    Godspell

by VinceXW on 8/9/16Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

Professional singing, amateur projection. The dialogue between songs was garbled and incomprehensible. And sorry Judas: lose weight. Now. For your health's sake.

    Great job by our Students

by CBGBSteve on 8/9/16Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

With a cast made up of local High School and College students they did a great job. It was entertaining and kept me engaged. Kudos to "Jesus", he did a wonderful job. As for the venue, it was my first time there. It's a very small intimate concert hall with about ~250 in attendance. My only complaint is the floor is not sloped enough so it made it difficult to see thru a taller gentleman in front of us

    not enough infomation

by notfamily on 8/8/16Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

I found the performance disappointing because, not being a resident of the venue's area, and the fact that the information was not offered in any of the publicity that I saw concerning the production, I had no idea that the play was being presented by an amateur production company comprised of actors who were all high school and college students and that the company had only been in existence a very short period of time. Had I been aware of this, I would not have made the venture to St Augustine/Ponte Vedre to see it. It was alright for what it was, just disappointing that it wasn't advertised sufficiently as such.

Godspell voices and talent of the youth... AMAZING

by HeddyLamar on 8/8/16Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

Oh my... absolutely right on the mark. Voices of these young people, and their talent was amazing. They sang from their hearts and they knew every line! It was so enjoyable. Thanks to all who made this a lovely enjoyable evening. The A/C in the hall was like a refrigerator.

    Fire the directors!

by VeganEagle on 6/24/15Cain Park - Cleveland Heights

First, The actors and actresses, though varied in their abilities, really did their best to keep the energy up. However, the directors chopped up the script, thinking this musical. was only a series of parables, and so, lost the heart of this story. That was problem #1. There was no thread, and even the main character came across as preachy. The musical director seemed to forget that Godspell is a guitar driven musical, too. His keyboard was the loudest of any of the other instruments, and even overshadowed the bass and drums...which are the core of an ensemble like this. That being said, there were a few moments that actually worked, but not enough to keep me from regretting spending the money to see this version.

    Great Production of Godspell

by Songirl on 6/16/15Cain Park - Cleveland Heights

I was in this show a number of years ago, so I know it very well. This production was probably the best I have seen in 32 years. The set was perfect, costuming good-particularly having Jesus wear the "We Are Colony" shirt-so appropriate. But most of all, the performances were spot on and very energetic despite the fact that it was an extremely humid night and the sweat was spraying off the cast like they were playing in a Cav's game! The singing was very strong, although I was a little worried at a few spots during "Tower of Babel", which is incredibly difficult. We liked it so much that we are going to try to see it again.

    Godspell highly recommended

by Theaterfan42 on 6/16/15Cain Park - Cleveland Heights

This show couldn't have been better. The actors were well cast and suited to their roles, sound and lighting was effective and dramatic, music was uplifting and almost nonstop. I highly recommend this show, which is good for most ages (young children may get restless). Cleveland is so fortunate to have so many different theater venues and Broadway-quality performances.

Godspell was a great evening out!

Enjoyed the music and the talented acting. This is a great venue for seeing things up close and personal. This is where people prove they can act.

I saw the original production at the Shubert Theatre in Chicago in 1974. I loved it then and I loved this revival. Very fun and interesting contemporary song additions, scripting and choreography. My 23 year old daughter took me because she remembers me playing the soundtrack when she was young. She also enjoyed it and probably got more of the "new" stuff than I did. :)

    All For The Best

    by Emmy3 on 2/12/14Milwaukee Theatre - Milwaukee

I saw this production of GODSPELL at the Milwaukee Theater in February. The cast had great energy and were really personable when I met them after the performance. I loved the updated touches and the references to current events in our town. Really appropriate for small children, and you should definitely see it if you have the opportunity!

    Godspell was so high energy

by JoyMZ on 2/12/14Milwaukee Theatre - Milwaukee

This was the third time to see Godspell, and each time it's a little different, which keeps it fresh and wanting to see it again! What a wonderful play full of great music!

    Godspell- a mixed bag

    by pippin925 on 2/12/14Milwaukee Theatre - Milwaukee

The performers tended to be over the top. When they played it straight and just sang, they showed incredible voices. Some of the songs were updated and even a rap song was thrown in. Although I didn't like all of it, this was in keeping with the original idea of bringing the parables & Gospels to life through modern music.

    Godspell

    by kbonk10 on 2/12/14Milwaukee Theatre - Milwaukee

I didn't know what to expect as I never saw the production or movie version. This group was extremely energetic and unique by including audience participation and modification of references directed to the Milwaukee area that only we would understand.

So inspiring! I am still singing the songs

by Godspellover on 2/11/14Milwaukee Theatre - Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Theatre was beautiful and a real gem for the community. I would go to another musical there just to be in the building! The cast of Godspell was really talented. Singing, dancing and acting was superb. I wish I could go again. It was also funny. My daughter said it was like a 2 1/2 hour fun way to learn about what Jesus teaches everyone. The play tastefully portrayed Jesus' death and the emotion was well acted. I couldn't stop crying too. Wonderful!

    Godspell Revised

by Sweetadolead on 2/11/14Milwaukee Theatre - Milwaukee

I saw Godspell back in the 70's and of course the movie so this was not a new story to me. I have very fond memories of the original songs and story line. The music was a big part of my youth group. I was looking to recapture some of those moments. I brought my husband, daughter and son-in-law all whom have never seen this show. We all had a good time. I did enjoy myself and was entertained and the singers were amazing. The Band was fantastic. The staging was fun and done well. There were a few things that I found distracting from the story and this band of characters on the stage as well as the premise of the play. The audience participation parts, the add-ins of humor that were Milwaukee specific and even some of the modern references/dances were to me sometimes just too much; almost like I was watching a Comedy Sportz event. While these things were humorous and amusing, it still took me out of the story line, out of the magic on the stage and brought me to the present focusing on who they brought on stage or other things that could be perceived as irreverent. Great cast, amazing voices. I just think they went a bit to far with the kitschy humor distracting from the simplicity of relationships, and interaction if the characters.

    Fun

    by Steve1lazarus on 2/11/14Milwaukee Theatre - Milwaukee

Fun show , great voices, good music, a bit corny at times, but the corniness added to the fun. Thoroughly enjoyed the play, from the beginning to the end. The play was pleasantly updated to fit the times

    Godspell was awesome

by Beggy on 2/11/14Milwaukee Theatre - Milwaukee

I went to hear the music I remember from the record. I got so much more out of it. There are updated songs, humor and good choreography. The cast members were professional and had a lot of energy. I'm so glad I went.
