About

Girls Night: The Musical has earned rave reviews playing packed houses throughout the United Kingdom since 2003.  It premiered in the US in May 2007 and has toured across the country since then.  It has been described as "'Desperate Housewives' meets Mamma Mia!" (Applause Magazine), "a boisterous, bust-out, bawdy musical revue" (Wisconsin State Journal),  "An infectious, exhilarating sense of intoxication!" (Hollywood Reporter) and "As funny and outrageous as Sex and the City!" (The Advocate).

Hilarious and touching, Girls Night: The Musical follows five friends in their 30s and 40s during a wild and outrageous girls night out at a karaoke bar.  Friends since their teens, they have all had their fair share of heartache and tragedy, joy and success.  Among the characters are Carol the party girl, blunt Anita who tells it like it is, Liza with her marital (and eating) issues, boring Kate the designated driver and Sharon, the not-so-angelic angel who just couldn't resist tagging along.  Together, they reminisce about their younger days, celebrate their current lives and look to the future, all the while belting out an array of classic anthems such as "It's Raining Men," "I Will Survive," "Lady Marmalade," "Man I Feel Like a Woman," and "Girls Just Want to Have Fun."

    Girls Night was Depressing

by ClareBear01 on 2/2/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

I was so excited to be going to this event with an old friend that I hadn't seen in a long time. Having seen the Musical, "Menopause" I just knew this one would be equally funny. Instead, I found this one to be depressing. I am not a prude by any means, however you have a 16 year old who gets pregnant by her friend's boyfriend & dies at 17. I am a lady who had my first child at 17, so I could relate. However, the storyline was so depressing. I did laugh a few times, the singers were pleasant even with the sound issues that happened a few times. I think maybe I just looked to forward to the event? I hate being negative, just being honest with my opinion... If I had of seen this musical first- I would have never gone to see Menopause.

Great show/children allowed to play in audience?

by deb2016 on 2/2/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

The show was absolute entertainment. If anything those in the show probably wished the audience was interactive . . . but no fault to their trying. And unfortunately at a touching moment in the play, the section above our balcony seats apparently allowed children to run and romp around. Very distracting at this time. So much the thought crossed my mind to find someone to complain, but chose not to as I was trying to enjoy the show with my family. I have to admit I questioned the allowance of small children in the show at all. Throughout the play they romped and stomped above us, but thankfully most of the show was more upbeat with singing and laughter that we could ignore the noise behind/ above us. And we knew it was small children as they looked over the railing.

Girl's Night: The Musical was terrible!

    Amazing, great night out!

by LaughOften on 2/2/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

Had a wonderful time with my girlfriends. One of my friends had just got some bad news from spouse and was sick. She still managed to meet us out there and had a great time. She thought it was going to be a typical musical and was pleasantly surprised. It was very entertaining. I would recommend no children, as it had a lot of adult humor and sexual content. Typical life situations but nothing a child should listen to.

    So dissapointing

by van326 on 2/2/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

This story was so bad. Crude, rude and not funny. The music and the singing were great but than they spoke and ruined the show.

This show is truly terrible. Sad!

by Sixtydollarspoorer on 2/2/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

As a lover of all things musical, I was so excited to attend Girl's Night with a group of girlfriends. What a disappointment. I've honestly seen better productions at the Middle School level. There is nothing original. You would be better off visiting you local bar on Karoake night. I really was shocked. I still cannot wrap my mind around the $60 price tag on this "Gong Show." We left at Intermission because tolerating anymore would've been unbearable. I did notice that there was a large group of older women who were enjoying themselves, but our group of five ranging from 32-44 was tortured. Don't waste your money!

    Waste of money

by Cat30 on 2/2/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

One funny moment during the opening scene and than it went downhill. We were looking forward to listening to those old hits, until the girls opened their mouth and started singing. Some kids from kindergarten would sing 100x better. It sounded as a very bad karaoke. We couldn't wait for the break to leave the theater. There was no way to finish watching this show. We were not the only ones who left during that time. Several more people couldn't stand it either.

    Disturbingly Vulgar!

by Anonymous on 2/2/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

I am middle aged and by no means a prude. I took my mother and was completely embarrassed, it was vulgar, trashy and low budget. The audience was full of drunk, obnoxious women. The language was unacceptable as well as the topics that were in the dialog. The sound was horrible, the bathroom was trashed, and when I reported the condition of the bathroom they were unconcerned. I was astonished that there was no mention in the material I read that it was adult subject matter or inappropriate for children. There were several little girls in the audience, I'm sure their mothers had some explaining to do afterwards. I did notice the one in front of us left during the performance, I hope she asked for a refund. They sang several songs during the performance and their singing was great. If they could've come up with a better, more classy script I would've rated it excellent. I expect better from the Saenger Theatre.

    Girls Night

by Jobitts on 2/2/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

Not funny. Left at intermission. Singing was OK. Audio was not clear and it was difficult to understand what they were saying. Overall very disappointed in the play, I expected more since it has been around for awhile.

    Disappointed

by TutuPensacola on 2/2/16Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

5 of us went to this show last Saturday, 5 of us were disappointed in the performance. Half the time you couldn't make out the dialogue. The vocals were great, all actors could sing, but the stage direction was poor. We did not enjoy it at all.

    Disappointed

by Zsip on 11/21/15Embassy Theatre - Fort Wayne

Although I loved the energy of the performers, I was very disappointed in this musical. I'm tempted to add one star just because these women worked so hard, but can't honestly raise this beyond "poor". The humor was lame and predictable, and there was no storyline or point to it. There was much screaming and mania with little substance. And the vocal performances were mediocre at best (loud/dramatic, but often poor voicing - and this was with songs I had loved). I would not recommend this to anyone. I went with 2 other women and we all agreed that it would take a few beers to find this anything more than annoying and a total bust. I hate to pan any musical, because I am a BIG fan normally and go to many at our beautiful Embassy Theatre. Unfortunately, I can't remember ever going to another musical only to find myself anxiously waiting for it to end. Four other women next to us actually did leave at intermission.

    Girls Night Out

by BCC223 on 11/20/15Chester Fritz Auditorium - Grand Forks

Was looking forward to a fun night out and it started out to be! But the conversation between the girls on stage got way too raunchy for me. Poking fun at women and men can be hilarious, but I feel they went too far and didn't need that in this musical. Singing was great!

This was the worst "show" I have ever seen. My friend and I walked out. It was a disgusting sexual review. The music was screeching and the stage props rate a zero. It is sad that the Adler hosted such an event. Too bad the real description of this was not given before tickets were purchased.

    Disappointing!

by Sumac on 11/17/15Adler Theatre - Davenport

We were so excited to see this and were very disappointed. The girls had great voices but the plot was stupid. A lot of it was obnoxious, mean, or raunchy. The tickets were too expensive for what it was. Not worth it!

    Mediocre

by Jaxd on 11/17/15Adler Theatre - Davenport

It was okay. Nothing too exciting. Not a lot to it. Music was good. Characters were very static. It's fine if you go not expecting a lot. The sound system went in and out and at times was entirely way to loud. There weren't many people there to absorb some of the sound. It wasn't what I anticipated it to be either. My friends and I are in agreement on this.

    Meh---- wouldn't go again.

by DawnChad on 11/17/15Adler Theatre - Davenport

Play was very low- budget, no costume changes, no set changes. Overall, I would expect this from a local theater group or small team. I would not have expected to see this on the Adler's stage. The storyline didn't really make much sense. Why would a gal that is recently engaged go party with her late mom's friends when she never even knew her mom? The idea of a girls night out is fun, but the reason behind theirs didn't merry up well. But..... THE GIRLS COULD SING. I did enjoy the singing.
