City festivals normally mean some free concerts and this weekend a local city festival brought the 90’s Gin Blossoms to town. I loved these guys in the mid 90’s. They had 4 or 5 big hits and it was enough to keep them on the 90’s nostalgia circuit today. I can’t really tell you about the members but they still have the original singer. There 2010 album had several good songs on it and sounded just like the first album. The signer isn’t a great vocalist but I really dig his voice. The guitars have pleasant “jingly” quality that reminds me of the Byrds. They played 11 or 12 songs in a one hour set that never slowed. A free gig that started at 7pm and was over around 8pm, and I was home by 9pm. That’s a cool Saturday evening. Blues Traveler was closing the show but I didn’t stick around for that. Temps were in the low 60’s upper 50’s and it felt great. This was my 3rd time to see them and again they delivered. I was a little weirded out by a couple of droans flying around during the gig. Gin Blossoms set list: Follow you down Somewhere tonight Miss disarray As long as it matters Don’t change for me Until I fall away Lost horizons Allison road Found out about you I’m ready Till I hear it from you Hey jealousy
The band was very interactive with the audience. They sounded great. It was a low turnout of attendees, but people who did not attend missed out on a great show and that was their loss. The Gin Blossoms put on a great show!
The Gin Blossom's were AWESOME! They sounded the same as they did on the radio! LOVE LOVED LOVED the show!!!!
Fun show! I would definitely see them again. KInda bummed it was a "dry" casino though.
The Gin Blossoms put on an okay performance. It was definitely way overpriced for what it was. I almost fell asleep due to the same sound the whole concert. At least they spaced out their well-known songs every few songs. Spin Doctors was the opening act and they absolutely sucked. Started bad and ended horrible. Their one well-known song, Two Princes, he slurred the words the whole time. Acted like he was on something, and we were not impressed. We brought our new neighbors and we were actually embarrassed by the show!!!
Gin Blossoms played a pretty darn good show. They sounded great.
I recently went to see the Gin Blossoms with the Spin Doctors opening for them. The Spin Doctors put on an amazing show with only one problem. I'm not sure if it was the venue or the technical people for the band but there was a lot of feed back from the microphone. Also the speakers for the Gin Blossoms were so loud that is distorted the sound of the guitar. I like loud music and I'm sure my hearing will pay for it when I'm older but this was just too loud even for me. Other than those two things I wish the Spin Doctors could have played longer they were great. All in all great show!
Robin & The Gin Blossoms were so fun to watch & high energy level of showmanship.
Great to see Gin Blossoms! Spin Doctors bass was so loud that you could not understand anything that was said. Next time...different seats.
i absolutely loved the show! i got a picture with Chris Barron and his signature but i was disappointed that after the gin blossoms performed they didnt stay to sign autographs or take pictures like the spin doctors did... :-(
For a band that has been around for 25 years they still got it! It was great seeing them once again, they were incredible.
Second time seeing them. Great music, lots of fun, love the interaction with the audience. Wondering how Bill Leen is and if he is returning to the group.
The Music Is Timeless and They Put on a Great Show...... Love the Songs and Love the Band........ A Good Blend of New Material & Old Classics...... Never can Get Enough !!!! Everyone had a Good Time and was Dancing to the Music !!!!
Boring!!!!! Music was good, but the band had no interaction with the audience. Very boring show.
The venue is a restored old theater, located in the heart of downtown. There is a great restaurant right next door, or stop in to grab a drink before the show. The theater staff are friendly, and be sure to say hello to Doc, who is head of security! The Gin Blossoms are still one of my favorite rock groups and put a lot of energy in the show and offer fan interaction. The sound in this venue was incredible! A great night.
Wow, awesome energy, awesome entertainment, just a great experience. Glad to see these 90's rockers still have it.
This was out first time sitting in the balcony at Hard Rock. It was great!! There is a separate lounge and bars up there!
Great venue, awesome show. It's been about 20 years since I've seen both bands live and you wouldn't even know it. Both performances were top shelf. Looking forward to the next show.
The Gin Blossoms, who should have been the headliners, played first. They were great but only played for about 50 minutes We would really have liked to hear them play longer as they have a fantastic catalogue of great songs. Sugar Ray was entertaining but we just are not big fans of their work. Mark McGrath worked hard to drag out a very small playlist (6 songs?) to fill their hour. The Gin Blossoms made it worth going but it was too short a show to justify the distance travelled and expense.
