Gloria: A Life on Tour

History. Her story. Our story.

GLORIA: A LIFE brings us a richly detailed tapestry about one of the most inspiring and remarkable women of our time. Five decades after Gloria Steinem began raising her voice for equality and championing those of others, her vision is as urgent as ever. Gloria's life's work and philosophy on the necessity of conversation as a catalyst for change offer us all a path forward in a way that only live theater can. The first act is her story; the second is our own.

    Gloria Steinem

by Susie on 3/23/19Daryl Roth Theatre - New York

Great information about her life and how much she has done for women. I have 5 granddaughters that don’t know boys can do more than girls. Gloria Steinem did so much to make that happen. Also I was very proud of my husband for attending. Too bad more men don’t go. They learn men are very important to the lives of women too.

I loved Gloria!!! I loved the small, intimate theatre.

by J. on 3/18/19Daryl Roth Theatre - New York

The cast was awesome. It was very well done. I loved the live footage! We hit the jackpot as Hilary Clinton, Gloria Steinem and Diane Von Furstenberg were all in the audience! It was a night I will always remember.

    Glorious Gloria

by Jasie on 3/18/19Daryl Roth Theatre - New York

The space was both inviting and energizing with open, stadium seating filled with colorful cushions. I felt as if I was entering someone's living space. It was the perfect experience for my daughter and me. A journey through the modern women's movement from late 1950's through today using film, music, and audience engagement. The company was terrific -with each and every actor playing different roles with passion, heart and at time humor. They were so good that the minimal set design and costume changes did not matter. A blazer denotes a man....a hat or scarf changes for a new woman hero in the story. Harriet was fabulous and all the more so given she was performing for Gloria Steinem and Hilary Clinton - who happened to be in the audience that night. Best theatre experience of the year.

    Lifechanging Experience

by K. S. on 3/12/19Daryl Roth Theatre - New York

I have been twice, bringing my Mom and then best friend to honor them for their part in the women's movement. So important to get the word out that the ERA has still not been ratified in the United States after almost 100 years! Nello in Manhattan bans unaccompanied women, just like the Plaza Hotel did to Gloria Steinam YEARS ago! We all need to speak up and make the CHANGE we know if best for everyone, women, men, girl, boy, black, white, brown or purple. #timesup!!!!

Every man, women and child should see this play.

by Dawn on 3/12/19Daryl Roth Theatre - New York

I learned so much from this beautifully written and acted play. They gave so much credit to people involved in the women's movement that never got the recognition they deserved. And then there's fabulous, heroic Gloria. The staging and the way they showed the actual protests incorporated into the show was genius. Originally I was disappointed that the lead wasn't Christine Lotti but I can't imagine anyone doing a better job then Patricia. She was fabulous as Gloria. Take your children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, etc. before it closes. You'll be happy you did.

Wonderful performances that offer unique insight into Gloria’s life and inspiration. Motivating, especially in these frightening times. A call to action for all women and men. Fabulous tribute

by Colleen on 3/6/19Daryl Roth Theatre - New York

Gloria, you got it all. Smarts, class, courage. I was moved to tears. Reminded me of back then... back when... women realizing our potential as invaluable members of the global human race. Let’s continue to remind our younger sisters of the hard won battles of the past as we face the new ones. Onward!

    Wonderfully written, directed and acted

by Linda on 3/2/19Daryl Roth Theatre - New York

The intimate setting for “Gloria” in the Daryl Roth Theatre was perfect to appreciate the creativity in which the story line was presented. Clever use of video camera work projected on large overhead screens added to the quasi documentary style of the production. The acting is superb and I look forward to seeing this on PBS and I hope it gets passed on to Netflix so that it can reach an e en larger audience. The sharing session at the end was quite poignant as the performance I attended was mostly high school students. I found it inspiring to see the history I lived through from their their perspective. It would be interesting for me as a former teacher to see another performance with an audience of high school age boys..........

The Cast was terrific, Patricia Kalember excellent as Gloria. The theater is inviting and comfortable, not a bad seat in the house. This is a great experience for teens to adults, men and women. I plan on seeing again.

    Wonderful Experience

by D. on 2/26/19Daryl Roth Theatre - New York

I brought my 13 year old daughter with me to see this play. I have always loved Gloria Steinem and read Revolution from Within in college. I actually had the privilege of running into Gloria on the streets of NYC many years ago and I said hello and told her how I loved her book. She was very gracious. The play follows her life from childhood to the present and it is a fascinating story. All of the actresses were excellent. It was really special to share the experience with my daughter. She ate it up and we both found the talking circle afterward inspiring as well. The theatre is lovely as well and a perfect setting for this intimate play. Thank you Gloria Steinem for your writing and leadership.
