About

GEORGE LAMOND IN CONCERT:

From his days as a Latin freestyle icon to his stint as a salsero, George Lamond has remained a powerhouse vocalist known for his passionate delivery and red-hot live shows. In concert Lamond performs beat-heavy jams like “Bad of the Heart” and “Look into My Eyes” with all the fire and energy you’d expect from a freestyle star, inspiring sing-alongs with his emotional croon and getting fans dancing with his infectious hip-shaking. Lamond brings equal parts sensitivity and swagger to the stage, kicking out his party-worthy hits with just the right mix of emotion and stone-cold confidence. Whether he’s singing his sweat-inducing freestyle classics or breaking hearts with his chart-topping salsa smash “Que Tu Te Vas”, Lamond is a dynamic performer with an incredible sense for the groove and a smooth, sultry voice that hits all the right notes.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

George Lamond, aka George Garcia, was born in Washington, D.C. but moved to his parents’ native Puerto Rico at the tender age of two. Five years later the family returned to the states and settled in the Bronx area of New York City, where Lamond was exposed to the budding Latin freestyle scene during his teens. In 1989 he dropped his first single “Bad of the Heart”, a breakout hit that earned him a deal with Columbia Records. He released his debut album Bad of the Heart on the label the following year, reaching No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the strength of a string of popular singles like “No Matter What” and “Look Into My Eyes”. His 1992 sophomore album In My Life fared similarly thanks to a string of popular freestyle jams, but by the mid-‘90s Lamond was recording Spanish-language music more influenced by the sounds of salsa than NYC street styles. In 1999 he scored his first Top 10 hit on the Latin Tropical/Salsa Airplay chart with “Que Te Vas”, and he remained a fixture on the chart throughout the early ‘00s. It’s been a decade since he’s released an album, but Lamond continues to impress anytime he performs his unique catalog of freestyle and salsa hits on tour.

    Great performances!!!

by Ms. Vei on 3/22/22New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

It was a great show. The energy was amazing! There were some truly electrifying performances such as Black Sheep, Robin S, Cece Peniston, Brenda K. Starr. The only reason it got 4 stars was because Ten City was listed as performing and never did nor was it mentioned. This was a favorite group of ky husband and I; as well as, the main reason I gifted him these tickets. We ended with some disappointment.

    Amazing!!!

by CS on 3/22/22New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

What a great trip down memory lane! Each performance took me back in time to when music was great and everyone had such good times together. The best acts for me were George Lamond & Brenda K Starr. She stole the show with her performance and camaraderie with audience. What showmanship, energy and talent on display. Great concert, wonderful experience overall.

    Could have been better

by L. R. on 10/14/19Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

The show would have been better if the truly good artists were allowed to perform more than one song. The sound engineers for this show were terrible. The freestyle artists were just bad - - - lip syncing, poor choreography & poor quality of sound. The salsa artists were good as always.

    No Salsa Explosión

by Carmen on 10/14/19Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

Venue was very poor organized, a couple of the performers seemed to have been picked off the street to perform, did not put any effort in putting a good performance... mind you m, many have not had a hit in a few years... To round off, they bring out 2 performers of free style, to a Salsa Concert, really? The worst part was they sounded horrible, which they blamed on the stage to the sound crew... Disrespectful

    Awesome

by Lake on 3/26/19Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater - Miramar

Had a great time. I was not familiar with some of the earlier acts but they were all great. Once the 80 came out it was non stop party action. I dance and sang my ass off. Could barely move the next day. Lisette, Trinere, Corina, George, were awesome as usual. OMG Safire and Pretty Poison which i had not seen before were awesome . I have been to quite a few of these and just love them, Hope they never stop Suggestions for the next ones, India, Nayobe, Coro

    FANatical Freestyle!

by M. on 3/26/19Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater - Miramar

I can't wait for the next series of artists to perform. To be given the opportunity to see so many in one location at one time was ideal. First time at amphitheater but won't be my last. Looking forward to the next.
