Have seen Tate (less Queensryche) at 4 different venues, the last being HOB Dallas. He’s a great entertainer, storyteller, and showman. Not to mention, he still has the “pipes”. I was not thrilled with the song selection this time. I’m all about an occasional “deep cut”, but there were at least 4 songs I didn’t recognize. He has such a diverse list to choose from, I could have selected many winners to replace those 4. The audience was clearly aligned as they chose those moments to leave their seats.
Aside from that, the show was great. Sound, lights, etc were tight. There were 3 lead guitarist until the encore, when an additional one was added. That seems like overkill, but all were very talented and shared the spotlight well. The addition of a Pink Floyd cover was the highlight of the show for me. Tastefully done!!!!
I will certainly see Tate again when he comes through town. He never disappoints. Having Vandenberg open was a great addition; they were equally entertaining.
