Not being able to bring chairs and a clear bag into the venue was very disappointing.
It was a great event and we had a really good time, just glad we brought a picnic blanket, because you have to stand or sit on the ground at this event. You are not allowed to bring camp chairs, either. The rest of the event was great,...music, host, fireworks, food trucks, loved all that! Just need to have it at the stadium again so everyone has a place to sit. Go Gators!
Did realize the venue was no longer in the stadium. I think it lost a bit of the excitement being out of Flavet Field. We were too disconnected and the entertainment was okay. Like the Gator Growl of the 80s and 90s better.
Wonderful evening and experience. Highly recommended all Gators attend Gator Growl 2020 next year!
In the beginning, before I even purchased the tickets I thought it was funny that it was advertised that Chase Rice was going to be there and that a headliner would be announced later. I guess we couldn’t get a better headliner....??? So then they tried to fill it up with even smaller names. Blanco Brown, who I didn’t even know, ended up giving one of the best performances. So kudos to him!! I’m just still laughing that a top university that charges for football tickets and $50 a car to park couldn’t get a bigger country singer than Chase Rice.... Sound quality was kind of sub par. Usually there’s a comedian talent. I guess having Scooter as the host was that instead....I would’ve preferred a comedian. Also, for sponsors, waited in line for 30 minutes to get a Vera Bradley backpack....then they took it down because they decided too many people were winning them. Isn’t that the point? When you’re out you’re out. That’s why you get there early. Food options were okay. I ended up getting a quesadilla and a bbq sandwich. The Lobster Roll truck was out of place I thought. The “drink stations” were bogus with their little free cups of buble and Pepsi max. I never even found a merchandise tent for the band.
Expected more from the experience. Bought pit tickets
I am a UF Alumni and I brought my child (prospective college student) to UF for the first time for alumni weekend. We had a campus tour, met with various departments, attended an alumni luncheon, went to the football game, and of course - attended Gator Growl. I was so disappointed in what Gator Growl has turned in to. It doesn't even slightly resemble the incredible event I used to attend as a student. The fact that it was in a field instead of in the stadium was only one part of a much larger problem. The show itself was awful. It was not organized or operated well by any means. It started late, had no emcee to lead it, had wide gaps of time in between acts, it was lacking in the entertainment factor, and the screen was the same height as the stage - so if you couldn't see the stage then you couldn't see the screen either. Most importantly - it was NOT FUN. I don't know how or why this happened. If it is due to monetary issues, then fine - make it smaller. But even if it is smaller - it needs to be organized and entertaining. The lack of organization was the worst part of it for me. I have high standards for this school - and they fell way short with this one.
The Venue was nice, music was great, food was eh. There wasn’t a lot of food in the general area, but hidden, and all the vendors closed early which sucked. Although, if you get there early enough you’ll be right up front to the stage without having to pay for pit access so that was great. Also, some of the staff were just terrible - yelled at me for almost using handicapped bathroom (i didn’t know) and then let 5 frat guys use them. :/ BUT, the actual event and artists were great!
Daya surprised my family and me last year with how much fun and energy she had. The videos and pep rally part of it were very exciting too. Go Gators!
Honestly, this show is the best show at UF. Flavet Field is the best place to hold this show, since it is an open space and there is a ton of stuff to do. I'm not even the biggest fan of music, but I like it since it has the vibe of a music festival. Yes, it isn't Coachella. but for the price, it is really good music and atmosphere for a university show. Definitely will be going back this year.
A brilliantly programmed event! This is my third year going and i'm super excited for the headline Walk the Moon! Excited for opener announcement. its grate to be a florida gator!
Snoop Dog and Daya Was amazing!! Great Performance!
Great concert and great way to carry on the gator tradition!
So excited for Growl this year with Walk the Moon!! Cannot wait
Great event! I went last year as a high school student and now I can't wait to go as an official gator!!!
Definitely recommended, going again next year! Totally worth the price, and I had a lot of fun.
Pit passes were definitely worth it. There is a lot of extraneous presentations and stuff that you wouldn't really expect to be there. Daya was ok, Snoop Dogg was great, the person on stage makes a big difference on how fun it is to be in the crowd.
I wish Gator Growl were not as vulgar and non family friendly. There were also SO many people smoking illegal substances there in the audience.
Great show with good sound quality. Easy access to the beer tent with usually no line at all! Awesome food truck selection.
The acts, Daya and Dogg, were great as advertised. But ALL other aspects of the show were horrible. Skits are no longer funny. The MC's were horrible, annoying, and one was completely dismissive of the memory of Tom Petty. Paraphrasing, "He was a great rock artist or something, but I really like hip hop. So lets talk about that instead." Make some noise!! If i never have that yelled at me again I'd be fine. You want a crowd to be loud, be funny, be talented. Last Growl for me.
