm not really a Green Day fan, but it was amazing! The acting was great as well as the singing and choreography! I would love to go see it again! I went home and bought the entire album and I can't get those songs out of my head! I sing them all day!

The Rock Opera of My Generation

by TaraJMo on 4/28/14Keith Albee Theater - Huntington

If you need dialog, you didn't grow up in the the 1990's and you aren't a Green Day fan. Fantastically produced and executed.

    American Idiot was energetic!

by GrandmomTimes5 on 4/28/14Rialto Square Theatre - Joliet

This show was absolutely fabulous. The songs, dancing, and energy; I was exhausted at the end of the play, but in a good way. I enjoyed the story line. I bought tickets originally for my son & his girlfriend, but he insisted I get tickets for me & my husband as he's a huge Green Day fan. All four of us were so focused, that when the show ended we just went "wow, that was great.!

Green Day's American Idiot Totally Rocked!!!!

by star21cat on 4/28/14Keith Albee Theater - Huntington

The music and stage design were incredible! If you love Green Day's music you will thoroughly enjoy this show which includes songs from the American Idiot album, as well as a few of the band's more recent songs. The show was never dull and we never wanted it to end. How often can you say that about a play? The plot was very thin but we did not mind in the least because the music and dancing more than made up for it. This show was a whole lot of rocking fun. I would highly recommend it for teens and adults.

It was okay. At first I was bored because it was just people singing Green Day songs and I felt like I was at a high school play. After the fifth song the story line picked up and it was much better. I wouldn't recommend it though, especially for the price.

    Would See It Again!

by Absurdity on 4/26/14Rialto Square Theatre - Joliet

The aesthetics of the show were completely in line with what I expected from a musical\rock opera based on a Green Day album. It was totally enjoyable. The only troublesome moments were some of the flashy lights, I am light sensitive so I had a headache all of the way home, but I still consider the show worth it.

Green Day has always been one of the best lyrical bands of the past 20 years and they're just getting better. With 20/20 hindsight it seems inevitable that their powerful and significant American Idiot album would evolve and be spread to a far greater audience who had probably heard of them but wrote them off as a typical screaming punk band. They are much more and now more people will know it. I expected this production to be really good but it was better than expected. Should play for years and become a significant touchstone that defined s time in our history from one of the greatest bands of all time.

    Fun Rock Show

by Connie89 on 4/26/14Rialto Square Theatre - Joliet

I took my 12 year old daughter how is a huge Green Day fan. We had so much fun! The performers were great. It was really loud and energetic. It felt more like a rock show than a musical. The Rialto is a beautiful venue.

Liked the music and energy. Absolutely no plot.

by Kansasfansince1975 on 4/26/14Rialto Square Theatre - Joliet

The reviews have been pretty accurate for this show. If you LOVE Green Day's music, you will probably like this show. Other than that, it was kind of fun to see the kids put on their high energy dances and songs, but the plot was just absolutely pointless. I cringed a bit for the older folks who showed up for this show, because of the foul language and lack of a point. They showed up to see a Broadway show, and this really wasn't that. It was a bunch of Green Day songs, loosely tied together and sung and danced to by a young group of performers. There were a few times where the music really grabbed me and I enjoyed it, so overall, yes, I'd say it was fair. I wasn't miserable, but I certainly never felt like I was at a quality event. The real fans will like it. Others won't.
