by RBOMA on 2/26/17Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

These two groups have not lost a beat. Their harmonies are exquisite. This was one of the best shows we've seen in years!

The talent was fabulous. Please bring them back. It is absolutely incredible to demonstrate that the voice is really an instrument. The rich harmonious and arrangements created such rich tones and temples

  • Wonderful Performances!

by MikeFTLA on 2/24/17Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I have always been a big fan of the Manhattan Transfer and now I am also a big fan of Take 6. Great arrangements and unparalleled vocals. Only wish the sound quality had been better as it made the vocals fuzzy at times. Not sure if this was a result of the Parker Playhouse system or the sound technicians or both. I never miss a chance to see the Manhattan Transfer!

  • unbelievable experience

by Tamooze on 2/24/17Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

the two vocal groups touring together is a great idea. They put on an amazing show. Ten fabulous voices making the most harmonious, hip sounds I have ever heard. I am a singer and was totally blown away. Each individual was featured during the hour and a half continuous stage show which seemed to last a half hour! I didn't want it to end!. AND they had the moves! Very energetic cris-crossing the stage in perfect synchronization...they had moves like the Temptations. From the first song "Killer Joe" to the last "Birdland" they totally had me." A Nightingale Sang In Berkely Square" , maybe the only ballad, was astounding. And they also did some classic rock & roll besides the Jazz tunes and got everyone singing along. It was just a stellar show. They sang each other's hits and their own hits and songs together with all of them. The Piano and Bass players were masters and the drummer was no slouch either although he looked like he was very young.. I was totally blown away and think it was the best vocal concert I have ever seen. Kudos to the Parker Playhouse too for sound and lighting...perfect!

  • Manhattan Transfer and Take Five Rock

by EllenZ on 2/24/17Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

The performance of these two legendary groups do not disappoint. Mostly original members after forty years, their voices are strong and on point. The arrangements were innovative and fun. They got a roomful of middle-angers up on their feet and the young people were compelled to follow.

  • Awesome show

by AndreLePlume on 2/24/17Parker Playhouse - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Loved this show. Lots of collaboration between the 2 acts. Awesome talent on both sides. The show was on the short side though. Under 90 minutes for 2 acts.

  • Young, Talented, Enchanting!!!

by WPBConcert on 4/18/16Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Bria Skonberg was absolutely amazing! She and her talented group kept us wanting for more, and she did oblige with an encore! After the event, this charming woman personally met with her audience and signed her CD's and chatted with us. She is unassuming and totally enjoys her art and sharing it with us.

  • None Better-Bria Skonberg

by jar1807 on 4/16/16Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I kept saying to myself "what an amazing performer she is". It's difficult to imagine how such fine talents and skill there are in this one person. Spectacular trumpet playing, singing, stage presence and audience communication. And, the supporting trio was equally impressive.

  • Sound System Sucked

by ces25 on 3/15/16Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 1 out of 5

Could not hear Calle when the band was playing. I was sitting in row F. The only time I heard him playing his sax was when the band was not playing. The sound mix was awful. The tech crew did not know how to mic and mix a big band. I heard the timbale player all night but he was not the featured artist.

Calle is a wonder. The band is filled with outstanding musicians.

Excellent show. I enjoyed the music very much. Great sound.

  • Friendly and professional, but not melodic

by savorconcerts on 3/12/16Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 3 out of 5

This big band is BIG. Four lead trumpets, three trombones, three saxophonists, three percussionists, two guitarists, and a pianist. The performers are masters with their instruments, and transmit energy and happiness. But be prepared for a wall of sound. Very few rising emotions, building to crescendo. Almost all songs involve all of the instruments playing at full volume, all at the same time, and many have the exact same tempo. The uniformity begins to wear. When solos occur, they are showpieces for the artists' skills, and not necessarily emotive. The songs are vehicles for professionalism. I may not be skilled enough to fully appreciate. If you are a musician, this would probably be more enjoyable, because the leader's inclusiveness and clear regard for his band is inspiring.

  • Harris' vocals front, but Eric Reed steals show

by savorconcerts on 12/12/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 3 out of 5

Our first time seeing the Allan Harris quintet. Harris has good stage presence, and colors his vocals for some variety, though without the range or originality of some of the best. Erik Reid (spelling?) on piano and acting as emcee stole the show. There's depth in his interpretations, and he seems to transform himself into a new person to match the mood of each piece he plays. The drummer, too, was in the groove. Bass cellist was hard to hear. Sax player Jones was terrific too, but only played two songs, so it was really more of a quartet.

  • Gold Coast Jazz:Tierney Sutton & Shelly Berg Trio

by HMSHOWIE on 11/14/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show. Tierney was terrific as was the Shelly Berg Trio

  • Tierney Sutton is true talent - amazing voice!

by JazzEarz on 11/14/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Tierney Sutton is one of the best female jazz vocalists currently active on the jazz scene - - touring and producing music. Her voice is a trained instrument. She has amazing control over her voice - both in terms of tone and volume. Her fresh interpretations of jazz standards is unparalleled. Her collaboration with Shelly Berg was perfection. You could see and hear how these two artists really enjoy working together. Her performance is authentic - - and comes from a place of true love for the music and respect for her craft. She is a beautiful, highly-skilled performer and it is a real treat to see and hear her sing. She is a uniquely talented delight!

  • A Pleasure

by LeslieScott on 11/14/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Here were artists at the top of their games. Shelly Berg's passion for his music combined with his beautiful musical phrases and melodic combinations are simply a pleasure to enjoy. He is also the perfect accompanist for a jazz vocalist such as Tierney Sutton, whose clear, cool tones have never been better. I especially enjoyed "Isn't It A Pity," a rather obscure soulful ballad by the Gershwins. All these selections were spot on, allowing the listener to sit back, relax, and appreciate the sound of good music.

  • Absolute Jazz Wizardry

by DavidT9 on 4/13/15Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

Dr Lonnie Smith - one of the great Hammond B3 players put on a masterful performance. From swing to funk to outer space, his trio played a wide range of styles. His sidemen are fantastic. Guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg is scary good and the energy level was through the roof.
