by KarenDude on 7/24/12Newport Music Hall - Columbus

The show was amazing and the meet and greet afterward was awesome!!! They're tied for my favorite band!! Dave Matthews Band is the other one. If you get a chance to see a Gomez show go because they're great.

    True Rock & Roll

by Danala on 6/30/12TLA - Philly

This a FUN band to see live!! They are 5 very talented, very funny Brits who grew up on old school American music. They have the perfect blend of music genres making their music difficult to label...yay! 5 song writers & 3 lead singers (or no lead singer, more accurately)....they have great diversity & great harmonies. Together for 15 yrs (same 5 guys), they have a huge back catalog!! A guitar oriented rock band with TONS of energy, lots of laughs & great dancing!! I will not miss a Gomez show when they come to Philly (or Baltimore or NY or DC!!).

    Another amazing Gomez show

by MMM98 on 3/14/12Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

This is Gomez's Quinceanera Tour, celebrating 15 years of live shows and albums. As someone who saw them back in 1998, I can attest to their enduring appeal. They seem to genuinely enjoy playing together today as much as they did when they started, and their easy and playful stage presence gives their many loyal fans the impression that we're in on the inside jokes and fun moments. There is no hollow showmanship here; the focus, as always, is on their amazing music. The newer songs are seamlessly weaved in with classics, with all of it seeming as fresh and relevant as it did when first released. The only downside is that at this point they have too many great songs to fit into a single show. I have been to many, many concerts, and Gomez is by far the best live show I've seen.

Gomez needs to visit The States more often

by Freddicus on 3/13/12Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Great intimate venue to see this group. Everyone who was there wanted to be there - not too many casual fans. As soon as the first beat dropped, you could smell the trees - classic NYC - made me smile. People were singing and dancing. The band seemed to have a good time, too. Audience connection was about 3.5/5 stars, but energy was 4.5/5 stars. 15 years of touring is enough to tire any band, but they still seemed like they were having fun, and it rubbed off on the audience. See these guys if you can. You will not regret it.

    True rock from true professionals

by HankB1 on 3/13/12Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

Gomez, the happy go lucky lads from England are out on what they call their "Quinceanera Tour." 15 years on the road as it were. 15 years as a band. These days this accomplishment should not be overlooked. And judging by the blistering 2 hour set played in front of a packed Bowery last night this band, in general, should not be overlooked. English bands like Bush, Oasis, and Coldplay all formed around the same time as Gomez. How they all achieved greater commercial appeal and/or success than Gomez is one of life's great mysteries. Wrong place/wrong time? Bad management or publicity? Bad luck? All of it? This is for certain. It ain't the music. The band, comprised of Ian Ball (vocals/guitar), Paul Blackburn (bass), Tom Gray (vocals/guitar/bass/keyboards), Ben Ottewell (vocals/guitar), and drummer Olly Peacock are something of a mystery. They are a rock band for sure. The three vocalists harmonize nicely and their improvs and jams (of which there are many) are all tight and quite rewarding. The mystery is in how to describe the sound... the songs. "Get Miles," the first song from their first record, is bluesy and a bit eerie. It appeared, quite well, in an episode of House as the good Dr. was having a drug induced hallucination. Their newer material, like "Airstream Driver" for instance, is more power pop relying more on upbeat tempos and feel good lyrics/melodies. The saccharine "See the World" is an optimistic love song befitting the VH1 Top 20 Countdown. "Shot Shot" and "How We Operate" are aggressive rockers worthy of a big arena and monster stacks. It's all represented. And it's all good. The concept for this tour is two one hour sets. The first set is made up of the bands picks. Last night they added a timely Monkees cover "I Ain't Your Steppin Stone." RIP Davy Jones. They pulled from all the records (they have 7 LPs) and among the highlights was a jazzy/trippy version of "Las Vegas Dealer." They then headed off stage for a 10 minute intermission. Once they returned they played a top 10 as voted by (via social media) the City's votes. NY seems to like the newer material which might explain how "Driver" and "See the World" ended up in the top. It would have been great to hear "Hangover" or "Nothing is Wrong." But that is not a complaint, merely an observation. The songs were all delivered with gusto and vigor. We spent the past year or so discovering new bands out promoting their first records. How refreshing to see a seasoned group of professionals dominating a stage. There were no moments of insecurity. Nothing to suggest they were unsure of how things needed to get done. The Black Keys are playing to a sold out Madison Square Garden tonight. That is quite remarkable and they should be applauded. That Gomez, the humble rockers with an impressive catalog, continue to plug along to adoring fans for their love of the craft is remarkable too. Sad they may never headline a place like MSG. Sad their record sales will never come close to those of Coldplay or Oasis. But ask anyone who has seen them play live or listened to their records if they are worthy of csuch comparisons. Their answer, more than likely, will be an emphatic yes. Much like this columns.

    Gomez, fantastic again.

by Skibster on 3/9/12Fine Line Music Cafe - Minneapolis

The Quinceañera tour. What an awesome concept to have the fans pick their fav songs from 15 years of great music. The top ten was fantastic, but shouldn't it have been the top 15?? Gomez jams live and in person like no other band I know. Plus, their music has such a broad range. Just a great night out.

Unfortunately, the Gomez of old is gone...

by Paperboy18 on 3/8/12Fine Line Music Cafe - Minneapolis

It's the 7th time I've seen Gomez, and definitely the last. I'm simply not a fan of their new "adult contemporary" sound. I think Ian Ball was either drunk or just not interested in performing. I long for the "Liquid Skin" days, but I have to realize they're gone forever, it's a sad thing.

Can't beat Gomez at the Fillmore

by Anonymous on 2/24/12The Fillmore - San Francisco

I think I have seen Gomez six times at the FIllmore over the last 13 years or so, and I have loved it every time. This last show was especially great. It was their 15th anniversary as a band and they played the top 10 requests from the audience. Glad we got to celebrate with them!

by gomez1fan on 10/3/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

They opened the show with Bring it On, and then played a tight set including old favorites and new hits. Options is definitely a keeper on the set list. These guys just get better and better, and put on an amazing show!

    Gomez at the Commodore

by SarahFe on 10/3/11Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Commodore is a nice small venue.. we caught a great table near the stage, and even got to stand down at the foot of the stage. Two opening acts were entertaining, but Gomez commanded the night. They were spirited and engaging, pared down from previous times I've seen them. Set list included some of their best songs, new and old. Wonderful night!

by GingMN on 9/26/11Ogden Theatre - Denver

Gomez and both opening acts were really good! I don't love all the different levels built into the floors in the balcony! Saw more than one person almost fall, luckily not me! But, LOVE the Ogden otherwise, great small venue for live music!

Gomez performed well. It was a great show. Suprised the place wasn't sold out and only about 75% filled.
