About

Graham Nash in Concert

Graham Nash's long and tuneful career includes his singing with the Hollies' bright British folk-pop, the tightly harmonized classic folk-rock of Crosby, Stills & Nash (& Young), and his own deeply personal singer-songwriter albums.

Born in 1942 in war-scarred northern England, Nash was always on a high, at least vocally. He began singing airy tenor harmonies as a teenager alongside school friend Allan Clarke, and the pair co-founded the Hollies named after Texas rocker Buddy Holly in 1962. Nash-Clarke creations such as "On a Carousel," "Bus Stop," and "Jennifer Eccles" are just a few of the Merseybeat combo's more than 30 charting singles.

Following a life-changing evening of music at soon-to-be-girlfriend Joni Mitchell's Hollywood Hills home in 1968, Nash left everything behind to cast his fate with former Byrds member David Crosby and former Buffalo Springfield member Stephen Stills as Crosby, Stills & Nash. Nash's "Marrakesh Express" and "Lady of the Island," an ode to Mitchell, made the supergroup's 1969 debut album an American folk-rock classic.

The trio wouldn't record another album until 1977's CSN. Nash found a creative outlet in the luminous Songs for Beginners, the first of several solo albums, and Graham Nash David Crosby, which launched the duo's productive longtime partnership onstage and in the studio.

Nash is both a romantic and an activist. His ravishing love songs are counterbalanced by politically engaged material like "Military Madness," "Chicago," "Barrel of Pain," "Soldiers of Peace," and "Immigration Man."

A photo collector since the early 1970s, Nash auctioned off more than 2,000 prints through Sotheby's in 1990 for $2.4 million, a record amount for a single collection of photographs. "Recycling is fun," Nash commented as iconic images by Diane Arbus and Ansel Adams found new owners.

Inspired by a major life change, the two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee released This Path Tonight, his first solo album in 14 years, in 2016. In 2018, he released Over the Years, a career-spanning anthology. He's back on the road again and singing better than ever.

"I want my audience to know two things," Nash told Songwriting. "One, I want to be there for them... And the second thing I want is to see them smiling on the way out. That's when I know that I've done my job as a musician."

What a wonderful night with my wife listening to Graham and his 2 band mates. 3 guys made it seem like there were 6 people up there. Grahams voice is 99% there. The music hits your heart and I give the night a 10. The Lady of the Island gave me goosebumps. Thanks Graham for a very special night and the memories ❤️

The Birchmere is an amazing venue.. Graham Nash still has an awesome voice! Great in the piano/guitar and harmonica! Sang some Hollies, solo and CSN music… the guitarist and keyboard player were fantastic… did miss the pure harmony of a CSN concert.

    Graham Nash - Burchmere

by PopPop on 4/21/23Birchmere - Alexandria

Still has a voice in command of every note. Mixed the Hollies, CSN&Y and newer songs into a remarkable evening. He had us all mesmerized, singing the chorus as if we were part of the performance. Finished with a tribute to Buddy Holly that took us back in time to simple R&B. As fine a concert as I have ever attended.

    Great time!

by MJ on 4/17/23The Colonial Theatre - Phoenixville

The venue was the perfect site for this intimate show. Sound and visual lines were great. Graham Nash is a charming performer with an amazing catalogue of iconic songs. Acoustic and electric guitars, plus keyboards, meant that no one went home with a headache, even with all that jamming music. It was fun for the audience to sing along on some of the choruses, too. SO GLAD I was able to be there.

    Graham Nash Phoenixville Pa

by Stealth#1 on 4/17/23The Colonial Theatre - Phoenixville

It was great to see Graham back on the road. Voice sounded great and set list was excellent. Both Shane and Todd really do an excellent job on guitar and organ. He's always changing his set list since he has so much material to pull from. I hope he does some material from the new CD out next month. Definitely worth your time to see the legend.

    Fantastic

by Chief on 4/16/23The Colonial Theatre - Phoenixville

Unbelievable to see the 81 year old perform like a man much younger ! He did both of my favorite songs, and one song from each of the other members of CSNY and 2 from the Hollies. There were times when the house lights were turned on and he encouraged everyone to sing and it was an amazing experience. Big movie screen behind him with beautiful pictures relating to the song. I’m so happy that I purchased the tickets (regardless of the highly over-priced tickets) we enjoyed a nice dinner outside across the street first and then saw this amazing show !

    Excellent performance

by Mrs Z on 4/15/23The Colonial Theatre - Phoenixville

Graham Nash was fantastic. His vocals were amazing. The set list encompassed all the decades of his career. He had 2 other musicians who also harmonized with him. Not quite CSNY equivalent but not too shabby! He was funny and his backstories of the songs were entertaining. No complaints regarding the actual show. BUT…the venue was small and the audience behavior of obnoxious cell phone use during the entire concert was not only annoying but downright rude. It’s really a shame that a lovely evening was spoiled by people who cannot just “be” in the moment.

    He’s still got it !

by Dewey on 4/15/23The Colonial Theatre - Phoenixville

Graham was great , no complaints there. The audience on the other hand was pretty annoying. I wish so bad that people could just live in the moment and get off their damn phones ! Blue screens and flashes … ugh ! People can really be self absorbed.
