Galactic in Concert
New Orleans collective Galactic has long been a musical powerhouse in their hometown, but theyāve had just as much fun spreading their vibrant, Big Easyāinspired sound to nearly every corner of the country and beyond. The jazz-funk giants exhibit a jam-bandālike charm on stage, weaving traditional and modern sounds into songs fit for lazy days in the sun and spirited nights at intimate clubs. Over the years, theyāve been regulars at New Orleansā beloved music venue Tipitinaās, toured the US multiple times, and made frequent appearances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, and various other jazz and rock events around North America and Europe. When performing in New Orleans, Galactic like to invite a guest or two on stage, including fellow hometown heroes like The Neville Brothers, Dirty Dozen Brass Band and the Soul Rebels Brass Band. On the road, theyāve shared the stage with artists like Jack Johnson, The Roots, Counting Crows, Juvenile, B.B. King, and other notable performers in rock, rap, roots and reggae. Wherever they are, expect a whole lot of soul, sass and brass ā and plenty of Mardi Gras merriment.
About Galactic
Galacticās bold fusion of funk, R&B, jazz, rock, hip-hop and electronic music is irresistible. Drawing from the time-honored traditions of New Orleansā brass bands, funk pioneers and blues superstars, the group formed in 1994 when childhood friends guitarist Jeff Raines and bassist Robert Mercurio joined drummer Stanton Moore, saxophonist/producer Ben Ellman, organist Rich Vogel and vocalist Theryl DeClouet. Their debut album, 1996ās Coolinā Off, showcased Galacticās deep love for New Orleans and its rich jazz heritage. With album number two, 1998ās Crazyhorse Mongoose, they landed on Billboardās Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart. Moving into the 21st century, Galactic began experimenting more with their sound, bringing in notable hip-hop producer Dan the Automator on 2003ās Ruckus, collaborating with alternative rap stars like Lyrics Born and Boots Riley on 2007ās From the Corner to the Block, working alongside New Orleans musicians such as Allen Toussaint and Trombone Shorty on 2010ās Ya-Ka-May, incorporating Brazilian dance beats on 2012ās Carnivale Electricos, and inviting veteran vocalists like Macy Gray and Mavis Staples to sing on 2015ās Into the Deep. Since, Galactic has continued to keep themselves ā and their fans ā on their toes with new sounds, new guests and new ways to keep New Orleansā celebrated spirit alive.

Galactic and special guests was an awesome show. The talent is out of this world Venue was great as well. Never had such a good time!
My first time seeing Galactic. So good! I really also loved their opening band for both nights. Eddie 9V was amazing!
Epic band! Epic venue! Fillmore is Church and Galactic the Heavenly Choir!!!šššš·šøšš„š„š„
Overall, very nice night at the Fillmore, a historic venue, I enjoy getting there early, hanging out in the upstairs lounge which is a rock n roll poster museum without peer. Unfortunately, drink prices are astronomical, guess it helps keep the patrons behaving themselves. I was most excited to hear one of my favorite New Orleans artists on the bill, but as it turned out, John Cleary only sat in on 3 or 4 tunes, this was a galactic show. Stanton Moore is a fine fine drummer but the lead singer these days is not my cup of tea, to my ear, itās more yelling than singing, saw this at hardly strictly last October so I should have known better. So, to sum it up, the night out with friends at The Fillmore was a blast, music was secondary though.
We had a blast! Galactic was amazing as always. Weāve seen them several times and they never disappoint. The venue was really nice. We enjoyed everything and canāt wait to do it again.
Thank you to Galactic for braving the snow and delivering an amazing show at Ballys in Stateline. Been seeing them for years and they do not disappoint. Stone Foxes was a fun warm up band and genuinely rocked the place and was so appreciative of being the opener for Galactic. Bought at the venue so avoided TM charges. Would be nice to know vaping is a no-no inside. The security was pretty on it, though just gave warnings.
That was an epic performance. Way to make it happen even with the stormy weather. Galactic is always tops and Friday night was no exception - they really brought the vibe. The opener, Eddie 9V, rocked too! Great times in Lake Tahoe!
Super high energy. When they covered Led Zeppelin, I thought the roof was going to come off Paradise. Galactic never disappoints.
high energy and rocking! The Dise was jumping. Best show Ive seen since lockdown abated.
