GOODNIGHT, TEXAS IN CONCERT:

Goodnight, Texas gives almost every song a crowd-pleasing hootenanny feel, whether they’re playing blues, country, or folk. Despite their predominantly acoustic instrumentation, the band brings an electric energy to the stage, encouraging ticket buyers to stomp their feet and clap their hands along with their swinging songs. Just as comfortable with ballads, Goodnight, Texas makes each song a graceful musical masterpiece whether it’s haunting, heartbreaking, or heroic. Thanks to catchy melodies and warm harmonies that make every track a sing-along, the group is primed for a serious breakthrough on the burgeoning Americana scene.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Though they were living on opposite coasts when they met in 2007, songwriters Avi Vinocur and Patrick Dyer Wolf discovered a mutual love for bluegrass that transcended distance. In fact, they got their name from drawing a line between their native cities—Vinocur’s San Francisco and Wolf’s Chapel Hill, NC—landing on a little town named Goodnight, Texas. The two kept in touch over the years and when Vinocur’s previous project fell through, they decided to throw themselves into Goodnight, Texas full-time. With the addition of Alex Nash (drums) and Scott G. Padden (bass), the fleshed-out lineup released their debut album A Long Life of Living in 2012. The record put the band on the map  and enabled them to tour extensively in support of like-minded acts Rusted Root, Bombay Bicycle Club, Shakey Graves, and Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers. A mere 18 months after their debut, the group returned in 2014 with the LP Uncle John Farquhar, which featured a more playful take on their folk revival sound.
