About

Owen was always the class clown growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio. After high school, he got serious and enlisted in the Navy.

Owen became a military police officer at the Naval Installations on Coronado Island in San Diego. During this time, Owen worked up the nerve to go at a nightclub. After only a year of doing stand-up, he was named "Funniest Serviceman in America."

Then in July of 1997 he auditioned for BET's COMICVIEW. Two appearances on the multi-cultural comedy showcase won him his own one-hour "Grandstand" show. At the end of the season he was selected from the year’s four "Grandstanders" to be the host. Not only is Owen the only white man to have ever hosted COMICVIEW, but he is the only white on-air personality the network has ever had.

Owen is active on twitter at twitter.com/garyowencomedy. Owen has produced two stand-up DVDs: BREAKIN’ OUT THE PARK and URBAN LEGEND. His 2 DVDs and CD can be purchased on his website www.garyowen.com.

    Great show...

by Soon2bdiva on 9/13/10Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

I thoroughly enjoyed the show of Friday evening. Tony Roberts, Larry Lancaster, the female comic, and Gary Owen were fantabulous! I know that there is no such word as fantabulous, but that's just how good they were. Fantastic is not sufficient and neither is fabulous. We could have just have the four comics without Rodney and I would have been more than satisfied. They are a credit to their profession. Please keep me posted as to when they will appear again. Everyone gave a great show except Rodney Perry. He was not very funny and he was perspiring so much that it was a bit of a turn off to be so close to the audience, literally in their faces, while he was sweating profusely. In looking at their reactions to him, I found the audience a little put off by his appearance and some of his humor.

Dreamteam was extremely funny i was crying

by annabobanna on 9/12/10Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

I really enjoyed the MC was the best in my opinion and even though all the others were funny, he was the best! I laughed as hard as I do watching Sinbad. I didn't care for the strip club comic teling us a story about Jamaica. You can be just as funny without all the gross graphic comedy. and the last comic was real funny but alot of people didnt care for the penis info either as I walked around after the show and asked around what others thought. Sinbad dont do gross comedy and he is the best, should take advise from him. I loved the MC keep him in your show!

Dream Team of Comedy was NON-STOP laughs!

by AmenNepta on 9/12/10Lyric Opera House - Baltimore

I bought the tickets to see Tony Roberts because I KNEW he was absolutely hilarious. And, I was thrilled to find that the same was true for every comic in the show. The local comic, Lancaster, brought the house down! It was a great show, beginning to end, and well worth it.

    Earthquake & Gary Owens

by Uneekone on 3/2/10Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Hilarious!!! two thumbs up... Both comedians did their thang! even the host was funny... however I thought the show was a bit too short in time... I wish it could've been a few minutes longer.. But overall I recommend you see it, I was in tears laughing so hard, it's theraputic.

This is my first time seeing Gary Owens and he was awesom, will definately see him again. Our reason for going to the show was to see Earthquake (saw him about two years ago) but Gary Owens had gained a new fan!!

    Great night of Comedy!

by joyren on 2/15/10Powers Auditorium - Youngstown

Overall the comedy show did what it was suppose to do...and that's make people laugh. Things were just not organized well. The DJ did not play anything for half the night! He kept missing his cues to play for the comics as they came or left the stage. So thumbs down to the DJ!!! The comedians were great! My favorites were B-Flat and DeRay! They really had updated material and flowed as in regular conversation. Good Valentine's Day event!
