It was like being in New York the talent was tremendous the music the costumes were beautiful wish I could see it again
The introduction to the ballet with most of the cast was phenomenal. As the story line continued, it lacked stability and continuity as the flow of events became secondary to the dance performances. Both could have been achieved but this was not the case. As a result, the storyline suffered in lieu of the dance which was disappointing as the theme per se was lost in a disjointed attempt to showcase a certain select few star dancers overshadowing the other talented supporting cast. As the main characters repeatedly performed, exited the stage and then reappeared for yet another number, I became bored and found this mundane at best. This repetition actually retracted from the previous number performed instead of enhancing it. Although the costumes were exquisite, variety in a more flowing or alternative presentation would have been refreshing, especially for the leads. The choreography was meticulous and creative but again, it would have been superior if blended with the storyline instead of being separated in blocks of dances.
This was a must see event that did not disappoint.
My husband and I went to see the Nutcracker ballet and had a wonderful time! Our seats were in the mezz row c, seats 31 & 32. Perfect view. Could see the dancers very clearly. Row a would be the best seats. Plan on seeing Sleeping Beauty in February. Can’t wait!
This play was amazing. Could see and hear great from the balcony. Brought back great childhood memories.
The music was fabulous as well as the dancing. My only problem was the balcony woman’s bathroom only has 3 seats in it and there were more than 100 women to use it in the 20 minute intermission. That’s not right. We had to step on toes and fumble our way back to our seats in the dark!
Great venue and great performances by the GRB team. I took my daughter along with her boyfriend and they loved it. Thank you for the wonderful Christmas time experience with the Nutcracker.
Everything about this performance was a standout. The dancers and the ballet routines all very good. In fact impressive with some of the major characters. Grand Rapids Ballet seems to be a great academy of passionate performers, not only for the benefit of the art, but the audience as well. The Orchestra was dynamic and the precision of Tchaikovsky was in all it's grandeur with both instrument, musician, and on stage performances. Thank you for a wonderful show.
This is the second time we have seen the GR Ballet perform the Nutcracker, the time between those performances over 10 years . My daughters were little girls the first time around and are now adults , but the pure magic of watching these amazing ballet dancers and orchestra perform in this wonderful production is still touching our hearts . It was phenomenal, the set design stunning , the orchestra and music beautiful and the ballet cast is just superb. Truly still a magical experience at any stage in time for any age . Bravi to all
Wonderful professional production of an all time favorite. The quality of dancing was excellent, the presentation was timeless. A few variations from the classic Balanchine version, were welcomed! The Costumes… stunning! Supportive music was excellent. An all around perfect ballet to suit the season.
The Nutcracker was amazing! Such beautiful scenery, music and dancers. ❤️
Despite the ballets' very slow start, it picked up nicely in 2nd half. That was also when the orchestra seemed to recall it was supposed to be playing everything from Tchaikovsky's symphony. The loudest applause by far went to the gentlemen performing the Russian Dance. Bravo!

Loved it! Easy to buy tickets. Easy to use tickets in my Apple Wallet. The ballet was fun and beautiful and humorous. We love this Christmas tradition.
I'm a little prejudiced because my Grand daughter was dancing in the Nutcracker, and she always does a spectacular performance !!!
Nice performance. Grand daughter really enjoyed it. A few hiccups but a good show.
The ballet performance was fantastic! Excellent, strong dancers - we found the male performances particularly noteworthy. The set design/activity was impressive, and the live orchestra was very good as well. The venue was comfortable, easy to move through. Lines at intermission are quite long, for both the restroom and refreshments. We ended up skipping a snack to get back to our seats in time for act 2. An extra beverage stand or two might be a good idea.
Our 17th year at The Nutcracker and we were, once again, not disappointed! The performers, scenery, music were fantastic. We miss Mother Ginger and the scarf dance. We look forward to other performances this winter.
