GLASS ANIMALS IN CONCERT:

UK psych pop outfit Glass Animals stepped through the proverbial looking glass to arrive at their unique sound, and the result is a hallucinatory blend of indie rock, trip hop, and electronica. The quartet's singular music is at its most potent in concert, where their slick beats and lush vocal harmonies take on new sonic dimension with the addition of live drums and guitar. Whether they're treating fans to the lilting beauty of "Gooey" or the percussive pulse of "Pools", Glass Animals always mesmerizes fans with their spellbinding compositions, psychedelic visuals, and captivating stage presence on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The lads of Oxford, England's Glass Animals have been friends since the age of 14, but they didn't start making music together until after high school. They made their debut in 2012 with the Leaflings EP, an auspicious record that hinted at the envelope-pushing psych pop sound they've become known for. In 2013 they caught the eye of legendary producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence and the Machine), who quickly signed them to his Wolf Tone label after attending one of their London shows. Their first outing under the direction of Epworth was a self-titled 2013 EP that further established their distinct sound and landed them on tour with fellow pop visionary St. Vincent. After a string of buzzworthy performances on the road, the band released their highly anticipated debut full-length Zaba to considerable critical acclaim. A rising new act with a forward-looking sound, Glass Animals continue to enthrall ticket buyers on their unforgettable tours.

    Amazing Band, Mediocre Venue

by Michelle on 8/7/22The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

Glass Animals is top notch. Andrew J Brady outdoor venue is not good. The sound is bad, the layout is bad. They need screens there for sure. Obviously if bands I want to see play here I am going but I am really disappointed in the layout as there was so much potential.

    It was a spiritual experience!!!!!!

by Avery Morgan on 8/7/22The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

My husband passed away last june and so for my daughter’s 8th birthday we came to see her and her fathers favorite band, we got front row in the handicap section and we felt like they were pointing and singing directly at us…we connected to them and dad together in a spiritual moving concert that blew us away, it was my daughters fist one and i can say first hand having been to dozens that this was the best and most moving concert i’ve ever seen! they may not have had all the light shows, but they made sure the connected to the crowd and each person there in ways that made dozens of people cry we all danced and felt that it was real… that’s what matters and they did amazing ….they even threw a guitar pic and my daughter caught it!

    HOT NIGHT IN CINCINNATI

by Joe Bagodonuts on 8/6/22The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

A seriously HOT 🔥 night at ICON Festival Stage with Glass Animals!!! Second time seeing them on the Dreamland tour and they just dont disapoint! Love the stageshow with the 80's feel! The 80's dial up computer screen makes me want to find old Compuserve installs! As for the music, they are beasts! They didn't hold back with the energy or the playlist! Eventhough I hear Heatwaves non-stop and secretly wishing they would mothball the song, they finished up with it and made me feel bad for my previous thoughts! Especially since it was SOOOO HOT OUTSIDE and it fit so well at the beginning of August (not the middle of June).

    Tremendous Energy

by BooF on 8/6/22The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

Great performance, great energy couldn’t ask for more from a band on a hot summer night. Learned some new songs I wasn’t familiar with from their catalog. Loved all the ones I knew as well.

    Ruined VIP Experience

by Robert on 8/6/22The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

Purchased 4 VIP Tickets for the event: Total Price $870.16. We were escorted in early and were denied access to the PIT area in front of the stage...instead we told we could watch the show from behind a barrier 50-70 feet from the stage....that the Pit area was for a ticket that cost $75 and was not inclueded in the VIP ticket. There were probably 40-50 VIP ticket purchasers (REAL FANS of the band) that immediately started asking venue staff about the error and there has to be a mistake of some sort: how could folks paying much less money have better access and special entry to the PIT but VIP did not. The staff was dismissive and rude and blamed the VIP ticket situation on the band. I bought this same VIP package for the Glass Animals Columbus Ohio show in Sept. 2021 and the VIP ticket holders walked to the front of the stage once we entered the venue with our early access/VIP status. THE VENUE has made a mistake here....the VIP tickets should have granted us access to the PIT area combined with our early access (15 minutes before General Admission guests) and all would have been well. We stood next patrons who had paid general admission price and our VIP tickets ($217.54 each) gained us no special benefits at all. I have contacted the venue today and hope for a reply. We were told by another staff member that we could purchase a $75 each ticket from the box office to gain access to the pit if we would like. I have going to shows for 35 years and I have never experienced anything so odd. How can an expensive VIP Ticket only gain you early access to a venue but restrict access to the only area that early access has any relevance to? Paid for a VIP experience and got a GA experience. Now we wait to see how the venue will handle this.

    Great band, WORST VENUE

by Ellie on 8/6/22The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

Glass Animals were great but it was completely overshadowed by the venue. This is our second time at the Andrew Brady Icon (first was Foo Fighters) and were hoping for a better experience. Unless you’re straight in front of the stage, the sound is awful - garbled and sounds like there are multiple bands playing at once (audio chaos). Also, they built the lawn area way too small for how many tickets are sold and the area surrounding the grass area is substantially lower, so you’re starting at peoples butts if you aren’t directly on the lawn. Last but not least, they went on stage at 9 and alcohol sales were cut off at 9:45. What? Never again will we go to a show there.

    VIP in the second section?

by Katie on 8/6/22The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

The show itself was amazing of course. But myself and other VIP wristband wearers were confused why our early access was for the second (further back) railing? I even saw two other VIP girls panic because we weren’t at the front, and they immediately went to their phone to buy regular “front GA” tickets. Still glad I got a rail spot though, but slightly disappointed to pay VIP price to be behind a crowded front section.

    SO incredible!!!

by MsMarni on 8/1/22Ascend Amphitheater - Nashville

Glass Animals presented an amazing show! The lighting and effects were awesome - the song selections were exceptional - and the band was beyond entertaining!!! My only reason for 4 stars is the extreme cost of refreshments. Otherwise, it was an epic experience that I will treasure the rest of my life!

    Amazing

by GA Momma on 7/31/22Ascend Amphitheater - Nashville

The arrival and check-in was easy. The e-ticket was fast and reliable. The vendor employees were nice and smiled while we made our selections and asked questions. I’m naturally chatty and inquisitive. The venue was not in our hometown, so I had a lot of questions! They all answered pleasantly. The venue was pleasant and we were lucky in that the rain came before and after. The band! Wow! The sound was awesome! The band was energetic and genuinely seemed like they wanted to be there. And, the show was age appropriate for the fans who were there. I wasn’t the oldest and my daughter wasn’t the youngest, but we pretty much abutted each end. So, cleaner is better. In the end, it was a wonderful experience for my daughter’s first concert. She is a huge fan of GA and this experience exceeded expectations. We will go again when they come back to the US and get close to FL.

Performed we but weren't there long!

by Tony pizza on 7/31/22Ascend Amphitheater - Nashville

They sound exactly like they do on audio! The only thing I wish is that they had stayed longer. The concert started at 7:30, they had an opener, did two encores, and still finished by 9:45. So they only played for an hour. It felt very rushed, still a good time.
