About

Gov’t Mule stormed the jam band scene in 1994 with a bluesy blend of Southern rock. Guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody originally formed the band as a side project of the Allman Brothers Band. Gov’t Mule's music is defined by its noodling blues-rock jams and Parliament-funk freak-outs. The band’s concerts and tours bring to mind legendary 1960s acts like Cream, Grateful Dead, the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Little Feat. Gov’t Mule have been a staple on the summer festival scene since their inception, entertaining college kids and older hippies alike. The mid-1990s represented the height of the jam band circuit, but while other contemporary bands faded away, Gov’t Mule kept on trucking. For the past two decades, Gov’t Mule has been entertaining ticket buyers with good old-fashioned Southern rock and roll, with songs and set lists that seem to rise, swell and go on for hours. Today, Gov’t Mule are one of the last pillars of the jam band scene.

In 2013, Gov’t Mule released the double-album, Shout!, their first LP in four years. Gov’t Mule is always trying to do new things and push the creative envelope, and Shout!'s first disc is entirely new material, while the second disc is comprised of cover versions of the first album's tracks, featuring collaborations with high-profile musicians like Elvis Costello, Ben Harper, Dave Matthews and Steve Winwood. Gov’t Mule has released nine studio albums and several live discs. The band scored its highest chart release with 2006's High & Mighty, which peaked at No. 3 on the U.S. Indie Chart. Gov’t Mule is currently in the midst of the Time to Shout Tour, and fans know the band will be jamming long into 2014 and beyond.

    Horrible sound

by KSB on 2/24/24Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - Albuquerque

This show could have been great, but the sound was muddy, the drummer dominated throughout and was repetitious and the vocals were completely unintelligible. We left at the first band break. I would have loved to see the Pink Floyd covers but it wouldn’t have been worth it to that stuff butchered by bad sound.

    One of the best!

by Chaz on 2/24/24Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - Albuquerque

Govt Mule put on a spectacular performance. The music was extremely intricate with complex rhythms and chord progressions. The band was tight and the variety of sounds filled the venue. I have liked Warren Haynes for awhile now but he has gone to new heights in his creativity and versatility. Thank you Govt Mule.

Gov't Mule is one the best jam bands to see. Seen them before and most definitely will see them again. Warren Haynes was a great singer song writer with the Allman Brothers and continues be great with the Mule. Also a great guitarist for sure.

    Solid show

by Feickman on 2/22/24Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

One thing about the Mule. You never know what Warren will play. And I always enjoy that. The second set was filled with a nice selection of covers and original. The show lasted about 2 1/2 hours. So you will get a full dose of mule blues and rock.

    Review

by Lance on 2/21/24The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - Lincoln

They sounded pretty good. I wish they had played more of their popular hits like "inside woman". I did notice sadly that a lot of people left very early. Not sure why.

    Awesome fun

by Sixstrgrzr on 2/21/24The Wiltern - Los Angeles

Arrived at venue a few minutes after showtime, bought our shirts, sat down, lights went out and it started... great show... just wish I could have seen around Man Mountain Fink sitting directly in front of me... that's my only complaint.... I know, he's gotta sit somewhere, but why is he always in front of me?? .. at least my date had a clear view.,..

    Gov’t Mule Satisfies

by Stella451 on 2/21/24Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

Gov’t Mule brought their jam band show to the Palms in Las Vegas and delivered a great performance that covered most of that musical genre. Warren Haynes was in great form and voice playing his Les Pauls and a Firebird for the opening number. Surprises included a rousing version of Bob Seger ”s Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man, the Dead’s Sugaree and a tribute to Jeff Beck playing Freeway Jam.

    Not Quite There

by Kevin T on 2/21/24Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

First of all, I’ve always like Warren Haynes and Gov’t Mule…but this concert felt lacking. My honest opinion? These casino venues are pretty uptight about the crowds letting loose, and also the volume. There was no standing room in front if the stage, and, though I don’t support ear-splitting volume, I felt the volume was too low and c’mon, this is a rock concert. I think the band was feeling this and didn’t seem to get into it. My personal opinion.

    Great Show

by Gov't Mule Kicked Ass! on 2/21/24Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

I've always loved this venue due to the more intimate nature with fewer seats and great sound. That coupled with Gov't Mule's music made for a great show, thank you!!

Wonderful time at the Palms, LV NV

by Pabla on 2/21/24Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

Traveled to LV from out of State to enjoy some great music. Took my Daughter and her Partner, they loved it. Warren Haynes still has a great voice. We all walked away with a greater appreciation for older musicians, and their craft.

    People demanded and they delivered

by Learjet on 2/21/24Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

An amazingly tight and profession band that was an absolute treat to partake of. You can see what 30 years of refinement has resulted in - a technical tour de force that would be difficult for any other band to surpass. The new bass player is working out well and the substitution drummer was as professional as they get. Frankly, it seemed to me the 4 of them have been together from day 1, that's how tight it was. Bonus Treat: Their version of Savoy Brown's Street Corner Talking was worth the admission itself.

    Great show. Great venue

by GOZ on 2/21/24Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

Govt Mule was in great form. They seemed to be having fun and the audience was too. The Palms Pearl auditorium is nice. Good Acoustics. Spacious isles. Bars on every level. Even had cocktail waitresses. With that said, it sure would be nice if they had cup holders. We had tons of fun!

    Virtuoso Guitar Playing

by SeismoLV on 2/21/24Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

Warren Haynes is not a showman. He does not work the audience like Buddy Guy or prance around the stage like Mick Jagger. His vocals are so-so, and you cannot make them out anyway because they mix the sound such that the instrumentals are as loud or louder than the vocals. However, his guitar riffs are incredible. He is a guitar vituoso. When you go see Government Mule, that is what you are paying for and get.
