About

Godsmack were a big part of the late ’90s hard rock revival, and they’ve continued to lead the way for legacy rock acts with three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, 28 Top 10 singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, three Grammy nominations and over 20 million albums sold worldwide. The quartet formed in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1995 and played their first shows in Boston bars before recording their 1997 independent album, All Wound Up…, which was later reworked as their quadruple-platinum, major label debut, Godsmack, in 1998. The band’s profile grew as they joined the Ozzfest tour in 1999 and 2000, dropped their sophomore album Awake on Halloween 2000 and earned their first two No. 1 singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with the album’s title track and 2002’s “I Stand Alone” from The Scorpion King soundtrack. Ahead of the release of 2003’s Faceless, Godsmack assembled their long-standing core lineup of founding members Sully Erna and Robbie Merrill along with guitarist Tony Rombola and drummer Shannon Larkin. The album kicked off a three-album streak of Billboard 200 No. 1 debuts including 2006’s IV and 2010’s The Oracle. The band collected their second career platinum-certified single with “Bulletproof” off 2018’s When Legends Rise, which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2023, the band unveiled their eighth studio album, Lighting Up the Sky.

    Biggest Lazerfest EVER

by MitchallicA on 5/18/10National Balloon Classic Launch Field - Indianola

The event was amazing but it was one hell of a journey to get in the gates. We were told by people driving by that the parkig was full so a friend of mine and I had to walk over 3 Miles to get up to the field, only to see they were still accepting parking. The radio station 103.3 were irresponsible in making the premature announcement of parking being full. The line to get in the gate was very very long and was slower than ANY event i have ever been to. The crowd was rough during the concert the later the show went on. When Zombie hit the stage...it got ugly! Many fights and rough mosh pits broke out, but it was a damn good time. Biggest surprise for me was Five Finger Death Punch. They put on a hell of a show and even brought an 11 year old kid up from the crowd to watch the show on the side stage with the big boys. Very classy. Best band was Godsmack, they for sure live up to the headliner label. An amazing Drum duel between Sully and Shannon, as seen on the Changes DVD, but the cover songs played were a bit different. Great show and a huge sell out event.

    LAZERFEST KICKED ASS!!!

by ShortShyt on 5/18/10National Balloon Classic Launch Field - Indianola

LAZERFEST WAS AWESOME. I LOVED ALL THE BANDS THERE. THE ONLY THING I DID NOT LIKE AND THE REASON I DIDNT GIVE IT FIVE STARS IS THERE WAS TO MANY LINES. I DID NOT FEEL LIKE THEY WERE PREPARED FOR A SOLD OUT CROWD. I HEARD A LOT OF PEOPLE AT LAZERFEST SAYING THE SAME THING.

    5fdp was great

by ricpimp on 5/18/10National Balloon Classic Launch Field - Indianola

It was very cool when they brought the young kid on stage. Also, they put a hell of a show. I was surprised how many songs I knew and liked that I did not know they sang. A ton of energy and aggression just how I like my shows. Had a blast got to take my 15 yr old stepdaughter to her first show and she had a great time as well. Thanks for the show it was awesome.

Five Finger Deserves a High Five

by DRFREY on 5/18/10National Balloon Classic Launch Field - Indianola

This event was compacted with a truly remarkable line up. Alice Cooper was nothing shy of his very own circus, extremely entertaining! I went for Five Finger Death Punch, and was totally pumped the whole time. The vocals sounded great and the charisma of the live interation with the crowd is what concerts are all about: crowd surfing and moshing around! Concluded by Godsmack, they maintained an element of surprise with a compilation of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and other rock legends. Sully has such a presence on stage, I could not stop smiling! His East coast accent and enthusiasm completely enthralled me, inviting me to this solo performance.

    Lazerfest 2010

by Anonymous on 5/18/10National Balloon Classic Launch Field - Indianola

Lazerfest was not as good this year. There was too many people and not enough space. They need more restrooms, and food vendors. Next year if they are going to sell that many tickets, then they need to expand everything else.

    Loved the whole show!

by fmdevil666 on 5/18/10National Balloon Classic Launch Field - Indianola

This show was amazing, been wanting to see Godsmack for years and will gladly see them again and again. My only complaint was that 5FDP had such a small set, for as little play time as the had, they put on one KICK A$$ show, I'll have to see a show that they headline some time.Zombie aways impresses, and Skillet did a great job too. All in all, any of these bands are a can't miss.

    All the bands were Awesome!!!!

by Bravo85 on 5/17/10National Balloon Classic Launch Field - Indianola

Papa Roach, Rob Zombie, and Three Days Grace really had the crowd going! Seether also did well. All the bands did amazing! The only problem I have with the fest was the lines for the food and to get in. I know this was the biggest crowd they've had so I can understand their organizational flaws, but maybe next time they can have it a little better organized? Still loved the show though!

Awesome event. The only suggestion I would make would be changing how long it takes to get in. I waited in line for a hour and a half to get in. Otherwise once I got in it was awesome!
