About

Genesis is one of the world's biggest selling and most successful bands of all time. They have sold an estimated 100 million albums and have played to sold-out stadiums and arenas all over the world for decades.

The evolution of Genesis is unique, their sound developed and progressed throughout their career and with multiple line-up alterations in the early years, the classic line-up of Tony Banks, Phil Collins, and Mike Rutherford took shape in 1976.

'And Then There Were Three' (1978) was the first album the band released as a three-piece and spawned the single 'Follow You Follow Me' which was their first UK top ten and US top 30 single and proved to be the start of huge commercial global success. The albums 'Duke' (1980), 'Abacab' (1981), 'Genesis' (1983), 'Invisible Touch' (1986) and 'We Can't Dance' (1991) followed for the trio, alongside almost constant global stadium tours cementing the band as one of the most successful of all time.

Tony, Phil and Mike reunited again as a band in 2007 after almost 10 years for the Turn It On Again Tour which went on to be one of the biggest grossing tours on the year playing sold-out stadiums around the world.

2021 will see Genesis tour for the first time in 14 years, in North America, the UK, and Ireland.

Excellent show! The graphics, lights, videos, and nonstop entertainment was excellent. The audio and video quality were nearly perfect. Every detail was covered. Brilliant 2 hours and 45 minutes. This was a pure performance presented by Genesis.

  • Had my doubts

Due to Phol Collins health and missing Peter Gabriel but the band brought it!! 1st concert in a long time i woke up without a voice :) Great sound, great stage effects and lighting. So much FUN!!

  • Over all good concert

Wish the song selection was different, Phil made it work from his chair.

  • Awesome and nostalgic

Been a fan a long time. Will always remember the songs, the camaraderie, Phil’s humor, the modern light show and more.

  • Great Show!

by Dotti on 11/21/21Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I love Genesis, and the band did not disappoint. Although Phil looked frail, he belted out all the hits and sounded great. The visuals and light show were amazing, and I was seriously impressed with Nick Collins on drums. He sounded just as good as his dad. So glad I had the chance to see this concert and remember how much I love their music.

  • It was OK

by DH on 11/21/21Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

It was ok considering the cost of the tickets. Phil Collins is old but still has a good voice. It was a little weird that he sat instead of standing. His son is a good drummer. The band was good. They didn’t even play In The Air Tonight which I thought was there biggest hit.

  • Turn It On Again…Please!!

by yipDog on 11/21/21Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Genesis has always been at or near the top of my favorite bands. I am a musician and audio engineer/producer. I have seen the band one other time on the Invisible Touch tour and have seen Phil solo. When I found out about this tour I was beyond excited. The ticket purchase process was a bit wonky and I discovered Nord VPN and Ticketmaster dont play well together. This almost prevented me purchasing tickets. But back to the show. I knew the set list before going so had the chance to revisit the repertoire for several weeks. A lot of the choices were made to give Phil a break from singing but were some of the best instrumentals the band has written. Overall an excellent list but a bit heavy on the last couple albums. This was probably done to satisfy the “younger” 40 year old crowd. Haha! The acoustic set in the middle of the show was outstanding showing the true musicianship of the band without the flashy lights and stage production. It also proved that Phil can still command an audience. Back to the flashy lights and production… visually the entire show was spectacular. The graphics and video were flawless as expected. In my 38 years as an audio engineer I have never experienced a better large venue sound. Kudos to the crew! It wasnt overly loud but still hit me in the gut when needed. I will not get into the emotional side of things other than to say I am sure this will be Phil’s last tour which brings to an end a huge part of my musical upbringing. I hope they continue to write and record but that seems a bit unlikely as well. The whole experience was outstanding and certainly rates at or near the top concerts I have been to!

  • Fantastic Show!

by David B on 11/21/21Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Though Phil was seated, his vocal performance and showmanship was outstanding. I thought I might be disappointed without Chester Thompson (the drum duets are a personal favorite), but Nicholas Collins' is masterful. The Phil is strong in this one. Mike, Tony, and Darryl were note perfect (as usual), and the addition of the background vocalists was a great call. The stage show was Genesis. Lighting, video, automation, and sound was breathtaking. This was a bucket list show, for me. I was thrilled.

  • Genesis? Awesome! COVID protocols followed? Nope.

by BIDWKB on 11/21/21Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

Let me be clear: Genesis gets a 5-star review. Outstanding. Capital One Arena, however? 1-star. Leading up to the show, Ticketmaster sent me no fewer than 5 emails informing me that vaccination cards must be produced upon arrival and that masks must be worn at all times inside. We’ll, no staff ever asked to see our cards and when we found our seats, our entire section was unmasked, as were THOUSANDS of people INSIDE completely massless. Mayor Bowser’s lifting of indoor mask mandates does not take effect until 11/22. Unacceptable. I will not be attending ANY events at Capital One Arena until the pandemic is actually over. I felt very unsafe and I felt as though this venue is not taking the pandemic seriously and I refuse to further patronize a business with such lax protocols.

  • Bucket list item

by CPH on 11/21/21Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

I was finally able to see Genesis after >40 of wanting to see them. I was not disappointed. The show was fantastic. Only issue was with the venue and the mask requirements. They needed to have the A/C cranked up more.

  • The guys are awesome, show was as expected GREAT!

Nic played the drums like no other he has his fathers talent for sure! The graphics lighting were wonderful visuals. Sound system was awesome.

  • Still incredible

by Pendergast on 11/21/21Capital One Arena - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

They may be old but the show was great. Set list was from the whole career. Phil Collins is beaten up and may not have his old range, but sounded good, and Mike and Tony musically were on top of their game, Phil’s son on drums was incredible along with all the other musicians. Just a great show.

  • Awesome!
