About

When two sets of parents come together for a civilized evening of coffee, cake and conversation about their misbehaving kids, they quickly find themselves on a comically explosive downhill slide from political correctness to character assassination. Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, God of Carnage is a hilarious look at the minefield of modern relationships. Contains mature language.

A little short for a play but very funny! Lots of drama, but even that was laughable. The actors were very good.

God of Carnage - great night at the theater!!!

by Bundini on 4/16/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

Go see this play! A killer cast rips into a well-written play about suburban couples squaring off and baring their fangs over their kids. Four fabulous performances, razor-sharp dialogue, acidingly funny behavior, and some amazing acting - especially Vanessa Lock! Go see it - you won't be sorry!

    Excellent acting

by mec2mec on 1/30/12Center Theater - Long Beach Convention Center and Entertainment - Long Beach

The acting was suburb and very well cast. My Average rating is due to the script. Part of me likes the fact that there was no one character to route for or against . And none of the "clever" observations had real significance. One the other hand I kept waiting for something significant to happen, and when it became obvious nothing would, I was just waiting for it to end

The play was humorous, crisp, well acted and intense. Worth seeing. The best of the year, so far.

    "Carnage" was riveting!

by SassyWood on 12/5/11Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

The actors were so good, so perfectly cast, and the physicality - especially by the women - they demonstrated was impressive. "Veronica" was a pistol! The timing was right on.

    Do not miss!

by leehee1 on 12/4/11Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

First rate acting - all the characters were very good and made this a memorable play. The subject matter although portrayed in an exaggerated manner, is something we all need to think about. Very provocative and interesting.

    God of Carnage—HA HA funny

by Anonymous on 12/2/11Herberger Theatre - PHOENIX

It was long. No intermission. Perhaps that was a good, as many might have made a quick exit. Skit like quality. Jumps from one dumb platitude to another with forced transitions or none at all. Lots of shallow stereotyping. The individual performances showed great ability but neither the couples nor the foursome gelled. The barf scene almost made someone behind me barf—that may be good reason to see the play again. I did laugh. I would have liked to have seen their kids on stage but of course it never was really about them. A hamster appearing on stage might have added to the carnage.

the play was great. while knowing it would be an intelectually stimulating dialog between the characters, we had no idea it would be so funny! the laughter took us totally by surprise and carried through the entire play - many many surprising moments. we had lots to discuss afterwards and the entire family thoroughly enjoyed the play! i'm telling my freinds all about it!

I thought it was amusing, funny in some parts. A bit drawn out in others. Our seats were very close. We had to look up to see the stage. A little too close. I couldn't tell from choosing them on line. It just said VIP seats so I assumed they were really good.

    Did I miss something?

by Mom2CandB on 11/28/11Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

After reading about the Tony Award, etc., my expectations were high. God Of Carnage had some funny moments, but I felt let down by the performance. We bought 4 tickets and invited our friends. They were equally as disappointed. It was a little embarrassing.

Outrageously funny. The actors were fantastic. Haven't been to a play in a long time and very happy we chose this one. Who knew when I ordered online we would get front row seats! That was a wonderful bonus.

    Clever Enough

by keysroad on 11/22/11Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

It's a witty, clever, sardonic play. The cast is nimble. Characters defend and then turn on each other on a dime. The play is about the fickleness, and shallowness, of human emotion, and paper-thin loyalties not only to our spouses but to ourselves. The point was driven home and after an hour of recrimination and retribution I grew restless and started monitoring my watch. How much carping and sniping can you take at a single seating? After an hour I had had enough...

    God of Carnage

by EquityGuild on 11/20/11Herberger - Phoenix

An excellent production with precision performances. The entire cast is spot-on in tone and nuance. Amy Resnick, playing the role of Veronica, is superb, taking her performance just to the brink while still bringing an honesty to her character. The director, Rick Lombardo, manages to cull the humor without sacrificing the underlying tragedy that speaks to our larger societal failings. A very satisfying theatrical experience.

    Enjoyable play, God of Carnage

by Riotman on 11/20/11Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

Funny, contemporary, with excellent acting, including facial and body movements that made this play a spectacular adult play. Would recommend it to all adults who ever had a child who got into an argument with another child.

    God of Carnage rocks!

by riverchik on 11/15/11Temple of Music and Art - Tucson

This play was so good, the acting was terrific and the comedy superb. One pleasant surprise was the hilarity of the physical comedy. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. This is a must see!

God of carnage- carnage of misery more so...

by MarieJeanne on 11/14/11Temple of Music and Art - Tucson

Poorly written, "slap-stick" drama type if you want, poorly acted and so forth.... The "strong language" advertised didn't bother me if they would have made a point by using it. Very few humorous moments throughout the play.

by PackardTFord on 11/8/11Temple of Music and Art - Tucson

Very well cast, admirably played. You will feel tension, sense fear, witness savagery, and and in it all - slapstick! Watch alliances made, broken, and re-made.
