Everything about her is packed into this show, which feels more like a presentation for all of us who love her, rather than a play. I love Gloria S. so I was thrilled to learn more about her and sit with so many supporters eager to celebrate her and all the causes we believe in. However, as a very frequent (3-4x/week!) and sophisticated theatergoer, if I look at it critically, I believe it would be even more powerful if it were edited to focus on certain themes/stories rather than try to include everything. In the talkback, someone in the audience suggested adding something about trans people, and a lead player said she'd convey this to the playwright and it would get added. I agree with that if the purpose is to have all people and all stories included, and apparently that is what has evolved. If we look at it that way, it's wonderful and inclusive. However, plays are usually more focused on specific themes or messages. Anyway, for what it is, I loved it!
